It must have really pissed off Aberforth that everyone treated Albus like this perfect person when Aberforth, being his brother knew him better than anyone and knew Albus was as flawed and imperfect as anyone else and remembered a time before his brother was a world renowned wizard.

Totally agree. This tiny slice of cinema was great on the acting front. Even Watson and Radlcifee, both whom are painfully mediocre actors, were quite decent. I think this scene had a good bit of tension, sadness and relief to it, which I think is a reflection of the screenplay.

    • @futurez12

@@TickleMeElmo55 Finally someone says it. Radcliffe and Watson were bang average actors, and that's being kind. So many people seem oblvious to how bad they were, they probably grew up with them and are bind to it. The actors who played Ginny and Percy were even worse. I'm fairly sure that's why they cut Ginny so much from POA onwards, they knew how bad she was. I feel like they could've easily replaced that actress, but they didn't have the balls to do it. Book Ginny was charasmatic, all action, and beautiful; movie Ginny was none of those things, and it just didn't feel right that Harry ended up with her, yet in the books it made more sense. Honestly, it's worth learning Spanish to watch the dubbed versions because the voice actors are waaaaaaaaay better than the actors used in the movie, particularly the kids. It made the whole experience 10x better for me, and I'm English! I suspect it's similar in other languages, but there's something so authentic about Spanish people's voices.

A lot of people have their ideas muddled on Dumbledore because he's so complicated. But to me in the end he was one of the most kind hearted, flawed, powerful, and intelligent wizards ever. He was young once like anyone. He had his flaws like anyone. But he dealt with them and most of his old age was spent doing something good. Being the best headmaster in the wizarding world. The moments we see him acting in a way that seems cruel or without heart ALWAYS have an explanation. When he hesitates and stumbles on his words when he says "yes he must die" to Snape it's not easy for him because he cares so much for Harry, yet he knows it must be done, and his theory in his head that Harry will survive because he is a horcrux only barely gives him enough to push him forward with that idea. He is so happy, calm, and bright when talking to Harry after Voldemort kills the horcrux inside him because it is finally over. He doesn't have to make any hard and deadly decisions because no more need to be made.

Even though Aberforth despises his late brother he is deep down guilt ridden about how late sister died. Even though it is left to debate who killed her I think Grindlewald being the evil one fired the killing shot towards Aberforth and Albus saved him by using expellemurus but it deflected the curse and hit Ariana instead and Aberforth probably wished Albus never saved his life as Ariana may have lived and will probably still wish he was killed and never forgave Albus for it.

Probably the dumbest thing in the movies was the fact many other characters knew about horcruxes and Voldemort could "feel" them when destroyed. The whole friggin point was that they had keep it secret between Dumbledore, Harry, Ron and Hermione. Otherwise Voldemort would move them in places impossible to find and literally *everybody* would have been searching for them. Why else it was just these three searching for them?

This scene was messed up by Harry telling him that they were hunting Horcruxes. In the books, it was made clear that that was supposed to be a secret and that nobody other than Harry, Ron, and Hermione were supposed to know about it. However, this scene did have a redeeming factor which was Aberforth saying "In all the time you've known him, did he ever mention my name? Did he ever mention her's?" That was a powerful line that wasn't in the book.

But Albus, and even Snape they didn't let their self loathing stop them for doing what needs to get done. Albus lived in pain, in guilt, in shame, but he kept going on put away Grindelwald, made discoveries in magic, wrote laws, became a teacher a headmaster a mentor a friend, he continued to live even if he never felt alive. Aberforth chose to waste away his life in a bar dwelling on hating his brother, and doing nothing wasting away his immense talent. Re Harry saying "I don't care about what happened between you and your brother" and "I need to get into the school tonight", I don't is arrogant... I think Harry's been through a lot by this point, it's a time factor (Harry doesn't have time to chat) and he's just focusing on what he has to do that night and had limited time.
I mean, maybe being slightly dismissive about something that someone else (Aberforth) thinks IS worth taking the time to go into - maybe just two people briefly at cross purposes and also probably he would have been a bit curious about what Harry was like in person maybe so Aberforth threw a few things at him.
    Why arrogant?

  • @DrCureAging
    @DrCureAging Před rokem +8

Aberforth just wanted someone to vent to. There's not many in their world that could possibly comprehend what he felt. Harry was the only other closest to Albus, and thus Aberforth knew that Harry was the only other that can understand the significance of his venting. In fact, he may have seen a bit of Albus in harry. Because when he vented, to Harry, it seemed like something he'd say to albus himself. But when Harry said "I don't care what happened between you and your brother", that when he knew, that Harry was not a rip off copy of Albus.
And Aberforth may also have thought that this might be the last time he'd ever have any chance to vent at all because at this point it wasn't certain Harry was going to survive, and he's a life of regret. So he decided I think to brain dump as much venting as he could all at once.
Seeing that Harry didn't care, he seemed to have a relieved face. He even did the classic Dumbledore eye twitch.

It's funny, but after watching the latest Fantastic Beasts film, one hast to wonder just how much Aberforth hated Albus. But we all know that out of anyone, Aberforth was the one person in the world who knew Albus the most, and he knew full well that the mission of hunting down Horcruxes was the most dangerous thing a person, human or wizard could ever do. And for Albus to trust that burden on a 17 year old boy with about as much intelligence as a child with gun, Aberforth understood that Albus truly lost his mind at his old age, and was still making the same reckless mistakes he always made. Though, there is something that Aberforth did not know about Harry, and that was the fact that Harry had a determination that rivaled even most experienced wizard, and an iron-clad will that made even Voldemort scared shitless.

I LOVE Aberforth too. He was a better man than his brother, always, consistently. He kept checking in and looked out for Harry & sent help to Harry and gang and cared about his best interest instead of treating him like a pawn/sacrificing him for an end goal and respected his wishes despite holding a different opinion. He truly cared for those around him, and never sacrificed them for glory nor sought any for himself but quietly did the right thing on his own.

You know it's really sad to be honest cause Aberforth has had a tough life. He had a son he had no idea about "Credence" or as he was born Aurelius Dumbledore who died not shortly after they finally met. Had a woman he loved (Aurelius Mother) who was banished by the British Ministry if I remember correctly. His sister died in an accident caused by Albus and himself and to top it all off a bit of a feud with his brother for years up until Albus died. The man has clearly had a dark time. I hope in the end he found some peace.
(Yes I know this is fictional but still the man needs some damn peace)

In the book, Harry doesn't tell Aberforth anything about the Horcruxes, but he tells him something about that there are more important things than personal safety, and that there was a war going on.
Besides, the entire story of him, with his brother, Grindewald and Ariana has been skipped, although, I recognize it was hard to fit in, perhaps in the next fantastic beast movie there will be a better approach.

The series would have ended much better if Aberforth had stepped forward to defeat Voldemort.
He would have had the experience. And in a way, "Love" truly would have been the ultimate power to stop Voldemort.
