VZ ADVENTRA: Tail shaft center bearing replacement

  • The #familytruckster has been making a noise under heavy braking, and turns out the center bearing in the tail shaft has gone to #bluetooth mode.
    Let’s get the thing out and change it over. #Adventra is not the same as a sedan, so if you’re not sure how to do this check out this video.

      Those allen key bolts on the diff are actually torx bolts

      I watched YT vids with guys working on VY tailshafts. Using timber and wacking it with a heavy mallet would not budge it. Had to hit it directly while in a vice(foot on it also is a pipedream). Have to continually turn the whole tailshaft within the vice, time after time. It's a wonder the tri wing at the end doesn't bend or break. This is at 22 years old this car. It's a mission! After the fact I would recommend buying a clean rebuild on eBay for around $600. Getting it in and out is easy. Separating that spline is not for the faint hearted. That CV unit looks like an whole other ballgame though looks less potential damage that's likely with my VY universal.

      @TheRenoir turns out it was bolted together, who would of thought 🤷🏻‍♂️
