    I’m from Groningen, and it honestly kinda hurt how you sounded almost indifferent talking about the wellbeing of people here, and completely ignored the gaslighting of Groningers by the government and the NAM. Also you’re talking about the wellbeing in past tense as though this has all been resolved, far from it. Since 1986 we have earthquakes, but the government kept saying that we were imagining things cause gas extraction cannot lead to earthquakes. In 1991 the KNMI concluded that the gas extraction did indeed lead to earthquakes. Nevertheless, the NAM only publically acknowledged that in 2012, and until then any claim was automatically refuted. From 2012 onwards filing claims was possible, however the burden of proof was on the citizens instead of on the NAM, and the investigation of people’s houses was performed by the NAM instead of an independent party. The NAM had instructed its employees to not acknowledge any damage, otherwise they’d get in trouble (p.80 in postmes et al 2018). This wasn’t a one time occurrence, it was at every single step along the way. People weren’t just stressed about whether their house would collapse on top of them, but also having to juggle the 7th house inspection with their full-time job and still hearing that it was all just in their heads. On top of all that, the earthquakes could’ve been easily prevented if the NAM would’ve injected nitrogen into the ground as they extracted the gas. This cost has been estimated to €6-10 billion, but was deemed to expensive by the NAM. Mind you, since 1969 the company has made €64.7 billion with a total cost of €27.8 billion. Half of the costs were made in the past ten years where the NAM had to pay back damage claims, which they could’ve also invested in the nitrogen injections. All in all, it’s no surprise that the parlementaire enquete “Groningers boven gas” concluded that the inhabitants suffered disproportionately. Heck, the Norwegian petroleum museum cites the Netherlands as an example of how not to do it. If the government (and the NAM) would have been more reasonable towards the Groningers, I have no doubt we wouldn’t find it a problem to continue extracting the gas. But alas, that still is not the reality, so therefore I think it is for the better that we have stopped gas extraction. The way you talked about the Groningers in this video resonated to me with the attitude of Dutch people outside of Groningen: a far from my bed show, and the people from Groningen should just suck it up so that the nation can profit from the gas earnings. I hope that your patreons can get these kinks out for you in future videos.

    There is one simple solution but requires the backbone from the governments and actually start acting up. Anyonewith migrant background even if they already have gained citizenship, once you commit violent crime you are out and citizenship revoked instantly. Screw the human rights at that point, its forfeit and its one way ticket to whatever "war" torn area they came from with or without parachute.

    To solve Illegal Immigration to europe then you need to stop causing wars in the middle east so these people will stop even thinking about going to any western or european countries. This is happening due to the wars that have been caused by multiple Individuals who control the media, almost control everything to force these people to Immigrate themselves to other countries. I've red a book before and it tells how this power that controls the world was planning to destroy the white culture and the european countries because these are the most ones that have great development which have become a threat to those people. Get a bit more Info's about this whole issue before judging quickly, get those Immigrants out and try to help fix their countries so they can get back to there without having any war, and safety is provided to them. THAT'S how you solve this problem.

I noticed that your videos don't have any thumbnails so your views are not compared to your videos. I think a thumbnail plays the most important role in getting a video viewed. If you want to grow your CZcams channel more then it is very important to create CZcams thumbnails for every video. Because a thumbnail of that video showed him. If you can highlight the interesting part of the video in your CZcams thumbnail then your video will get thousands of millions of views because of that thumbnail. Then your views will be much more I am saying inshallah. A professional graphic designer. so If you get youtube thumbnail design from me. Inshallah I think your video will get more views than now.

    people are never smart especial in politics. they can relocate all this area population to another safer zones , like south west from there, and make this GAS extraction zone - an industrial zone dedicated for the gas extraction only. thus earth quakes will do no harm to anybody any more. the 1 Trillion worth of gas is more than enough to build houses and new towns for all of that zone population. this is a creativity thinking fro my side but hey, I am not a politician but an educated anthemics and economy person. what do I know.

    It's radical, but they can move all those people from that area to the other homes and extract all that gas. Who will care about earthquakes if there are no people living there? Damage will be caused only to the structures, and landscape. With that money from selling gas, they can build a lot of new buildings, which provide a lot of employment for construction workers.

    The earthquakes are insignificant. But the damage to buildings caused by subsidence is dreadful. The cost of repairing buildings will be massive. The Dutch are renowned for their ability to drain land, to build sea defences, their horticulture and productive farming …..so I know they can fix the problem no matter how expensive - if they choose to do so. Good luck.

  • @xatargo
    @xatargo Před 4 hodinami

    It brought nothing to the area except earthquakes. The people did not become rich at all; it remains one of the poorest regions in Europe. The genuine story and the troubles for the Groningen area, which has been exploited, need to be told. The Western and Southern parts of the country have taken all the profit, leaving the region poor without its entitled share. Now, the Dutch Government has decided to "give" the Lelyline, a Trojan horse intended to turn the area into a sleeping district for Amsterdam and demolish the local identity. The Hanze Line is a better alternative that supports the region and its goals for habitation. Additionally, the rail connection to Germany has still not been restored as is supposed to be after the ship accident several years ago because the West fears the positive impact it could have on the region. Historically, the region's development along the West-East direction has been more important, as it was in the past with Vrieslandt. Vrieslandt, which is not the same as what is now called Friesland, is a vast area that also covers part of Germany. Even in national documents of the death of Count Adolf brother of Prins Willem van Orjnje, they have mistranslated the original text of the national anthem. The term "Friesland" in national documents based on the national anthem should be "Vrieslandt" because "Count Adolf" (in Dutch Graaf Adolf) was killed during the Battle of Heiligerlee. Heiligerlee is situated in the current province of Groningen.

    Much of the below is from personal memory, so I cannot vouch for accuracy. When searching the net it seems to me that the most embarrassing details have been swept under the rug. When it became clear that the earthquakes after decades (not years) of denial could no longer be denied and reparations would have to be made to the people of Groningen, the fossil fuel companies quickly got rid off their financial liability in the NAM (the company now half owned by the government and half by fossil fuel companies) and left the government to deal with he aftermath. That is typical behaviour for large, international and powerful companies with impatient shareholders breathing down their neck: extract benefit to the limit and leave society with the rubble afterwards. The government apparently has no clue to deal effectively with this. Early on there could and should have been made reservations to supply the Groningers with houses that can withstand the quakes. Extraction at a lower pace might have continued for many years. But the buck has to be made easy and fast or it`s not worth it. So when it became ever more clear the party would soon be over, the rate of extraction was accelerated! The government has the predicament of not having the funds to compensate and on top has long standing commitments to export cheap gas. It`s all very awkward and embarrassing for the government. With the betrayal of faith by the government, naturally the Groningers will have no more extraction of gas from beneath their feet. Make no mistake: the experts from Shell knew well and early on that earthquakes in an area that had never had quakes before originated from the gas extraction. It took Groningers a lot of endurance to finally break the omerta of the NAM. Some embarrassing historic information seems to be swept under the rug by now. I cannot find the individual (now deceased) who made a chart with all the quakes, which showed clearly how they developed in sync with the gas extraction. I believe it was a former employee of Shell? When will we learn to treat whistle-blowers better?

When all the gas is gone earthquakes should stop and we can urbanize the area. In the meantime, we can spend tons if money on housing, dykes, social welfare programs, perhaps reclaiming some more land to compensate for the lost area, etc

    I live in this area somewhat just outside the disaster zone, in the eastern and poorest part of the province which is sometimes even called the Eastern Block. Here the groundlevels are dropping rapidly as well, not just because of gas extraction but also and mostly because of mining that huge amount of salt beneath this particular area. People do try their best to make something out of their lives, but beneath the surface (in a literal sense and as figure of speech) it's not a happy place at all to be if one opens their eyes. Just like with the gas exploits the government decided to sort of semi-privatize the mining of salt here using shell companies for Shell and the NAM and thus the government, but it's not very well known to the public.

It's not like we're building nuclear first and then shur it off, no they shut it off without alternatives. The real problem with the quakes was that residents did not get compensated properly. They always had to fight with the greedy government about damages.
