    Great advice in this one, when I do Gloria, it will be up on a hoist. Need that hoist for sure, in the new shed, that you also need. A bit of advice when installing a new bearing, a bit of bearing fit Loctite is good to lubricate whilst assembling and stop later shaft wear.

    My center bearing was perished after 240k km's . Got it replaced by a mechanic , and after the replacement I could feel vibrations . He said it is normal , and after 2000 km's The bearing rubber is perished again - I think because of the vibrations . Probably he didn't put the spline where it was originally , and got the shaft out of balance . I should have done it myself then , now I have to replace the bearing and to get the shaft balanced probably , as I don't know how the spline was connected originally . I am not going through the pain of proving , that it was his fault . Might be easier to do it myself .

      Unless you're confident, leave brakes to a specialist. As I said, it could be either. If it's a dragging hand brake, when the vehicle is making the squealing sound whilst moving, gently pull on handbrake a couple of clicks, if the symptoms change then you know it's a problem with the hand brake. Hope that helps. Happy new year to you too. Cheers, Andy

  • @MegaWetbrain
    @MegaWetbrain Před 5 měsíci

    Isn't there an internal circlip on shaft... The couplings are known as spider couplings. And it's a said rule to never bash the shaft with a lump hammer. Can knock outta balance.
    Technically shafts supposed to be balanced but yeah if alignment marks are made and care is taken most likely don't need to balance.
    Most people charging to balance shafts probably don't even bloody do it! I had a centre bearing replaced by someone who reckons balanced shaft. It vibrated after.
    So it was either the original couplings or it was outta balance from the way they realigned. God knows all I know is it sucks to have vibrational in ya, driveline.
    Too bad Holden didn't manufacture enough of these to go round and too bad no one Sells properly reconditioned.
    Like whole shaft uni joints replaced whole shibang and quality parts used.
