90’s music hit different 🥺
I miss the 90's and 90's music so much! ❤
Amen to that.
90's music had something for everyone didnt it?
Ahhh, takes me right back to high school. The arrangement of this song is magic. Those guitars are so beautifully layered. And her voice is the perfect sweetness.
Yep, completely agree with everything you said. Wonderful song.
Such a sweet, tender song. Her voice is ethereal.
OMFG!! "Ethereal" wat a Great way to describe the way she sings!! Thx!! 😁
And her face is ethereal also. She is so otherwordly enchanting. :)
Yes. I've regarded this as one of those "right band for the song" things too. It wouldn't sound as right with any of the other female singers of the era.
When I was young I was truely deeply in loooooove for a few hours listening to this:)
YES thats the best word to describe it!
'There she goes' is also another great song by Sixpence None the Richer both got a lot of radio play.
I recommend The La's version of There She Goes. It's the original from 1990.
@@marblwrexbro458 I remember reading that the band got the wobbles after realising what the La’s song was actually about 😬😂
@@marblwrexbro458 I had to go look this up to make sure I knew it. Yes I do, and thank you, cause I always wondered where I heard the song before. I guess I could have googled but just one of those things you realize when someone points it out.
Their other songs are good too, sadly they don'y get recognised...
A song originally by "the Lars".
I never thought anyone would do a reaction video to Sixpence. Awesome, unique sound.
The instrument you are asking about is an accordion also known as a squeezebox more informally. And to whomever recommended this song, thank you. I haven't heard it in years and really enjoyed hearing it again.
...what a wonderful song, nice to see JayVee enjoying it.I was a fan of 10,000 Maniacs, Inocence Mission and The Sundays back in the 90s...I still am, doesn't seem to be much like it these days
This is too small to be an accordeon. It is a bandoneon or more precisely a concertina (called also english concertina) here when it is that small size.
@@rsjam4558 Maybe I read it wrong, but when I looked it up, it said they were all accordians no matter the size, but then there were specific names to denote the differences.
She's a cute lady with a sweet voice. I love it so much.
Leigh Nash is still a cutie.
This song brings back “Dawson’s Creek “ memories. 😊
'She's All That' for me :)
Yes, definitely Dawson's Creek..
Yes!! 😄
Absolutely...
Totally
It feels nostalgic because the lyrics and melody are so sweet. We often look back with rose coloured glasses at the past. I think the word you were searching for is whimsical. I loved your thoughtful reaction.
I don't know. Maybe it was just what was happening at that time in my life, but the 90's felt cool even as I was living through them.
I was lucky enough to be a music event manager for many years. Leigh Nash from Sixpence and Ed Kowalski from Live did an acoustic tour together. Got to host them. Seems wild they'd tour together given the disparate styles of their work, right? The show sold out immediately. That's how the 90s were. Many of us listened to everything.
Wow I'd love to have seen that. Both amazing.
Before Covid hit I was in talks to have Leigh perform in my condo for my birthday, but the condo board weren't keen on it. Pity.
Endlessly listenable! Sweet, lovely, dreamy, wonderful song.
I love this song. the instrument is a concertina. its why i love this song so much
One more time I recommend two good 90s songs: "The Way" by Fastball and "Closing time" by Semisonic; greetings, bro.
Heck yeah! Both songs are great!
Before you react to "The Way" you should read the backstory since the video doesn't explain it
Oh, God! I love Closing Time.
This reminds me of She's All That! This was in that movie, I used to love all those teen love movies when I was 17! Drive Me Crazy where I feel in love with Adrian Grenier! LMAO! This is a really lovely song!
And Never Been Kissed!! :)
There's also a "She's All That" version of the same music video, which also features cameos from Freddie and Rachel in case anyone wants it: czcams.com/video/V_lAnJUQQYw/video.html
@@AtlantisTheLostEmpire I remember this, yes!! Thank you for sharing!
There aren’t many feel-good positive songs like this. I was never interested until I heard it on a TV show last year and now it’s on my playlist. I agree with your nostalgia comment❤️
Dawson’s Creek?
@@oaktree1628 No, an Australian Show called Please Like Me.
Reminds me of Rachel Leigh Cook.
If you like this, try "torn" by Natalie Imbruglia.
Yes!! 🙌🏻
I did that one a while back and it got blocked
@@JayveeTV That's too bad. Great reaction on this one though.
Or "Trouble Me" by 10,000 Maniacs. The video for that one is great too.
@@JayveeTV Oh what... That's super duper sad... 🥺
I think you would like Everything But The Girl's Missing - great haunting vibe.
Original yes but not Todd Terry remix.
Yes,please! Great song.
I remember when this song came out, loved it. It was also in the movie She's All That. For some reason I always pair this song with Levefool by The Cardigans. Worth checking out.
There's also a "She's All That" version of the same music video, which also features cameos from Freddie and Rachel too: czcams.com/video/V_lAnJUQQYw/video.html
The sweetest song ever! Maybe a squeeze box? Not sure.
Have you done any Third Eye Blind?
Semi Charmed Life is awesome!
Never Let You Go isn’t bad either. It was one of my songs with my high school sweetheart.
yes love their first two albums
Problem with semi charmed life is all the videos chop out a middle section that includes the song's payoff
Another hit from then is “There She Goes”. This song became huge because it was featured in a movie but the album “Sixpence None The Richer” is awesome.
Never thought you'd get around to this one! Such a lovely voice and a beautiful song.
"...and don't walk around telling people to kiss you."
Almost sprayed my coffee. LOL!
Actually she was speaking to Jesus in this song.
Erase and Rewind from the Cardigans is a great lounge vibe.
I love the Cardigans!
React to Eagle Eye Cherry : Save tonight
Whitesnake: Here I go
Faith Hill: This kiss
This song was EVERYWHERE in the late 90s.
It really was. It was in almost every teen "romance" movie.
If you like this, you will probably like The Sundays. Check out "Here's Where the Story Ends" and "Summertime".
Yes!!!❤️
Yesss!!!! 👏🏼👍🏼👏🏼👍🏼
I also like the Tintin Out/Emma Bunton version of Here's Where The Story Ends. Keeps quite true to the original.
Yes
YES! I actually heard "Here's Where the Story Ends" in a Red Robin the other day and nearly passed out from shock! Such a great band. I also love "I Kicked a Boy" and "Summertime."
Lovefool by, The Carigans!
Oh yes!! Fantastic song! Jay will love it.
Yes!!!!
Great song, but it's by The Cardigans not the Carigans!!!
I love this song; it's super sweet n lovely with no cheese. Good memories.
Great song and her voice is so beautiful. Sweet, tender, gives me feels!! ❤👍🏽
Yay, I'm so excited to watch this with you. It didn't show in my youtube feed until today. LOVE this song.
You completely nailed the nostalgia aspect of the song. Late 90’s pop al the way.
Great reaction and yeah this song is super nostalgic. You check out their other famous song, it’s really good as well.
“There She Goes”
Hahaha actually always liked this song!!
Loved this song, still sing and dance around when I hear It, Makes the lockup housework dance.
Speaking of nostalgia, I think Jojo - Get Out would be a good song to listen to
I love the inocense of the lyrics... Such a great song!🎵 💋
Great reaction video. This song is so wonderfully tuneful and it sweeps me off my feet every time. It reminds me of the Cardigans early singles like 'Rise and Shine'. This song is really sweet and wonderful and it must be cool to hear it for the first time. I think that sound you were referring to is an accordian or squeezebox. It's a very unique and memorable sound.
I love the Cardigans!
This is my confort and happy song for so many years, it's the one that I will always love to listen to it any time of day and night!
Love this song! Love her voice! So sweet and innocent! And the music is soft, and definitely nostalgic.
One of the best love songs ever! I've heard it countless times and I never get tired of it. It reminds me of the late 90s, being a teenager in love and Dawson's Creek.
One hit wonders like these are so often gems. To that end, I recommend "Love fool" by The Cardigans.
OMG, have you heard their other songs? Lol, they were not a one-hit group.
Instrument is called a concertina. Often called a "squeeze-box". Used a lot in Irish and southern French music. Also used in "pirate music".
There ya go. Got yer answer. Yarrrrrrrr!!!!
Love this! Ha I had the CD Single back in the day 😂 Definitely check out The Sundays “Here’s Where The Story Ends” or “Summertime“ and The Cardigans “Lovefool” for sure!! A few of us saying it. We won’t steer you wrong Jay!! 👌🏼
Aww man CD and cassette singles! Loved going shopping for those! 🤣
Haha, I was also reminded of "Lovefool" for some reason, but the mood of that song is very different!
Yes, The Cardigans!! 🙃
Jars of clays is great too
So 90s this track takes me back to easy simple times. Just memories, university and care free days. Glad you enjoyed it Jay!
This was a good one to sing to driving around back in the day. Beautiful voice and a sweet tune.😁👍🎶❤️
There is a concertina shown in the video, and there are brief moments during the clip where something that sounds vaguely like a concertina is used. In turn, a concertina sounds a little like a harmonica and, in principle, concertinas are just harmonicas with bellows stuck on them. However, in this case I'm almost certain it's actually an electronic keyboard being played, rather than an acoustic free-reed instrument such as an concertina, a piano accordion, or a harmonica.
If you like her voice, I will recommend a band called The Sundays..
song : summertime,. Here's where the story ends, wild horses
The 90s had some great female vocalists! I also recommend "Who Will Save Your Soul" by Jewel, "Where Have All the Cowboys Gone" by Paula Cole, and "Possession" by Sarah McLaughlin
This entire album is great. The guy playing guitar in the video is Matt Slocum. He wrote the bulk of all of the music and lyrics for the band. He wrote the lyrics to this song. He's excellent at writing songs for women to sing.
I remember when this song came out. I was working at a job I didn't like and this song came on the air and it really got me through a sucky day. I remember it like it was yesterday. Fond memories!
Great song! Great reaction. Great memories.
This is such a “pretty” song, did really well in the UK but don’t think they had another hit over here. Nice to hear it again, thank you.
I believe their cover of The La's song There She Goes did good, well at least in the US. I used to hear that a lot along with this song when I was a kid.
@@doranmitchell1700 Definitely. I prefer the original version by The La's, but the Sixpence None the Richer cover was pretty solid and worked well with their style.
It never ceases to amaze me how a band can dip so richly into the pool of musical greatness for one song and never manage to do it again. It has happened so many times. This song totally brings you back to that time and the places you used to go, the people you used to know. I think that it may be something in the quality of her voice (plus the amazing melody and lyrics) I seem to remember reading something about them being a Christian music band that broke through into the general market for a song or two before returning to their original vision of themselves, or am I mixing them up with someone else?
@@richardkeating3575 their cover of Don't dream it's over also did well right?
They have many good songs. Kiss Me was their biggest hit, but other songs are gems as well.
How is this the first time? That guitar lead is so iconic!!!! And her voice is so freakin nostalgic 😩
I remember hearing this on the radio like daily back in high school 😅
Yes! Nostalgic is definitely the word for this song! Brings back so many sweet memories. The instrument is an acordian.
Sixpence None the Richer took their name from a line in a CS Lewis book. They started as a Christian market band but had a lot of success in the mainstream market.
Ahhh, I love this song, simple, and evokes great memories. Another song that this reminds me of in its simplicity and message, is ‘Never Let Her Slip Away’ by the late great Andrew Gold....definitely worth a listen
So fitting that you said it was nostalgic. This song came out when I was dating a very special guy. I always think of him when I hear this song. Very fond memories. Btw, you're referring to the accordion but online says they used an electronic keyboard.
If like her you will love
the band SUNDAY. Songs : Here where the story ends,. Wild horses,. Summertime
On a roll today.. You go Jay!!❣️
the recording is an accordion but they play live with a Concertina which is similar to an accordion but rather than piano keys on the side, they have buttons that create diatonic notes (meaning different sounding when pulling out vs pushing in)
I'm glad to find this comment, I was having some cognitive dissonance looking at the concertina on the screen but hearing an accordion.
It’s great to hear this again. My daughter was discovering music when this came out… such sweet memories from a special time in her life! Thank you!
One of those classic 90s songs you sing in the car when the homies ain't around.
Check out Jewel -- "You were meant for me" or "Who will save your soul". Around the same time period I think, but very different vibe.
I love her voice you should check out more of her and the band " breathe your name " they covered" Don't dream it's over " really well their song "paralyzed" has some serious lyrics ✌️♥️
Total nostalgic song! 90's highschool memories for me.
One of the few Christian bands in the 90s other than DC Talk and POD that didn’t suck. Leigh Nash was and still is a gorgeous lady.
Hell yeah, DC Talk! o/
@pablos1920 1997 was the year this song came out.
I met her a couple of times through work. She is so tiny and adorable
Great song! The Sunday's Here's where the Story Ends, Summertime 💜
I used to love this song soooo much. Haven't heard it in years so thank you.
I love how you're just vibing. This is so wholesome. Your smile is infectious and your shirt is super cool. Keep making videos!
Tasmin Archer - Sleeping Satellite. You won’t regret this one hit wonder.
It's like REM losing my religion brah you can't lie its a banger all those 90s songs are
Leigh Nash is a doll!!!
1999's"She's All That"which was a Great Teen Movie really introduced"Sixpence None The Richer"to the world. There is actually 2 versions of this music video, the one you watched and the other one is basically the same but they show clips from"She's All That"and Freddie Prinze jr and Rachel Leigh Cook, the 2 main stars from"She's All That"actually appear in this music video with the band.
Though it may be true that Six Pence only had one "hit" song, they were only a good manager away from having several. The album that this song came off of had a lot of good songs on it. Leah's voice is soooo captivating and Mr. Slocum's songwriting is way underrated. They just wanted to make good music. They weren't in it for the spotlight or the fame. In their early days, Leah was quite camera shy and just shy in general. But that voice of hers!!! Check out "Breathe Your Name".
This is our song. Been together 22 yrs. We walked into our Wedding Reception to this song! Always gets played on full blast when it plays!
Awww I saw those misty eyes señor... excellent reaction!!! Thank you. This is one of my favorite songs. 😍
That 90's SOUND 😊
The 70s was the music of my grade school years. The 80s was the music of my junior/high school years. The 90s was the music of my college years. All good times in their own way. I like a few songs now, but they don’t do that much for me. I like to be nostalgic and listen to the music of my younger years.
Nostalgic, sweet, complex yet sounds simple. Great lyrics. Layered. Great instrumentation. Just an all around super song.
She also guested as a vocalist for the song ‘Innocente’ by Delerium. You really need to check out that as well as ‘Silence’ by them as well, featuring Sarah McLachlan.
Oh my god, I was suddenly backon my way to Prom, LOL. I was cooking and listening and watching between prep-work. I remember getting ready, my ice-blue Cinderella dress that fit perfect & having the best time after my best buddy and I ditched after we got our pictures...and we ran wild on the Plaza (our downtown). It was something else. Thanks for the throwback!
I was stuck in L.A. traffic when I first heard this on the radio. Calmed down and chilled out, and completely forgot about the idiot drivers who couldn't figure out how to merge.
I love a happy song, Its a nice change, and an escape from the world as it is.
You probably already found out but that instrument is an accordion I think
What is there to say about this other than it is a lovely well written Pop song! It's dreamy in content.
A good catchy song nvr dies off
Such a beautiful voice. Gentle soft and absolutely beautiful
Such a sweet, easy song to listen to.
ONE OF MY WIFE`S FAVS JAYVEE THANK YOU
Memories, memories...
(The kind of instrument You were asking about is an Accordion - that particular sound is also very prevalent in several French romantic songs...).
What a throw back!
What you're trying to say about her voice it's called blissful
This song was also in the soundtrack for the movie 'She's All That'.
Awww…the song from the movie “She’s All That”. Yes, that’s where I remember it from back in the day…and then the radio 😃
There's also a "She's All That" version of the same music video, which also features cameos from Freddie and Rachel too: czcams.com/video/V_lAnJUQQYw/video.html
I love this song! ❤ I sang it on karaoke all the time at my neighbors house.
I thought your comment about it making you feel nostalgic was well put. It made me feel that way the first time I heard it. The song worked perfectly.
I've seen this played at sports arenas when they do the kiss cam.
Awwww love this song!! As used in sweet film She's All That
After this song you should check The Cardigans "Lovefool" (Official Music Video) ☺️
Both songs were on the soundtracks of the movies:
- Kiss Me: "She's All That"
- Lovefool: "Romeo+Juliet", "Cruel Intentions", "Virgin Territory"
You couldn't escape this song back in the late 90s,it was in alot of commercials and a bunch of movies. Can't remember which ones though.
