    A nice non bias review. Being an f6 owner I really do miss the V8, it can excite you whilst retaining your license. The F6 is only fun when you’re being naughty hence rarely using it’s potential

    Also, something to keep in mind when looking at it's interior for example, Ford insisted on competing with Holden's V8's with their own V8 models in marketing, and didn't push their turbo cars as the V8 competitors they truly were. People even saying Ford said the turbo power outputs were lower than they actually were, to make their V8 models look better for sales.

    Both great but if I had to choose , the blue blood flowing through my veins would see the F6 parked in the driveway . At least with the leaf springs it could actually be used as a ute far more readily than coils in the Maloo.. The proper work utes that Ford built always had leaf springs for that reason I believe ...

  • @markdurl8341
    @markdurl8341 Před 2 lety +14

    the leaf springs are actually more useful if you are hauling heavy loads. a mate of mine put 3 dirt bikes in the back of his VZ ute, the rear end sagged. that would not have happened with leaf springs. thats why the falcon ute is all round more practical, you got the barra which can do INSANE amounts of horsepower, and you got that increased load capacity, also a lot of fun to drive as a daily, no matter what variant you drive, NA, turbo or F6. dont get me wrong, the maloo is a lot of fun to drive, an ex girlfriend of mine, her brother had one, let me take it for a spin, it was a blast. but i dont like all the extra bells n whistles, they would be distracting to a less experienced driver. and as for me personally, i personally believe that less is more.

    Hi Ross,
    Great review was a joy to watch. Such a shame both are no longer in production. Something missed 🙂- some safety issues - the Maloo has poor driver visibility particularly with looking over your shoulder and to the rear where as the f6 is good and the Maloo has smaller side mirrors with reduced visibility 🙂. The F6 scores better on driver visibility🙂. Either way they are both fantastic pieces of machine.

    Great comparison, Ross. I have an '08' XR8 ute and a '2010' SV6 sedan. Both with less than 100,000ks on the clock. My ute sounds every bit as good as the Maloo. I prefer to drive the SV6 on a trip, and I guess it's because a sedan is that little bit more comfortable. I take the V8 ute for a Saturday night in town or a weekend cruise. I can't compare them like you just did, as one is a ute.
    But, I also have a '07' V8 S4 Audi, and to be honest, I'd choose the Audi any day, over either Holden or the Ford. For sheer driving pleasure, the Audi has both beat, hands down.

    • @missinglink4205
      @missinglink4205 Před 2 lety +1

      I agree the Audi would be more comfy until you have to take motor out to change a spark plug

    • @crustydownunder
      @crustydownunder Před 2 lety

      @@missinglink4205 Actually, you can change the plugs without removing the engine. It's a bit of rooting around to get at them, but it can be done. The big thing is the $6,000 price tag to replace the timing chain. More like $9,000 if it goes while driving.
      That's why most of these have low ks. LOL. Nobody wants to risk it.
      But damn, nice to drive, all the same.
      I've decided that if I ever have to pull the motor out, I'm just going to do an LS swap.

      How much does the Audi cost in comparison?

    • @crustydownunder
      @crustydownunder Před 2 lety

      @@georgea8298 I assume you mean "to purchase". A new Audi is far more expensive than either the Ford or the Holden. But buying second hand, well, there's a problem, my V8 ute is going up in price exponentially, while the S4 is also going up in price. Both have nearly doubled in price in the last 3 yrs. So buying either will be pretty expensive, but they will continue to increase in price.
      Of course, selling a collectable car is not as easy as it might sound, so you might find someone that needs the money in a hurry.
      As for running costs, they're both pretty much the same, with maybe the Audi costing a little more if you take them to someone for a scheduled service.

    The hsv is also irs rear wich makes it handle better but if you look at vin tags in the door jam the hsv is classed as a passenger vehicle and the Ford is a commercial vehicle. As the leaf springs make.
