Indo, Brunei and Malaysia were doing trades in the past. In the past, my grandfather who's Sultan in Northern Mindanao do trades with them specially in Borneo. Spaniards called us Moro for some reason that they hated us because they haven't conquered the Southern part of Philippines yet they makes people believe they have conquered it which is not true. Sultanates rule have been influenced since then by their culture and we have been coexisting with them until now, though they fear us and been cautious since then. Filipinos race have similarities to those friendly neighbors and been neutral.

For those that support China, remember that the Philippines rejected the renewal of lease agreements of the US air and naval bases in the Philippines during the 1990s and didn't have any significant US military presence until as early as 2012, more than 2 decades or 20 years. This includes Clark Air Base and Subic naval base, 2 of the largest overseas base of the US. Negotiations about the EDCA only became serious in 2010s when China started harassing the Philippine coast guard, Philippine navy, and most importantly Filipino fishermen and started laying claims to the Philippines' exclusive economic zone. For more than 20 years, China was given a chance to prove to the world that in the absence of US presence in the Philippines, that they are a friend, and not some bully. But here we are, in this huge mess. Don't get me wrong, this is no hate against the Chinese people, but towards the Government of China.

I doubt having a few supply bases on the Philippines will help Taiwan. I just don't see the logic of the video. China has a huge missile force plus a very large littoral water navy, it is an obvious overkill for taking Taiwan, it has always been about fighting the US and Japan. Having a few thousand soldiers in the Philippines is not going to make much of a difference, even reassigning an additional carrier fleet to the Philippines wouldn't. China is not Iraq, it is the biggest industrial nation on earth capable of producing all it's own weapons and is nuclear armed. The Philippines is within range of China's mainland based missiles and bombers.

You can't rebuild these stuff in 2 days. This is exactly what is happening in Ukraine. Unlike Ukraine, there are no trenches or supply lines in the South China Sea, islands are just isolated targets. First of all, the rejection of the phil senate in the ccontinued use of clark and subic is not the sole reason why US military left. There were several factors that are not often mentioned.
First, US govt still wants to pay $200m a year for the continued use of the 2 of america's largest military bases outside mainland USA. This is an insult considering US gives pakistan and egypt billions per year including modern military equipment and US doesnt even have bases there.
Second the $200m paid by the US is not even in cash but partly in the form of vietnam war era huey helicopters locally dubbed as 'flying coffins' and 'widow makers'. And even those donation are subject to US senate approval.
Third, increased social costs to the people living near the bases thru unwanted children, AIDS, prostitution etc.
Fourth and most important, US see no need to have huge military bases that time given the collapse of the soviet union and the end of the cold war.
Those were the real reasons why US left the phils.
And this was good bcoz when US military were still in the phils, US always interfere with the internal affiars of the country, continue to keep the country poor in order for the country to be dependent on america. After america left, phi economy took off with country's GDP growing year after year non stop. The only time gdp fell was during the height of the pandemic. Currently, phil economy is back to being one of the highest in the world. This is why we are wary of the return of US to the phils. Possible return of economic turmoil and political instability

The new air and naval bases made available to America by the Philippines greatly expands their logistic advantage here since this makes F22's viable (since they can only be launched from an airbase). F35's are good multirole fighters, but F22's are still king when it comes to air dominance. With that, the Philippines can focus on strengthening home defense with short range cruise missiles, which is where most of its recent acquisitions (i.e. Brahmos, HIMARS, SPYDER, etc) are focused. New radar systems from Japan were also fit to be stationed in the northernmost island in the Philippines (Y'Ami island), which is right at the middle of the Bashi Channel and is much closer to Taiwan, where observation facilities have already been built. The strategy is pretty straightforward. Pepper Palawan and Northern Luzon with anti-ship missiles and China's movements will be very limited. Unlike looking for ships at sea, Palawan is way too big to identify where missile locations are.

Stop that already. It only applied to the Filipinos from his era not to this era. The youth are not prepared to go to war. Unlike South Korea, Taiwan, China, and other countries, where they have mandatory Military service for their youth if in case the war breaks, they can be an additional force to the countries. In the Philippines they removed it. So if the war started the so-called brave Filipino youth in social media will just whine to the Philippine government that they are not ready to fight for their country because they don't have basic military training because it's too stressful for them.

Most countries officially recognize the Republic of China and the People's Republic of China as only one country but both of them claimed to be the legitimate government of all China while accusing each other as rebels. So this issue is an internal one that ASEAN countries do not want to meddle with as part of the ASEAN principle. Most countries including rhe Philippines and USA consider the PRC as the legitimate government of all China.

UNCLOS has long provided declaration that the West Philippine Sea EEZ is under the jurisdiction of the Philippines. Oil extraction therefore within its EEZ should immediately commence under the support of the US military and allies. As explored in the past there are potential Oil reservoirs in many areas within Philippine EEZ places that are possible to put up Oil Platforms. These Oil Rigs can be constructed at a parallel time. Contract to construct Oil Platforms may be executed by the US, AUSTRALIA AND JAPAN as they are allies showing serious commitment to help support to secure the EEZ of the Philippines, their navy ships along with the Philippine navy and coast guards should be stationed around to provide protection during the installation process throughout operations of oil extraction were successfully achieved. Hegemonic ambitions of China will never prevail, they could not approach those areas since they have great fear with the US and Allies, Do not be fooled by Chinese, they are smart businessmen, they have successfully augmented their countries economy in many decades and will never resort to high scale war and be destructed in just days of conflict, they know that they are surrounded by the US military bases and allies mighty force

*Everyone is thinking, Thank God the Philippines is there to defend Taiwan. That is, without a second thought, defending Taiwan would mean being hostile to China; being hostile to China would mean the Philippines would become a target too; becoming a target literally means to go to war; going to war would also mean death and destruction, on a world war level.*
*A world war, would mean you will lose your current life, losing your peaceful life would mean, you will have to go to war, internet will be limited, television will be full of propaganda, you will have to live the rest of your life always on the edge of life and death situation, this includes everyone, your mother, father, brothers and sisters, your sons and daughters will live in fear as their once peaceful country has been dragged over a war of selfish interest of the most powerful, dead and rotting cadavers scattered around will cause famine and diseases, food will be scarce, life will be so hard you'll wish you would die in war than in hunger.*
*The Philippines is the most likely candidate to go against China, call it the Ukraine of South East Asia, because it's poor, doesn't have any economic importance unlike South Korea, Japan and even Taiwan which is a small country but has the most advanced semiconductor technology, that even the U.S. will do anything just to get it, all three of these countries are too important economically and militarily to be used in a war against China.*
*Taiwan is the second candidate to be a sacrificial pawn against China. Taiwan currently still has the most advanced semiconductor technology; the U.S. doesn't want that technology to go to China, and so the U.S. actually has plans for it.*
*The U.S. is building TSMC's first chip fabrication facility, or fab, in Arizona. This is to transfer TSMC's semiconductor technology safely to the United States.*
*If Taiwan doesn't hand over TSMC's technology, then the U.S. would rather destroy Taiwan than take the technology for itself.*
*Taiwan's semiconductor technology is its economic lifeline; it's basically the only reason why Taiwan has a big economy for a very small country and why the U.S. is protecting it. The second reason is that it's also an unsinkable aircraft carrier, albeit a sitting duck at that. It's basically just a line of defense for the U.S. along with South Korea; Japan, on the other hand, is more important, both economically and militarily.*
*The Philippines ability to stop China, or, to make a long story short, the Philippines inability to stop China Currently, the Philippines doesn't have a decent military capability, especially its navy. Its navy is even weaker than that of Singapore.*
*The Philippines value its strategic military position; just as the video above says, if there's something the Philippines is useful for, then that is its location; however, the location is pretty much pointless as its military capability is virtually nonexistent. This would mean that the Philippines will be armed by the U.S. to fight against China; now read that again.*
*This means that the Philippines is the most likely candidate to be a sacrificial pawn against China.*
*The best that the Philippines can offer is to buy time by adding a line of defense in the Pacific region for the U.S.*
*Now tell me, are you proud of that?*

To get an unbiased perspective, you have to go back in time when the Philippines was still a lot more powerful both in terms of economy and military....
at the time of Ferdinand Marcos, the Philippines was still in its prime.
Now who was it that plotted against Ferdinand Marcos?
Who was funding it and supporting those that were behind the People Power Revolution.
It was the NPA along with the Liberal Party along with the U.S. CIA that plotted against him and ousted him as he wasn't only powerful, but also cannot be controlled and has the support of the majority of the Filipinos....
Now that has led to the downfall of a once powerful nation....
Now the Philippines is weak in terms of economy and military.
Tell me at the time of Benigno Aquino who was it that said to the navy to fall back?
It was the U.S that said to the Philippine Navy to fall back, which caused China to move forward and take those island chains and even created man made islands...
Now tell me again for whom were those man made islands for?
The U.S., China took some territories and made those islands to counter the U.S aggression on slowly encircling not only China but also Russia.
Now tell me again, why is the U.S in the pacific region?
To counter the so called "aggressive" China, now tell me again, which is aggressive?
The US currently has 400 military bases with 300,000 deployed troops in the Pacific, now tell me who's the aggressor?
Tell me how many bases does China have outside its territory?
Only 1 and it's in Djibouti a small country on the northeastern coast of Africa to the Red Sea and the Bab-el-Mandeb strait.
Now read it all, and think again, who's the aggressor, who's the one forced to steal and encroach on another country's territory just to defend itself from the U.S....
I am not saying that China is a good guy, because it is not a good one, but I'm also not gonna say that I'm happy about the U.S in the region because wherever the U.S goes there's always WAR and DESTRUCTION.
If only you can read and analyze the past and current situation then you'd have the same perspective as I am....
I am against the U.S meddling in our affairs and antagonize China to the point of a world war where the Philippine will be the most affected and not the continental U.S
Remember, when war comes, the Philippines will be the first in line, the first to be bombed the first to be a sacrificial pawn and not the United States.
Those that are pro war are the ones that will never take part in one.

US and the Philippines has a mutual defense treaty from the time the US gave the Philippines independence. The US has the biggest Filipino population outside the Philippines. And Filipinos are more pro-America in sentiment than any other nation. Filipinos are pro-democracy and were always willing to defend it. We were one of the first to send help to Korea to fight the communist during the Korean War. We have fought against the communists since our gaining independence. Communism is seen as a bad thing by the majority of Filipinos and the communist party in the Philippines are still stuck in the mountains hiding and being hunted by the Philippine military with their leader in exile. Being "red tagged" in the Philippines is a death sentence and a one way ticket to "disappearing".
When the pro-democracy Chinese fled the mainland for Taiwan some of them actually sought refuge in the Philippines first before going to Taiwan. So more or less Filipinos and the Taiwanese people have strong relations and share the same anti-communism sentiment. No matter how hard China tries to influence the Filipino mindset, they held no power over the majority opinion of Filipinos against China.
Chinese aggression in the South China Sea and their blatant occupation of our territory and harassment does not help with the sentiment either. So before China can make any move on Taiwan, I'm pretty sure they need to something against the Philippines first. But for most part Filipinos have more experience in armed conflicts than the Chinese, and we have proven ourselves against them even when they have the advantage of numbers. And we are not an easy country to occupy either. The Spanish, American and Japanese have learned that the hard way.
