Caught him last night at a free concert in Buffalo. At 71, he's till rockin' and still wild. And still generous and compassionate. It was great to see him after the show treating his fans with respect and genuine interest. What an amazing artist.

A "Fun" song. Great beat, love it. You inspired my brother Barry I. LaPorte. He was a big fan. I am listening to you to get closer to my deceased brother. You remind me of Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen all in one. No wonder he could relate to your music. But you are your own man and your own style and that's what my brother loved in you. In the first 20 seconds I knew it would be a great song and I was right. I've been around music a long time and you kinda know when you hear a great song. A great song has that aura and Forever Wild is one of those songs. Excellent, simply outstanding.

It's been about 35-36 years since I stood backstage at my first Willie Nile concert (at the Bottom Line, if memory serves)....I still remember "Old Men Sleeping on the Bowery" and a tear the house down version of "Vagabond Moon" from that night. I went home and wrote a piece for "The Music Paper" about what a unique an authentic voice for the City that Willie was for the time. I've been in London for give or take the last 28 years, but I still make it to Willie's gigs whenever I'm home....the energy and unabashed love for the music and the place continues and Willie and his band are still the Real Deal and an institution in NYC. If you ever get a chance to see them live, run, don't walk ("neath the Vagabond moon")....Go Willie!
Were you on the scene when Willie hit the airwaves of wbai and lynn samuels' show "part of the act"? she interviewed him and burned down the turntables playing his music whenever she could and used the song "its all over" as her outro...so cool!!

Saw him in Ann Arbor last night for maybe the third or fourth time here in the last eight years. Also saw him in Buffalo in an outdoor show where he opened for The Wallflowers and Counting Crows. What a show! My first time catching him was a free show in Central Park back in the early '80s. For a guy who wasn't able to make records for a very long time in his prime, he's certainly figured out how to make up for lost time. What an amazing songwriter, performer, and person.

Yyou got that Rosa, I just saw him in Asbury Park and have loved him madly since 1979 when lynn samuels introduced him to us on "Part of the Act" on radio WBAI in NY...incomparable artist, and more sweet and loving you will never find anywhere!
