This is 18 minutes of perfectly choreographed physical acting. Not just Rami, but all four of them. Even when the actor is not the focus of the shot and just in the background, they are still in lock-step the original. Just so so good.

I watched this live on the day, and I knew then it was probably the greatest live performance there had ever been. Now, nearly forty years later, it still is. You will never see anyone put more into a 20 minute guest spot in the middle of a hot July day than Freddie did that day. He was the best, and much missed.

@@Gisellenid Rami Malek was in the HBO mini series, The Pacific. He was awesome in that. He was in many other shows and films, just go on IMDb and have a look. You remember him from 1 movie, so that just means you have not seen him in anything else, you should watch his other shows/films.

i Watched this live when (on tv) when i was a kid it, the whole thng was 5miles from my house and i could stand in my back garden and hear it. For some reason Queen made me cry then and it does now when I watch it. the fucking power and the clival pull of them was amazing

Seeing it like this, you can really appreciate the attention to detail. Not just the actor mirroring the moves, but the couple of times when the cameras are following and it matches what's on the right because you're seeing it on TV.

I watched a documentary about Freddie a few years back and they said that Elton John pulled Freddy aside after they performed and told him it was the best live performance he had ever seen.

I heard that Elton said Freddy and the band ruined it for the rest of them; he (they) were that good! :) Love it!!! He was the entertainer of the times for sure! I loved Queen - I don't think they'll be another like them.
I can only imagine how many times Rami must have watched Live Aid to get down all Freddies mannerisms & movements, awesome job of acting
At first they hired a choreographer for Rami and that didn't work, so they hired a movement coach and that worked. (Of course, Rami studied Freddie's act as well.) They filmed Live Aid before the rest of the movie because if the concert didn't come off, then they would have to find a different lead. Good thing it worked... one of my favourite movies of all time.
According to an article in the New Yorker magazine, he watched the Live Aid performance over 1500 times.

And I was so disapointed. Okay, the show was really awesome but there was so much more to tell about Freddie's life in this movie. Like when he recorded "The show must go on" first try while he was almost dying. Instead they give us 20min of live AIDS and a message on a black screen "Freddie died of aids". It's sad.

As a six-year-old, I watched this live concert with my grandmother on TV. She adored Freddy. After she died, I said many times that I would take her to this very concert with a time machine. When my wife and I watched this movie at the cinema, I said the wish was fulfilled, I was just in a time machine and my grandmother was with me.

This is what we called perfect recreation. Even the camera and stage crews on the back are perfectly recreated.
Remi was phenomenal in hit own right - no question about that but there will never be another Freddie.
I watched this concert all day with my Mom, who was really impressed by Freddie. She is gone now, but when I watch this, it's as if she is still beside me watching it, too.

I feel cheated that I lived through this and didn’t watch it.
I vaguely remember it happening but I don’t remember being into music enough to care.

How Rami managed to play Mr robot as an antisocial introvert then move on to play one of the most charismatic, larger than life singers is amazing. Definitely deserved that oscar
not to mention his The Pacific gloomy soldier... by the way Joseph Mazzielo was there too (John Deacon here, bass player). In fact if the guy he portrayed, Eugene Sledge, the soldier turned bird watcher, had not written With the old Breed - at Peleliu and Okinawa, starting off the Pacific series half a century later, we might never have seen Rami Malek act as Freddie.

The young man actor who portrayed Eugene Sledge was played by the kid in very first Jurassic Park (Tim the one who got fried,lol) Oh wow, I had forgotten about Snafu!!! Oh you're so right, he was creepily fantastic (tossing stones into the skull of a man that' s head had been half blown off) He was also pretty funny in a goofy sitcom. He was not the star, some other kid was. I remember Michael Rappaport played the star kids dad. I should have looked it up before coming here!! But he played a gay teenager, who's very closeted, but funny.

Best part of this? Rami said on Jimmy Fallon that this was the FIRST DAY OF FILMING! The producers decided that they'd start their production schedule with the "Live Aid" portion of the film first! Talk about a trial by fire! That Rami could be *_this_* accurate on the _first day of filming_ is just unreal! He crushed it!

FUN FACT -During this concert, the government put a restriction on how loud the bands were allowed to be and couldnt exceed a certain decibel, but little did the government know that the sound tech that controlled the audio worked for Queen, and during this performance, the sound tech turned off the sound restriction so that Queen was far louder than all the other bands.
That was even presented in the film!!! I didnt really notice it or know this story even, but the sound technician removes a post-it on a slider and slides it all the way up. Didn't understand it while watching the movie, thanks!

Never will there be another set of generations that brings in a large city sized population to see a single band play. 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s we're and will always be the peak of the music industry. Queen with the city sized concert, Michael Jackson owning 2 music companies and having a private amusement park with a zoo, Metal at its peak of thrash, Rock n Roll at its peak of fame, Mariah Carey and Santa Baby.

It was David Bowie and he came on with Heroes and destroyed the place. There were a lot of great performances that day.

Nothing can beat a true live playing Legend.
One of the best movies ever made and for that guy to put that performance on knowing his fate was sealed makes it even more special. What makes their music unique is it will stand the test of time me and my son absolutely love queen and their music such a pity he was taken for too soon
