I still have my 2021 Stylus 5G that is still fast and smooth with a great battery life. My only issue with it at times is the big screen. I picked up the 2023 version and it's almost the perfect size for me personally and it feels more premium than the older models even if it is plastic.
I prefer 2021 6.8 rather than 6.5 or 6.6 2023 for stylus
Dude i loved that phone. In fact i used it up untill a few days ago when i busted it. I may grab a used one on ebay to have on hand. I mainly loved the Camera. I loved how it supported 4k video recording! It was 30 fps, but it was perfect for what i used it for. And the option to do UHD at 60 fps was great too. Its weird, moto seems to remove these features with newer phones, even more expensive ones

I have the 2021 Stylus (4G) and honestly I love it! I know I didn't bought a flagship phone, I'm perfectly okay with what I does and it's specs. The only reason I'm watching this video is because I'm debating if I need the 5G upgrade or if I should wait.

My complaints are software feels cheap and now EVERY OTHER ANDROID SOFTWARE is literally the SAME. 🤨😡. I MISS LG phones!

I just got the Stylus 5g for free at metro PCs and dude I was expecting a Moto G play type outcome, and ended up with a phone on par with an iPhone 11 or 12!! PUBG plays with the highest graphics settings and the gen 1 SN chip does not disappoint! And the Moto power used to have 6000mah so idk why they even call it that anymore!
I currently rock the Glam Pink one you showed off. It has a built in FM radio. Wired headphones act like an antenna. You don't need wifi or a data plan to listen to music or news. It's free too! Call quality on cellular and wifi is pretty good.
FM Radio is very useful for me.
MOTO NEEDS to stop naming all these phones so similar. G power g 5g g stylues stylus 5g etc lmao its nuts. I was at the store after a long work day and i was confused as hell lol. I ended up with the moto g 5g 2023. My only complaint is its 720p but the 120hz trade off aint so bad. So far, i love the phone. Its got SD card support, Dolby atmos in the headphone jack and a 120hz screen and enough raw cpu power to play all the games i play, well. Moto has the budget scene on LOCK. I just wish they would stop removing 4k video recording, many of the cheaper older models have it.
I got the g 5g 2023 for 175$ out the door at cricket wireless due to having an upgrade. That included activation, a new sim and a solid case. Crazy how good this is for that little money
The fingerprint reader on the back works 100% of the time, but the fingerprint reader on the power button works 30% of the time. Put it back on the back!

Great video, Wade....A while back, I had a Moto G8 Plus...it was one of the best phones Id ever owned. I still think Motorola makes good phones, but they don't seem to be as innovative as they COULD be.

So i went to the 23 5g from the 22 5g and its definitely an upgrade. But i notice sometimes in photo night mode. Therese these dots that appear. You know what im talking about? Also the security patch is on septemeber intead of novemeber like my 22. I dont have the clear all tab at the bottom. Its all the way on the left end of the apps
As a European, I have to say that I like the simple marking system of the US moto g series. Here in Europe we have all these different numbers from Motorola like moto g 23, 72,54,32, etc etc. I think it's confusing.

IS the G 5g 2023 IPS. Ive heard other reviewers tell me it isnt, are they wrong? I believe it lol I mainly call, text, listen to podcasts and play classic rpg/jrpg's like FF or chrono trigger. And occasionaly a newer game and so far, it does all of that suprisingly well

@@logantravels1234 so far so good. There is a bit of a learning curve.
Part of the reason I got a new phone was the x4 battery was starting to wear out.
The 5G power battery is ok but doesn't last as long as I was hoping, when in use with 5G is does use battery pretty fast but standby time or light usage it will last a lot longer.
I like some of the new features with a newer phone vs the x4, there are also more customizable options for appearance and how the phone works.
There is Wi-Fi calling if you need it.
But it also still has the headphone jack, which I wasn't sure I would ever use again, but sure enough the battery on my headphones died and I needed to use a pair of wired.
So far as performance, it wasn't quite the upgrade I expected. the x4 was a solid phone and still worked well for it's age.
As some have claimed about the 5G power, it is sometimes sluggish and has trouble flipping through apps if you have multiple open.
With just a few apps it runs fine.
The camera has a nice night mode that works well for low light shots, and I think the screen is much nicer looking, but the touch part is taking a little getting used to.
Wifi, text, data and calling all work well. The sound quality on phone calls has been good, no echoing or dropping, but I haven't made many calls yet.
The 5G itself hasn't been all that noticable compared to 4G, but I mostly ever use maps and stream music so people that play games or watch movies might notice the difference more. I think the 5G drains the battery faster though.
A big big plus is that the internal storage is much bigger, no more deciding which apps I want to download, now I can get them all. It also still has the SD card slot, I use it for photos mostly.
Something weird, if you use Spotify and restart your phone, it will default storage back to internal if you had it set to SD card, it will move your downloaded content back to internal, a bit annoying but there is still plenty of internal storage for my needs.
Also I have dropped the phone about 6 times now and not a scratch. I dropped the x4 at least a thousand times and it kept going too. Must be a Motorola thing, just make sure you get a decent cover for it.
Even with some of the quirks I am happy with the upgrade, and it works more or less the same since you can do wireless transfer from your old phone to new, it brings everything including texts, apps photos, all of it. You can do it wirelessly, or use a transfer cable.
The phones themselves are $199.99 right now on Amazon, if I had waited a few weeks I could have gotten in on that, but oh well I'm still happy with the phone.
I was on the fence about getting the stylus version, it looked kind of cool, but I'm not sure I would really use the note taking feature often, and would probably end up losing the stylus itself at some point, but it looks like a decent option as well.

There's a turbo charger that takes about 45 mins from 20%. Also on CZcams you can get up to 1440
I had a G Power 2020 and I think it has the best display being it's an AMOLED. And I could go for 3-4 days before recharging. I miss that phone.

Right now cricket wireless has most of these phones for free right now if you sign up as a new customer. You can't beat free no matter what the specs are and the moto g 5g stylus is like 29.99 right now so for the price it's an excellent phone. I have the moto g 5g it was free. I had the moto one ace 5g 2021 the sales clerk said that the moto g 5g 2023 was the grade up from that phone and it was free. The only down fall with these phones mostly is the storage space they all could have come with at minimum 128 but other than that it's a great budget phone. I'm not a high tech got to have the biggest brand type of person so these options are perfect.
Moto g 5g 2023 with Snapdragon 480+ 128gb and 5G is really pretty great for the price. I think it will have the best battery life in the lineup with that processor and 720p screen. For me its a toss up between that and the Moto g Power. Not much improvements that I would use with the g Power other than more storage and 1080p screen but I don't think its worth it to spend more on it especially with a Mediatek processor. I bet it gets hotter during use compared to the Snapdragon and it not really that much more performance.

The Moto G Play is "stuck in the past!" Lol! I personally think the Moto G Play is a top contender for worst smartphone of 2023. Not just Motorola, but all smartphones this year. I'm surprised it doesn't have a micro usb port. Now that you have made this video, you can throw the play in the trash can.
I think I need to do a dedicated review and say “please don’t buy this” just in case. Really show how bad it is 😅 I was surprised to see just how low the geekbench scores were lol

Honestly it's a phone to use in emergency situations. A backup phone to your secondary phone lol. That's basically what I have a moto g 5G 2022 for. It's a cheap phone that isn't the quickest but I know it will work when I need it. You can get these phones for less than $100 dollars at times so I really don't expect them to be the best. I can get the play for $50 bucks at cricket. They are very budget friendly for a reason...

I thought moto phones were famous for have a pretty pure android experience. Shocked to hear they have bloat.
They are close to stock Android. Only a few Moto tools that work really well like 3 finger screen shot and chop chop motion for flashlight plus a few others. I would not call it bloatware. Samsung on the other hand has bloatware that interferes with everything you do on the phone. I had an S20FE and it was really annoying to use constantly prompting for Samsung things.

Informative, although it's obvious you're not a huge fan of Motorola phones. I do appreciate the video, though. It helped me decide between the G Power 5G and the G Stylus 5G. Looks like G Stylus it is, on sale for only $50 more than a G Power until midnight tonight at only $249! Replacing my tried and true, but thoroughly worn out 2020 Moto G Power. It's survived seemingly hundreds of hard drops and several accidental dunkings or showering of liquids, which to me is a serious testament to the durability of these phones. Thank you!

I got the Power 5G yesterday. Before I did, I decided to check the update schedule/plans from Motorola. According to their website, the Power 5G will get Android 14, and security updates into April 2026. The Stylus 5G will also get Android 14, and security updates until June 2026. From what I can tell, the only reason it gets a few extra months of security updates is because it came out a few months later.
That being said, I was about to get the Stylus 5G, but they had literally just sold the last one to the guy in front of me at Best Buy. But I am more than happy with my Power 5G so far. I played with both at the store, and they felt very similar. I was just leaning towards the Stylus 5G because it had a better processor.

I still use my trusty LG G6 in 2024 and now it’s starting to slow down a bit. Not buying a flagship anymore since todays budget phones work fine for me now.
Sadly LG stopped making phones in 2021.
I used to really like Motorola phones, and i still do to some extent. I like that they offer budget and mid range devices. I like their basic android experience with some of the Moto add ons. What drew me away was their really poor software support. The updates are always super slow and way behind other competitors. To me, this was something that mattered.

I have Moto g power for going on 3 years as of 2024 and battery life is still 3 days. Best performance phone for sure. Works smooth.

The only thing I don't like is having 128Gb storage. These developers have to start considering getting larger storage because each time for update it eats up more and more space, especially MetroPCS
That's cuz of all the bloatware they put on the phone.
The only thing you really should have on there is what you put on it and the ONE carrier app that let's you pay you bill.
Just gotta look at what's on there when you get it.

My Moto g power 2023 5g phone I bought two months ago for $100 at Walmart
I got a Moto G Stylus 2023 (no 5g) because I really don't care about 5g versus 4g and I regretted it. Not because of the phone but because there are NO CASES for that phone. I couldn't find one anywhere, even Amazon. I am researching phones right now because the screen cracked because I couldn't find a case or screen protector. So frustrating.
The cricket store I shopped said their's (128) came with. Guess I need to recheck.

Why do all the things I see say that Moto G Stylus has 64 gb of internal memory? Mine has 128 gb, 2023 model.
I believe carrier supplied phones sometimes are supplied with less internal memory than the retail unlocked phone of the same name.

I just bought the moto g play 2023 but I only bought it so my kids can call me on it when I’m at work so they don’t disturb me watching movies and videos on my iPhone 13.
I picked up the Moto Edge+ for free from my carrier and for a free device with a SD 8 Gen 1 and 144hz display i cant complain even if the cameras suck and its made of plastic.

I think the stylus is the dumbest idea ever. The only time I ever need to draw is when I circle or underline part of an image in Google Photos in red using my finger and I don't need a stylus for that. I would much rather hit each individual key with my fingers than write something with a stylus. Some dinosaur writing a review of the Moto G Stylus said he struggles to type with the phone keyboard so he uses the stylus to tap each individual letter to write a text. So slow, so sad. I text in my phone as fast as I type on a laptop keyboard. For some reason I was never able to learn to type with all 10 fingers but that was perfect for phone use because I only need 2 fingers for my phone anyway. It's funny because I took multiple typing classes but was never able to type with all my fingers but I was able to type with only 2 fingers on a keyboard with my eyes closed. That ended up being super handy for texting, I know where all the keys are and where to tap without looking.
I’m not bashing Motorola’s devices at all, but people are kidding themselves if they think any of these phones in the lineup are even on par with an iPhone XR or iPhone 11. One dive into the camera and comparing results would be all the evidence they need. But then there’s also software support, build quality, and just pure processing power.
There’s a reason other than “haha Apple sheep” that iPhones hold their value so well.
I have the moto G play, my phone crashes while doordashing all the time, phone can barely run doordash and maps without crashing and overheating, definitely can't run music unless your only playing music. I have good connection btw just a trash phone
I just recently bought the Moto G Play, with one year of TracFone service, from HSN. The way it was presented made it look like a great buy. All for under $60 bucks, with free shipping. Now I feel like I got taken and want to return it. And this isn't the first video that dumps on it. Crap.😕

The further I got into making the video, the more surprised I was be the specs 😅 Motorola jumps around with 720p/1080p displays and 90hz/120hz depending on the year, but they never bring OLED to their G devices (in the U.S.) and their camera tech is pretty lacking too. When you compare what you get on like a OnePlus Nord right now..well, there’s really no comparison

I have both the Play and the Power. The Play was first so when I got the Power I was very disappointed. Moto G Play is far superior . The power is a Motorola and that means it's a good phone but the Play gives some choice toys to Play with
It's insane how BAD moto offerings are in the US market, then in europe we have loads of incredible options at superb prices. I had the Moto Edge 30 Ultra for 499€...

Yeah, I don’t really get it. Motorola could be a firm #3 and take a chunk out of Samsung, but their G phones tend to be lackluster, and no one even knows we can get the Edge here lol
@@TechDailyHere in europe, and specifically talking about their offerings in Spain, most of their lineup is pretty much unbeatable if you value vanilla android (main reason i avoid Xiaomi/Realme)
For example, we have the Moto G52 for 179€ (sd680+6/128, 5000mah+33w, 6.6" oled fhd 90hz) and the Edge 30 Neo for 217€ (695, 8gb, fhd poled 120hz with under display fingerprint reader, 67w and even wireless charging) both being super light and with minimal bezels.
And as I said, i've got myself the Edge 30 Ultra (sd8+g1 + 12/256, 144hz, 125w charger...) for 499€ and its basically a S22 Ultra with a better chip but worse cameras and display.

All in all, here's the deal with these Moto G smartphones: I will keep my three-year-old (sigh!) Motorola Moto G Stylus, which, all things considered, remains better than the smartphones reviewed. WHAT HAPPENED to Motorola budget smartphones?!!!!?
You’re 100% correct. Aside from the Moto G Stylus 5G, all the rest of these phones really aren’t that different from the last three years or so. Motorola doesn’t seem interested in giving people fresh new devices 🤷

I had a 2020 G Power which was highly rated when released. I still have it but use IOS phone now.
