What an idiot. Turned a simple traffic ticket into 30 days. You can't make this stuff up. These defendants are insane.
I just left that same comment on a body cam video. What is the level of ignorance it takes to screw yourself like thus? What is so hard about doing the right thing? Who's raising these kids? We used to say people like this were raised by a pack of wolves. It seems that was very close to the truth.

It’s generally not tolerated in criminal or family zoom court but traffic court gets all the whack jobs.
Most work from home jobs also adhere to a dress code if your job entails being seen on video calls.
I wonder if they just don't care in order to move the docket along. But it's insane that some of these judges just let people on in nasty pajamas, walking around jiggling the phone, but another judge postponed the entire hearing for like 3 weeks because the guy was on zoom court wearing a Jaws t-shirt. Didn't even give him like a minute to put on a sweater or switch shirts, she was just like "THIS SHIRT IS DISRESPECTFUL AND I WON'T HAVE A HEARING WITH YOU TODAY".
I agree I think they should stop this Zoom nonsense unless the person is sick or has circumstances that warrant zoom otherwise people should have to go to court Covid is over go back to respect of court

No, they guy was truly bad at explaining things. Listen super-closely and you’ll see he’s trying to mean the (EXPIRY) date on insurance and registration was after the ticket, so he would be covered. But dude should clearly never represent himself in anything ever again
The purpose of the fine is to encourage compliance with the law to register and insure your vehicle. When a defendant complies with this overarching principle, most judges and prosecutors are happy to dismiss because the goal was achieved: compliance with the law.
Remember that "dismissed" doesn't mean "not guilty", it just means "unwilling or unable to further prosecute".
You send a traffic court judge, who looks at insurance cards all day, a fraudulent insurance card, then get mad when he calls you out on it? Where is the common sense? Now you have a warrant for 30 days when you could have just paid the ticket.
If he treats a judge this way during court just imagine how he treats everyone else he comes across. What an immature little baby he is.

Right in the middle of the sale. He was exchanging documents when somebody came up and stole the truck. Then he blacked out and when he came to, he saw that he’d accidentally forgotten the date on the insurance contract, no wait, some big boys came up and removed the date from the contract with a secret potion. That was it.
You know he’s exactly the sort of guy who starts with “I ain’t sayin’ nothin’” then blabbers away with different excuses and alibis but doesn’t have brain power to remember what he said and contradicts himself time after time.

@@daithipol Back in the Old Testament, God called out the Jews and gave them instructions how to live as separate from the world. Beards, hair and clothing was part of that rightly dividing, showed how important proper division is. Seems the beard may symbolize strength and manliness. (Was shameful if the enemy plucked your beard). God teaches proper division, man looking like a man, not a woman. The Amish have a certain way they think they're to stay separate from the world like that. Amish men wear a beard one way til they've married and different after, think the Jews do that too (I'm no beard expert, just see patterns). Muslims do it because Mohammad did so varies depending whether they follow Sunni or Shitte. Here's some Bible verses about beards if interested (2Sam 10:3-5, Lev 19:27, Isa 50:6, PS 133:2, Jeremiah 48:37). 1Cor 11 is for men and women now. I personally like the variations in beards, can know who follows what easily.

He also said he got the insurance 3 months AFTER the ticket was issued, so the ticket is still valid.
Yeah, but the courts will almost always dismiss the case if the defendant can prove they fixed the problem (uninsured, not registered, etc).
But he DID NOT have insurance when he got that ticket. I don't think it would be dismissed at all...auto insurance isn't retroactive.
Last time I was pulled over, my insurance card had expired by 2 days. $700 ticket. Luckily I found the new card in a stack of mail I opened and when I went to court I showed the judge, and he dismissed the ticket. Now I have the app on my phone for this very reason.

@@bradspringer2372 : You had lots and lots of people sitting around twiddling their thumbs, just waiting for their case to be called (which might take hours in a busy court), not to mention all the time spent driving to court, searching for parking, etc., etc. At least with online court, you can be doing something else, maybe something productive, while waiting for your case to be called.
They should set up some type of system like the hospital in the city. Gives you an approx time of when you'll be called in real time as court is happening. As some cases take longer. They do really gotta figure the time issue out tho

Some people think being in their own home or car on Zoom means they don't have to show any respect to the judge. Or maybe they'd be that way in the courtroom as well.
It does usually insulate them from any *immediate* consequences, which makes them feel like they got away with it. Until the cops show up and they get arrested.
They definitely feel safer being over zoom. If he was in the courtroom he would've been handcuffed and taken straight to jail!! Right where he belongs lol

As part of the sign in process the person should also be required to show the front address number of where they are currently on the building complex not a piece of mail. It would also stop the stupid of people walking through malls or down the street while in court.
Probably not with the bailiff right there, but it’s unwise to underestimate the stupid, so I’m sure some would.

The best part we all know that he is not going to show up. And there’s going to be a warrant out for his arrest, and the judge is going to add more jail time. @@meaneymouse1371 But unless it is a small community (like under 2000 population) or you're getting served papers, the police/sheriffs don't actively try to hunt down the subjects of bench warrants for contempt. I have seen some of these videos where they send a sheriff deputy to the house while the person is on the zoom call. But even then it's only like twice.

What he told the judge about the vehicle being sold was likely the truth, because he just looks like the type to buy something he couldn't possibly keep up the payments on. Then he went and got insurance only long enough for the vehicle to be "stolen at gunpoint" and to get a payout on his claim. Just my guess. If I were the judge, I would certainly want to see that police report.

Detroit has been quite bad for years now. The city chased most of the productive citizens out of city limits years ago, and what is left are many folks like this guy, bottom of the barrel. They used to have 2+ million living in city limits. Last I read about Detroit it was down to 600+ thousand.

There is something terrible wrong in this country. My parents, who've been married 56 years now, taught us to respect authority & to respect elders. We were strongly advised not to bully others. My mom would still spank me to this day if I acted like this. My sister & I are so thankful we were raised in a moral home with all of our grandparents nearby. This is sad.

I’m an attorney and the piece of advice I give to my clients is always be rude and aggressive to the judge. If you intimidate the judge or belittle them they will almost always just let you go.
I really don't understand how folks don't learn how to behave in front of a judge. My goodness! I think the judge showed great restraint too. That poor lawyer must have been having fun.

I worked for a part-time magistrate judge. He always said that he never put anyone in jail. However, he had several defendants put themselves in jail.
These Zoom hearings have to end. Bring these defendants back to court so the Judge can order them straight into custody for Contempt and then let us see how attitudes change. Zoom is enabling idiocy!

Wow...and I mean W.O.W.!!! What on earth was this guy's problem? He has a lot of entitlement going on, for sure. I'm so glad Judge Perkins found him in contempt of court. Maybe some jail time will give this man an attitude adjustment.

I don't know how this nasty defendant was given TWO attorneys to represent him, but, neither could make him shut up. He earned the very deserved 30 days in the cooler.....WAY TO GO, FOOL !!.......Thank you Old Squishy Garden for some very entertaining videos.
