I can understand trying to record something that happens spontaneously (like a train wreck or tornado), but a concert...please. You miss the thing you paid for (the concert), your recording will never be unique (thousands of others are doing the same thing), and no one will want to watch your 10 minute video on your phone of a concert they've already seen 20 times on CZcams already....smh.

This was the greatest live performance of all time. Everything here are off the charts. Roger Taylor's drumming was second to none. John Deacon was stellar playing the bass guitar. Brian May was awesome in the lead guitar. Freddie Mercury's powerful voice was out of this world. Queen is not all about Freddie Mercury, he's sorrounded by highly talented musicians as well.

That's true. A common rejoinder nowadays is that if we'd have had smartphones back then, people would have been doing the same thing, but that misses the point. Of course we would if it had developed at the same pace and we'd become accustomed to using them all the time, because we are the same creatures now as we always have been, but the point is that the technology has changed our behaviour and we don't really experience these events properly anymore, the technology tempts us into distraction. Much as the internet dilutes our normal human behaviour and can bring out the worst in us. We are tempted to use these technologies and often get some sort of satisfaction or even tangible benefits from doing so, but it comes at a cost. I definitely think that aspects of life such as experiencing a live, communal event are better without smartphones and cameras.

When he was on stage he sold you everything, his mind, body and soul; every member of the audience went home with a piece of Freddie that they would own forever. The way that Freddie Mercury commanded not only that stage, but the 72,000 people in attendance at Wembley, another 89,000 in attendance at John F. Kennedy Stadium in Philadelphia, and 1.9 “BILLION” live viewers (NEARLY 40% OF THE WORLDS POPULATION) that evening will “NEVER” be duplicated. It was/is still considered by the majority of artist, and the majority of music fans to be the best live performance by a band ever in the history of music. Most importantly this event really put world hunger on the map for much of the world. Unfortunately to this day children and people still starve to death while we live in a world of abundance.

I was 7 years old when this played and I remember my uncle watching this. My aunt is a lesbian and dealt with a lot of the BS in the '80s so she was a huge queen fan and other artists that were coming out back then! As I watch it today it brings back a lot of memories. This man was probably one of the most talented singers to ever walk the face of Earth. These kids today do not know what a real live performance is. I'm not a Taylor Swift fan but you can take Taylor Swift and every single pop music star today and put them together and they still would not equal the talent of Freddie Mercury! The man had a voice of gods! He was an entertainer He knew how to get the crowd going. Love how he blows kisses at the audience and he knows that he's good You can see his pride in his work. There's no voice clean up. No pre-recorded background music. This is straight talent. This is when singers were actual artists and they sounded better live. There will never be another live performance like this. There will never be another Freddie Mercury.

You could tell it was shot in the higher ranges by then. And they picked such a hard way to finish 😂

I only bought Queen’s Greatest Hits in January of 1985 & a couple of their other studio albums shortly afterwards as a 14 year old with my paper round money. So they were one of the acts I was looking forward to at the forthcoming televised Live Aid gig that July. They were amazing of course & I made sure I saw them the following year on The Magic Tour. Good job I did, as little did I know at the time, that was the last opportunity to see them live!

I was 10 years old at the time and my young mind didn’t know I was witnessing the greatest performance in history ♥️

Its not the greatest by any shot . Prince and Bono's U2 had shows that leave this in the dust

My theory is that he began the set with Bohemian Rhapsody because he wanted to get any innder sadness or feeling sorry for himself out of the way early...right away...get it out of his system...and just get down to music. To enjoying the moment. The reunion with his bandmates.
