Withing 3 seconds after she started talking, he literally yelled out to her (and i quote directly) "stop talking! listen to what i am asking you carefully, what's your usual address in Australia..." 5) the 2 US immigration officer we encountered did not recipicate any smile or simple pleasantry. 6) the contrast to Australian/canadian/New Zealand/UK... and even the Chinese immigration officers (not known for their smiling faces)we encountered was like heaven and earth.

I'm an immigration attorney and this is a very familiar fact pattern to me. The lovebirds were crazy not to consult with immigration counsel to figure out the best way for the woman to immigrate to the USA legally. A little intelligent planning would have averted this ugly fact pattern from playing out as it did. Also, the U.S. boyfriend planning a proposal at the airport was madness. Finally, when someone is placed in "secondary inspection" as this woman was, there is no right to counsel.

This hit painfully close to home. My husband of over two years who lives in Egypt has recently been denied a visa to come to the United States. this is almost so real that it should be a short documentary
This isn't even that bad compared to many who get put in detention for years because the US lawmakers dictated that humans have no rights at the border.
At the first why its not alowed to go to USA just like that? if it is so free country and america was made by diffirent people from whole europe and other countires with thier own cultures. Litleraly they saying that thier own kin cannot go to america. For me America was always like to be citizen of the world, now its more like soviet union.
@@MrBalrogos Exactly, well said.
Surely you know then that working overseas for an American company does not constitute working in the US or violate any visa restrictions.
@@artschankler6634 I don't think that's the issue. If someone comes to the USA on a visitor visa and expresses an intent to marry, the officers are suspicious immediately about non-immigrant intent, i.e. will she stay permanently and just apply for a green card? There's actually a specific visa for this, called a K-1. "It's complicated." I don't defend our dysfunctional immigration system. I simply try to tell people what the pitfalls are and how to navigate them.
@@Redhand1949 Yeah, but thats not what they said was the issue in the video. They said that she had come in on a student visa and worked over the summer, which is not allowed under the student visa. But she worked outside the US, which I do not believe is a violation of the student visa provisions, even if for an American cmpany.
She’s so pretty
I lost my visa exactly this way. I have been trying to apply for more than two years now and I didn’t know the five year thing. Man, what a way to find out, this really made me tear up.
OMG watching this is like waiting in line at the DMV. Immersive film making ugh!
Please post part 2 where they get married and live happily ever after!!
They can't marry in the US now. She can't leave the airport and she has to go back for at least 5 years. They basically ruined her relationship and her career in the US.
Guess the moral of the story is dont waste money on a tux until the chicks at home.
Moral of the story is: get married BEFORE you leave the United Sux of America.
@@jondunmore4268 Moral of the story is don't believe what university or your potential employer tels you about legal stuff..
@@mrkv4k -- Your observation is right, and so is mine, all from experience.
Since when was paperwork more important than morals and the saving of young children? Oh, yeah, since we got to the US, and they seem able to do whatever the hell they want.
Funny Man and which country does their laws differently?
Jeremy Shiu everywhere within the EU has free passage to EU citizens, regardless of nationality.
Well of course they do, America has free passage to American citizens too, what's your point?
Adam B. The Eu allows free passage to citizens of a huge range of countries, whereas the us allows passage to only one. That's the difference.
Yeah... because America is one country. The EU is a confederation of nations, so you're comparing apples and oranges. As noted above, everyone who is here *legally* is allowed to move around freely. And yes, we are allowed to do "whatever the hell we want" when it comes to OUR laws and OUR nation. I'll bet you get pretty salty if/when Americans try to tell you about how your country is a terrible place and what laws you should change. It works both ways, buddy.
Speechless...
So much to say about those policies, especially since I personally know someone that went through a similar ordeal, with HER kids involved in the process.
They all (mom and 3 kids) got to spend 24 hours in a an empty cold room with no food, only desks and chairs and some water.
No calls, no way to let anyone know.
It was like that, pretty much arrested, only until one Immigration officer finally allowed her to go to a vending machine to get snacks for the kids were they allowed to eat. 6, 8 and 12 years old.
3 years later a lawyer set the thing straight, she had overstayed her visa cause of her kid´s school, 2 weeks maybe?
I mean really?
No human rights at the border. What was once cruel and unusual is now standard practice for the US.
This hit home. I was once an international student who spent 7 years in the US. The most defining moments of my life was spent in the US. The worst part was leaving and feeling like I had those part of my life stripped away from me.
What's with the onions on this channel?
this broke my heart and spirit.the immigration in the u.s.a. is so cruel
shoshanna fachima if its so bad dont come. if you want america we will give you america including the laws
trotskyism actually i was born in new york and i do respect the laws.in this film the young doctor could not have known the specific law quoted as she was a med student at the time the law was passed.she should have been given a waiver and allowed back into her country of birth-the united stat3s
shoshanna fachima literally every immigration center
Skinlife Gaming this vid is from Czech Republic no isis there dumbass
Skinlife Gaming ok what about it? Just because they come from the middle east dosent mean their exempt from the law
It costs nothing to be kind, yet people are so horrible to each other. This is why the world is so horrible because people just can’t learn to be kind
