U.S. Typhon Missile Launcher Arrives in the Philippines | Taiwan Talks EP362

  • The U.S.-made Typhon missile launcher is a weapon not before seen in the Indo-Pacific, and the U.S. Army is calling its arrival in the Philippines a landmark in regional capacity. Analysts say its presence sends a signal the U.S. can put offensive weaponry well within striking distance of Chinese installations in the South China Sea, China proper and along the Taiwan Strait. Beijing says it increases “misjudgment and miscalculation” and that Washington is seeking a “unilateral advantage.”

What's the difference what china is doing? They build military bases in the islands that belong to the Philippines. They also have installed missiles and runways. They illegally occupied those islands that are legally belong to the Philippines. So we also have the right to put up defenses facing enemy who are threatening our way of life and our teritory.

Historically, Philippine forces employ unconventional strategies, e.g. Korean War, more recently Golan Heights. This was developed because Filipinos are usually at a disadvantage in terms of force and weaponry, from fighting with Spain, America, Japan and local insurgencies, "improvising" is an unspoken rule and its successes show results. They may be wiped out, but they'll take 100 enemies with each man lost. Also check out the Battle of Yultong , Hill Erie, Corregidor, and the Battle of La Naval, etc.

But of course allies will not overtly say that just to maintain the strategical ambiguity. If another country tries to invade our country, Filipinos will not fight alone in this war, Combined military forces of countries such as Japan, Australia, South Korea and United States of America will make the invasion close to impossible. That is why military cooperation in the countries at the pacific is essential for war deterrence. Mutual defense treaty will be also be activated if military vessels, ordnances, personnels and civilians are harmed in any way. Which means combined ground, air and sea from our allies will come here not just ordnance support. Ukraine on the other hand has no mutual defense treaty and is not a member of NATO that is why Russia doesn't think twice in attacking Ukraine. By the way, though China is vastly superior in technologies and in numbers, Philippines have a lot of battle hardened troopers, professionally trained in different warfare scenarios. This country is always in a constant strife due to imperialism, colonialism, extremism and ideologies that often result in battles. So China has to have think twice if they want to take that risk.

@@maplered5351To invade Taiwan and to dominate the pacific, China has to get rid of the US bases in the Philippines so if Taiwan gets attacked, Philippines will be attacked also. Chinese government knows that it will take a lot of resources to do that. It will cause them a pyrrhic victory even if they successfully invaded Taiwan. China interests must be to make Philippines neutral in Taiwan issue so that it will limit the options for the Allies in aiding Taiwan but since the Chinese government's illegal and forced incursion in the South China sea, their belligerent actions gathers a strong ire in the Philippines, so our government agreed to strike a deal with US in their own terms to let US create military bases here. So if I were the Chinese government, they should be more diplomatic with a touch of cordiality and appeasement in dealing with the Philippines because the more they display their belligerence, the more it will be difficult to the Chinese government to incorporate Taiwan into their territory.

  • @c0smicbyte

China committed a grave miscalculation and misjudgment when it violated the rules-based global order by illegally and unilaterally asserting its Nine-Dash Line claim in the South China Sea. China is reaping the consequences of its rogue posture in the international waters of the South China Sea and the neighboring exclusive economic zone of nations in the region. China is behaving in primitive medieval geopolitics in a world that has already evolved to a higher level of international cooperation and understanding. China has resorted to bad-faith diplomacy and gaslighting, while its armed forces attempted to establish control of a huge area of neutral territory in the South China Sea. China needs to gain back the respect of the international community. It needs to submit to the ruling of the International Court of Arbitration in the Hague and abide by international law such as UNCLOS.

The main reason why they imposed the 10 dash line is because of the Malacca Straight, they wanted to secure the region. They wanted to close the gap between that area coz without that, they will be the next Japan to get cut off from world trade. If only Indonesia and the rest of the region have the balls. IT IS THE WEAKEST LINK OF CHINA.
