Taiwan: More likely 'when rather than if' China will take action against Taiwan, says analyst

  • China's military has finished two days of military drills around Taiwan in the greatest escalation in tension across the Taiwan Strait since 2022.
China's military described the drills this week as a simulation of how to “seize power” on the island.
Taiwan's defence ministry condemned the action, calling them an "irrational provocation and actions that disrupt peace and stability in the region".

Why does the analyst not consider transport, logistics and terrain? His lack of consideration of these factors renders his analysis useless.
First, China does not have enough troop transport ships. Their sea lift capacity is 50k of troops. With the Taiwanese reserves mobilized they will have more than a half million troops in the field defending a terrain that is described as Afghanistan with tree cover. Standard military doctrine says the attacker will need a 3 to 1 advantage but given the terrain that number would likely be higher. So please tell me how China is going to transfer 1.5 to 2.5 million PLA soldiers across 100 miles of treacherous, highly contested ocean when their sea lift capacity is 50k.
And even if we suspend disbelief and imagine that 2 million Chinese soldiers magically teleport to the island of Taiwan, how are they going to resupply them? PLA logistics break down once the troops move beyond a railhead and there are no trains running from mainland China to Taiwan.
The fact that the analyst did not consider these things tells me he is not a serious person. Therefore, this video is a complete waste of time.

China put out a map last summer claiming territory in Russia, India, Malaysia, the Philippines and three other countries angering all those seven countries.
On top of that China has serious territorial disagreements with Japan and Indonesia and China's last major war was an invasion into Vietnam.
None of these countries likes the idea of an Imperialist China invading their country and taking land so they will not be happy to see China acting in an Imperialist way.
And India has major political conflicts with China including anger over a Chinese dam that is going to block a lot of water from flowing into northeast India.
Plus China is very friendly and close to Pakistan with which India has had major political conflicts bordering on war ever since the 1940s.
Don't have the delusion that all non-Western countries love China.
