In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). In the Swedish version they bought pizza and threw a graduation party (as two different surprises)

You know I probably thought of the Swedish "slänga upp", so I wanted a particle verb in English as well. "Slänga en fest" sounds like to throw a party in the trash.
And this task was when I knew Rob Beckett just had to win. What he did is 100% out of a nightmare.

I mean, the bigger suprise would probably be if they looked around to find the source and saw the pub landlord in his skivvies 😂
Considering there are a lot of elders who like to play golf, it's even more scary.
I would have just had the crew setup some hidden cameras or something then taken everybody out to lunch. Alex would've been surprised to find that no surprise was waiting for him and everybody had left.
I was thinking the same thing. Except I'd spend the first 45 minutes making as much random noise as possible outside the shed, just for the bants
And then you jump out of a bush and scare him 3 days later.
Personally, I wouldn't have been able to resist the urge of simply locking him in.

The clown suprise would've worked better if he left the box outside but actually hid beside the shed and ran screaming at Alex while he was distracted by the box 😉

I mean, to be fair, I think Alex was legitimately most startled by the unexpected "boo!" from behind and the water to the face.
When rob goes for something under the blanket, Alex must have experienced a moment of true terror

1. Greg's reaction to Paul saying he'd been in the box for 45 min. at 3:16 is just... chef's kiss honestly.

This task is really up there, this was such a good season!!

I know she is probably incredibly busy but pheobe waller bridge would be unbelievable on this. Just imagining how she would pull this off when thinking about the graham norton stage door story, already a legend.
God, this show has the best surreal humor I've ever seen.
Series 3 was special to me because it felt like the stereotypical characters from a school class was competing. We had the goofy fraternal twins, the weird quiet kid and the troublemaking rich kid and his yes-man lackey. With ex-teacher Greg it made it even more magical.
I assumed that Rob had dressed like Norman Bate’s ‘mother’.
I think if someone went and got Alex a cake and just gave it to him he’d be most surprised that someone chose not to torture him.
Buy a second shed and put it in front of the other shed.
Here is an idea, be outside the box with a real ring and when he comes out drop to one knee and propose to him. Have a priest there as well and judge with marriage papers ready.
The clown one would have been amazing if he hadnt actually hid in the box but rather behind the shed and just charged alex. But like, alex presses the button, nothing happens, alex starts to wonder „oh did something go wrong? Is he still in the house preparing something“ AND THATS WHEN YOU CHARGE

This would’ve been a great idea for an individual task if they changed it so whoever got it wouldn’t know when Alex was going to come out of the shed, but in reality Alex was never in the shed so they just sit there ready to surprise him for ages just waiting.
I wonder which was more expensive, bribing the crew, or the gong rental 😂

Most surprising thing they could've done was to be nice to him.
Yes, it would be a touching moment given all the cruelty the Taskmaster heaps upon him.
I honestly would've surprised him by making a nice picnic with like a lunch basket, a glass of pineapple juice and some pastry. I think that would've been the most surprising thing)

A surprise is when something unexpected happens. Alex was expecting something that would be surprising to happen when he exited the shed, so the most surprising thing they could've done is doing absolutely nothing. Surprised nobody ended up doing that.
Maybe it sounds like it could be bad television, but I think Alex coming out of a shed after waiting an hour, and looking around puzzled as absolutely nothing happens would be pretty funny especially if it beat everyone else who actually put effort in.
I’m a little sad none of them got the police to come arrest Alex😕 missed opportunity

It occurs to me that the one task attempt out of the five where we can see alex put a phone into his pocket is the one attempt where he gets sprayed with water and absolutely soaked

The first one should have told Alex to lick the axe saying it was strawberry syrup but it's actually chicken blood or something. That'd be one hell of a surprise.

Put a different shed in front of the other shed so he leaves one to be trapped in another.
For the box one, I would have nothing in it, waited for him to open it out of curiosity, and the just jump scared him from behind and pushed him in it
The best surprise would’ve been bribing the taskmaster to ask Alex out to a nice dinner and not make fun of him
