I think it's not some god given talent my friend, it is pure existing overwhelming god given talent. There is only one DD in all human population. Of course, there are other god given talented players, and we all now who they are, but this guy share's first pleace with few other players, when finger style playing comes in consideration.
I don't think it's a "God given talent'. I think it's an incredible skill he's developed because he has a passion for it and worked his ass off practicing. Saying he has been 'gifted' with this skill is insulting.
You can develop skill and many players do have it, over the years they become better and better, but this is somthing else, this is pure talent beside passion, you can't see many player's like him out there, yet they do have passion for music and skill. Ok maybe it is not god given talent but somehow he has it,he was pro even 30 years ago, he can compose so complex melodies, it is not only worked ass of practicing, it is more.
Peter Randrup I have been playing guitar since I was 11, Just like Doyle. I played every day and worked very hard. I am not 10% the guitar player that he is. Alot of it is hard work and dedication, MORE of it is talent.
I fully agree that he is among the best if not the best. I have heard no one play with his level of clarity. He is certainly talented but I think merely calling someone talented is very dismissive. This is years and years of hard work and practise. There are different types of practise too. 10 hours of practise doesn't equal 10 hours of practise. Because you have played as long as or even longer than someone doesn't mean you are or should be as good. It's what you do with that time and how effective you are. He has poured his soul into his instrument.
