Possibly the greatest "sappy" love song of all time. I never get tired of hearing this.
IKR? I first heard this at the end of a telecast of the wedding of Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex (1999). Had never heard it before then but it just spoke to me. Itâs such a pretty, sweet song.
Aw, I was so young... so sappy indeed
It is a song when you hear it your first thought is "who is this?"
this song makes me happy every time I hear it
Ah...no...the record belongs to "Wonderful Tonight" by Eric Clapton !
I'm a bearded metalhead and a horror movie maniac but this one tugs at my heartstrings â€ïž fucking love it
Same here! Reminds me of times-past.
Same here. 51 year old metalhead. Always liked this song. Reminds me of middle school romance.
48 year old here. Same. Even more, though: "Independent Love Song" by Scarlet.
Maybe Leo (of Frog Leap Studios) will do a cover if he hasn't already.
haha good stuff
I am a 37 yr old, Military vet, former HS Varsity athlete, gun enthusiast, and all around gruff, burly, tough guy...I love this song. lol
It's pure bubble-gum pop, but it is such a good song.
But still a romantic at heart, like many professional warriors of Yore. You can be both đ
@@Plymouth888 lol, indeed! :)

So a terriost then
My ultimate "guilty pleasure" song. I love it, and I don't care if anyone makes fun of me for it đ€Ł
Dang straight. If they dont dig it tough cookies.đ€
@@jeffreyflint6286
Omg language sir!
@@SirWrecksy it's only rock and roll but I like it!
It's an innocent pleasure, nothing to feel guilty about
It doesn't get much more twee than this. Great imagery,: "moonlit floor", "milky twilight", "broken tree house", "father's map", "bearded barley."
I love this song. It reminds me of that magical moment when I first fell in love. The giddiness, the awkwardness, the butterflies in the stomach. The innocence. It can never be repeated unfortunately.
This short lived era of this type of music was weird yet great. I never get tired of this song. There She Goes is another one of their hits. Itâs a sweet song too.
Leigh Nash has the gift of sounding like a child.
What a great voice.
The combo of the jangly guitars and that sweet girlish voice just hits home. Love it!
This was the theme song for the movie "She's all that" and used in quite a few TV shows. That is probably where you heard it before.
Sounds SOOOO 90's. Lovely song, cute lyrics. Definitely a happy earworm. (And since people are saying how old they are, I'm 61.)
This came out in 1997 and was a huge hit. It's very nostalgic to me, I was in my second year of college and remember hearing it everywhere. Aside from being in the movie She's All That it was covered by a number of other bands.
I was also in my second year of college when it came out. We were still learning to be adults while continuing our education and navigating new experiences and responsibilities. Good times.
It came out in 1999.
I love this song SO MUCH. Hardly anyone has reacted to it... it's just so beautiful and sweet. The guitar player, Matt Slocum is under rated, his shimmery guitar mixed with her voice and the poetic words... I just love this song so much. Thank you for reacting to it. â€
This song, along with Filters "Take a Picture", capture that quintessential 90's sound to a t.
it was released in 1997. i remember riding in the car with my mom and hearing it a lot lol
This amount of pureness she shows in her eyes is an injection of good energy.
Brad & Lex, you'll love their cover of "There She Goes"!!!
edit - you may have heard Kiss Me in the 1999 movie film "She's All That", starring Rachael Leigh Cook.
Lead singer is Leigh Nash.
It's used in Dawson's Creek too I think
There she goes. There was a commercial with a ballerina and they played that song. So know I always picture a ballerina when I hear it.
I'd forgotten it was in that movie. Gotta dig out of my dvd collection and watch it again.
aren't the scenes in this music video from that movie?
@@rishabhpb Yup. :)
This song as in SO many movies in the late 90's. I was running a Blockbuster video store at the time, and this song as also on so many compilation cd's that we were allowed to play in store during work.
The pauses in this song are so well placed. Just a simple, catchy song masterfully played. 1997, good guess Lex!
Just love Sixpence, so innocent
whenever i hear this song i find myself getting in 90's songs like
natalia imbrughlia -torn
lena marlin -sitting right here
jewel-foolish games
all saints -never ever
can we go back plz lol
Such a sweet voice, she's adorable đ
Love this song! It reminds me of every teenage movie where the lead girl makes a grand entrance into a party! đ€·đŒââïžđ
After they had a makeover
One of the most wholesome-sounding songs ever written!
Watch "She's All That". The song blew up thanks to that classic teen romantic comedy:)
Something about 90's love stories and love songs is so comfy but also pulls at your emotions.
Was a different vibe to the world back then. Even the toughest person still saw the world with such a lust for love. A walk to Remember, Loser, City of Angels, Ghost, Pretty Woman, 10 things I hate about you, etc. So many classics that sparked a desire for love in us that seems much more shallow these days.
Now most of us 90's kids are sad and lonely. lol
They don't do enough good love stories anymore in Hollywood. There's a very prevalent "A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle" vibe these days.
@@chriswhinery925 Well idc if it's between a man and a woman, two men, two women, whatever... should be romances for all. But yeah writing seems very half assed and focused less on story telling and more on everything else these days. lol Which is sad because the movie industry has so much more potential now than they did back then.
@@chriswhinery925 The movie industry is (and has been for the last 10 years) completely overwhelmed by the ever-greater ability to do spectacle - storytelling of all kinds has been subordinated to packing as much CGI and stuntfests as possible into most movies. A lot of movies leave you feeling like you've been subjected to a prolonged CGI demo reel which just happened to have some actors in it. But, there are still films which rely on strong stories being made - but far fewer than there once were. But it was the same for each new innovation that movies made. When sound, then colour, then widescreen, then 3D came in - movies went crazy with it and storytelling took a backseat. Bound to be that way, like mainstream music, mainstream movies is a essentially a fashion industry.
Wow!!! I had forgotten how much I love this song. Thank You
I should hate this. But it is a damn good catchy tune. Like 'Sugar, Sugar' from the Archies and 'Dancing Queen' from ABBA, just a good pop tune with all of the trimmings.
Along with being a very popular Christian group from the mid 90's, they also did solid covers of the La's "there she goes" and "don't dream it's over" by Crowded House.
Christian group, really? Lyrics go something like "you wear that flowered hat and I'll wear that dress" ,seems like a very un-Christian relationship. Might be wrong ,but doesn't sound like a Christian sanctioned song? Please don't be offended, I don't really care either way, just seems like it's not a "typical" romance.
P.S. They also kinda look like a fake band. Just saying. Do like the song.
@@fagingreen8002 so...1)this was their first mainstream hit. 2) are you actually reading the lyrics? "You wear those shoes and I'll wear that dress." "Twist me, out on the moonlit floor" "under the milky twilight"...these are cutesy ways to describe dancing, and pretty tame, like first date kissing. Rural area stuff, like a freaking Hallmark movie. I think you're really putting your own thoughts into this.
@@fagingreen8002 I don't understand what you mean. Like the Monkees? Having seen them live, I can tell you, they're real. They're a mid 90's band, putting out songs and videos in the late 90's-early 2000's. They look like they're perfectly styled for the time period.
@@davidmeloche3563 maybe different verses but one is wearing a dress and the other has a flowered hat. read the entire song. I think You may be getting cleverly deceived. Oh, and yes , even fake bands play "live".No reason to get upset, I just found it odd that you said a Christian band would put out an obvious girl/girl love song, sorry dude.
In my opinion this is one of the best and most underrated songs of the last 30 years. Absolutely beautiful voice and melody and fantastic composition overall.
I love this song đ¶ â€
Usually Brad is closer to the year when the songs came out but Lex got him on this one. It's from 1997, and it's one of the first songs I remember ever hearing on the radio.
Really nice, sweet song. It's got that smooth and mellow feel to it that just relaxes you. Leigh Nash is so adorable, and her voice seems to "fit" her looks. A kiss is the best way to show your affection to someone you love, and not just sexually. If I remember right, there is another video where Leigh is riding a bike, but I'm not 100% positive. Another song that came out about the same time was "Drops of Jupiter" by Train that I think you will enjoy.
Leigh Nash really is adorable! the way she is in the video is perfect for the song
Always loved this song, always loved the singer, but it never clicked for me until now that she looks like an anime character come to life.
I'm listening to this song and you guys dropped in my feed because of it, lol. Love this song, captures the feelings of falling in love in a melody perfectly. đŻ
SO happy you chose this. This group caught my attention in the mid-90s. Love their style and vibe. Sweet and warm, with just a little electric guitar to pick things up. Thank you!
I have always loved this song. Itâs magical. More Six Pence please. Thanks
âSheâs All Thatâ Pops in my head as soon as this song starts. Not sure if it was in other teenage movies đ€·đœââïž
I just love a well crafted, catchy pop song. And if it has the right vibe to move me emotionally too, well then it just becomes magical.
Yes! I was waiting for you guys to react to this one! This is my favorite song from 1998/1999. I listen to it often because itâs so happy. I miss music like this!
Thank you for sharing this with me đ
I remember thinking that I'd never like anything from the 90's - I wanted pop/rock from the 70's and 80's! Then, in the car, this song was played. My (then) 10 year old daughter squealed "I LOVE this song!". So I listened. And listened. And like my little girl, got emotional. I had to admit there were some 90's songs that could get to me.
Always great to be reminded about this tune â
Man!!! This song brings me back to being around 11 and shopping with my mom at JCPENNEY, walking threw the mall, hearing it on TV. This song was everywhere. I love it, making a 90s kid happy!
I hear this song start up and half the movies and tv shows I watched in the '90s start playing in my head.
Always loved this one!†sweet little song †the bearded barley!đ»
A catchy song - great vocals & melody. The many clean sounding guitars in the mix really lift it.
Leigh Nash is another one of my favorite singers. When they first came out I thought they were from Europe but learned later they were from Tennessee. Leigh last nome Nash was how Nashville got its name. Her Ancaster was one of the founding fathers which how it got its name. I guess you can't get more American than that.
They moved to Tennessee but they were originally from New Braunfels, which is a suburb outside San Antonio, Texas.
Yep, I've heard this song many times before but never knew who sang it until now. Thanks!
Well this brings back a lot of old memories
Great song. Still played fairly frequently on the radio in my town.
This is a great song! Takes me back to some good times, the power of music.
da song is just like "IÂŽm so cute" đčđčđčđčđčđčđčđč
This was the height of romantic to my teenage ears, way back in 1997.
I never get tired of this song, and always sing along.
They do a good cover of "Love Is Blindness" by U2. Lots of good covers from older bands, really. These guys were always fairly humble, and their covers feel like honest homages to the bands that they covered. I just love them, even though as a dude you are not supposed to lol.
So sweet and rock inâ. Pop in itâs best form.
I remember hearing this the first time, driving my car. But I've never seen the band or video until now, and they look exactly like I imagined. Lol.
Love this song. This band has an amazing cover of Don't Dream It's Over by Crowded House
It is the main song in the movie "She's All That." (1999) The main character comes down the stairs looking cute in her dance dress while this song is playing....
This brings me back to college it was played all the time. I like it!
I remember this now. Pretty interesting tune. Kinda like it. Her voice is mellow and soothing. Grows on you.â
Hell yeah love this song.
Love this song
This song ROCKED the romance scene and radio in the 90s and early 200s even. It was EVERYWHERE.
It was everywhere I got used too it still my song lolâŠ
Love love love
Great song and lovely voice
I fell in love with her then and she still has a spell on my heartđ„°đ Check out "There She Goes" by the same band. Magicalđ«đ„â
Haha the cover
@@rogersmith434 sorry. Their version.
Yeah! We played this at my best friend's wedding! I mean it was a long time ago...but YES!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE it!
Always loved it..đđž
Love this song đ” â€ïž
She could smile and sing at the same time,Amazing for sure.
Never seen the video or the girl singing before. But the voice alone would make me want to kiss her. Beautiful.
Brad is now swaying - he lives!
I highly recommend this entire album. Itâs just wonderful. Amazing music by a band sadly mostly known for this (admittedly great) song. Also, I recommend their earlier stuff.
Iâve loved this song for itâs upbeat feels & innocence since it came out. Still love it, but literally just last week found out what the phrase âkiss me, out of the bearded barley â means.
I'm guessing that bearded barley as explained in urban dictionary was a reaction to this song. Just a hunch.
6 Pence was a Christian band. Out of the bearded barley originally referred to a rural area, like out on a farm. Urban dictionary definition came later.
Aawwwwww I freaking love this song đđđđđ
Reminds me of my childhood of the early 2000's such simpler times..
Their cover of You're a mean one Mr. Grinch is amazing and since it's that time of year y'all should do it
This song is beautiful, but I think I also like it because it reminds me of my first few years in Seattle, when life was good and the city was affordable. It was a big hit on the radio then.
Wow Brad was way off with this one timewise which is as late 90s as it gets. I was 17 in 1999 and fell in love with this beautiful song thanks to 'She's All That' (still one of my nostalgic guilty pleasure favourite movies) and hearing it again always brings me back to the last year in school feeling.
What a doll baby Leigh Nash is. Who wouldn't want to kiss her?
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but this song was played at the wedding for Prince Edward and Sophie Rhys-Jones.
saw them live at 328 performance hall in nashville before it went away. they were a solid live band
this song is one of those that really captures the 90s. or a part of the 90s at least.
Actually, the song was released in 1999 and it's part of the OST of the movie "She's All That". đ
This used to be my song!!!! So many memories â„ïžâ„ïžâ„ïžđ„
Off to listen to Altered Images and "Dont Talk To Me About Love"
Thats a super hit back in 97 and super hit in radios super but underrated like eye of the tiger everubody knows the song of eye of the tiger but they don't know that the band survivor at the back of that song
the 90s â€
Listen to "Sick & Tired" or "Rise & Shine" by The Cardigans, very good vibe!
Sixpence none the richer is an under rated band. Also this song is from she's all that.
Just a sweet fun song.
"The Hound and the Fox" have a beautiful cover of song that you two might like..
I could listen to this song on a continuous loop for hours at a time. They remade a song called There She Goes for the movie So I Married An Axe Murderer. I think you guys would like it.
What a random song to react to đ havenât heard this in about 20 years
The world needs more âjangly popâ!!!!
A very underrated band from New Braunfels Texas
I knew their music just a little bit when they were a mid-tier Christian band. I really liked their song Love, Salvation, and Fear of Death. A lot more aggressive than people expect from them.
Don't we all long for a moment like this?
@4:20 They released 2 other official video clips of this song Brad, "Kiss Me - Paris (official)" and "Kiss Me - There She Goes (official)" videos
Correct ! I remember the one filmed in Paris. Because i was guessing the locations where they shot the video (i'm from Paris, it's my hometown).
