This longplay is from the Super Mario Bros 2 game, originally released for the NES in 1988 in the United States and Europe and in 1992 in Japan (where it was called Super Mario Bros 2 USA) and made over the gameplay of the game Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic. This game has a gameplay very different from the previous game and many even consider this game a spin-off, because the real Super Mario Bros 2 was released only in Japan and did not even go to the United States, because it is a game for the Famicom Disk System and also by the extremely high level of difficulty).
This Super Mario Bros 2 of this video was very well received and is a very good game, although it is very different. To beat the enemies I need to pick up vegetables in the no or fling the enemies against each other. The game allows you to play with 4 characters and they inherited the characteristics of their Doki Doki Panic counterparts: Mario is the most balanced, Luigi leaps higher; Peach has may float for a few seconds, but is slow and has little force to throw vegetables; Toad is the strongest and fastest to run, but has the lowest jump.
In this game, Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach and Toad must save Dreamland, known as Subcon, from villain Wart.
I played with all the characters alternately between the stages and i collected all mushrooms. Hope you like it. - Hry

I remember when this came out I was so used to the gameplay of the first one that I couldn't get into this one, I wondered and was so surprised why they would go in such a different direction. After a few years I revisited it and enjoyed it a lot more. a couple of years ago I found out this was originally Doki Doki Panic in japan.
Yeah this game does not feel like a Mario game even in the very first glance. It's even bizarre compared to other Mario games. Turns out it wasn't a Mario game at first.

@@GameSpiritGS It actually always WAS a Mario game. Doki Doki Panic was originally intended to feature Mario characters. The American version simply did what the Japanese version had intended to do from the start.

Loved this game. But I always wondered why this one was not typical super mario fashion, no easy access mushrooms, no coin or bricks to break and even the enemies were all completely different. No Koopa but Wart. But its funny how in Mario's dream princess peach isn't a damsel in destress and toad isn't just telling him what to do but instead they're fighting and helping out as well. Maybe that's what Mario always wanted from them 🤔
That is because it was No Mario Game in the First Place. It is a reskin of Doki Doki Panic which was released only in Japan. Nintendo of America Made this step to have a sequel for the American and European Market, because they desided the japanese Mario Bros 2 (later released as the lost Levels on super Mario Allstars) was too hard for the Western Market

I was 9 years old then and this was like the funnest console game that I had played to that date! There was something about the hitting your enemies with objects or enemies instead of stomping them or firing fireballs and the sound it made as it happened. Doing it accurately in a chain of enemies also took some skill(you could hit several of them at once)...

Still one of the weirdest entries in the Super Mario Brothers franchise. To this day I still don't understand it. I understand it was some weird dream of Mario's. It was just so bizarre and its execution. Of course it was only the second entry, and they were trying to figure out the Canon. Super Mario Brothers 3 truly established most of the major Hallmarks of the subsequent games.

what hack are you using? everything is too seamless, making all lives at the jackpot and there have been a couple times you got hit but didnt die.
I don't know what hack the uploader is using, but I wish I had that same hack. In all the years I've played Super Mario Bros 2, I have *NEVER* beaten it...ever. Even playing it with online emulators, I still can't beat it to this day. Whatever hack he's got, I want it, too.

What I liked about this game, was that there was no Time Limit at all, which helped when you get into trouble in some areas
That's the least of what was so great about this classic game..but, I agree...no clock made it a lot less stressful in certain situations.
