Disney has made a lot of programs in the course of it taking over the film and television industries. However, that also means that its cancelled a lot of shows, and for pretty strange reasons some of the time.
Like how Girl Meets World totally failed to cash in on the success of Boy Meets World and was resoundingly middling. Other spin-offs met similar fates, such as Sabrina: The Animated Series, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, and Cory In The House. Then there are shows that had to end because of unusual business dealings behind the scenes, like Lizzie McGuire. Others were cancelled because of Disney’s policy of moving onto new projects after two years, like Brandy And Mr. Whiskers, American Dragon: Jake Long, and Dave The Barbarian. Then there are some true oddballs like Gargoyles and Kim Possible, which both came back after their initial cancellation.

Yeah ,there are other shows despite being liked ,not only by the fans,but Disney,end up being cancelled for weird reasons, like ,Wander Over Yonder, which was cancelled because the bosses of bosses of Disney thought that 80 episodes were enough and ,Damn,the show was too good, yeah, still a kid's show,but it helped a lot of people with problems like anxity and taught people important life lessons
Kim possible wasn't cancelled. It was very popular. It was supposed to have 65 episodes and then got 87 and a proper ending.

Honestly Sabrina the animated series was one of my favorite shows as a kid and I really wasn’t happy by its cancellation

Exactly. I believe that it would have had better popularity if it was on ABC because there are some people that don't have cable for one reason or another. I don't have cable and that's just because nobody in her house wants it.

Exactly. The whole shows set up was as if it was way kiddied down. Boy meets world was popular because the age group it targeted. Still PG but bad it's dramatic moments. It dealt with REAL teenage problems and the audience related.

Same here, I remember walking down the stairs on weekends singing the titlesong with my brother and sister. We loved that show so much and it made us laugh with tears

I was thinking the same. In 2006 or 2007 I think brandy and mr. Whiskers came on at 1 o'clock and kids are in school at that hour. Had they played it and others passed 3 like you said they would have made it.

I had mixed feelings for it... there were some good things about it... like I thought the girl who played Kim was a good choice. I believe we hate it because those who grew up with the Kim Possible cartoon will compare the live action harshly if it doesn’t live up to its predecessor. The live action was changed to deem it slightly realistic and to please the modern younger audiences. That’s the way TV entertainment works. It focuses on what modern people like and want to see not the retro ppl like me xD we r old for them. The big bucks is younger viewers.

@@theandroidsentbycyberlife Indeed, that is one of the cons I detested. I believe they did it to make it realistic. But seems to me, they changed it to bring in this new Kim Possible show for modern viewers aka younger generation who have never seen or heard of it. Not like us.
I was so mad when they canceled "Phil of The Future". The show aired from 2004-2006. It had 2 seasons and around 40-50 episodes. That was one of my favorite Disney shows growing up. 😭 Lol

Ever since they changed the art style for American Dragon: Jake Long, I stopped watching it because it felt so weird
Strangely enough I loved the art changes in the show, I preferred Jake's more Asian dragon style than a bulky "typical" American :p

If you haven't watched seasons 2 of american dragon I highky advise you to GO WATCH IT!.
Personally its the superior if the two seasons, way better writing, an overarching plotline.

They changed the art style because the original artist died so the producers and new artists didn't want to disrespect him by trying to copy his art style.

I still miss Kim Possible a lot as an adult!. I didn't even bother with the Live movie though. If it restarted again, I would still watch it.

Both hated and liked American Dragon's change in art-style at the same time. On one hand, characters like Rose looked better. On another, I liked the buff Dragon Jake instead of that skinny, malnutritioned one.

Kim Possible wasn't really cancelled. Yes, they intended to cancel it after the movie but, when they then brought it back for one last season they gave it a proper series finale end which concluded the story and cancelling a show usually leaves it on a bad note or cliffhanger.

Gargoyles was one of the best cartoon shows Disney has ever made in my opinion. It was something that kids and adults could get into. It had great animation and a great story. My dad never cares that music about watching cartoons, but when I was a kid, he really enjoyed watching Gargoyles with me, he truly enjoyed it. Wish we got more of that show. Probably the most ambitious animated cartoon show Disney has ever done.
It's said that American Dragon Jake Long art style was changed because the original artist passed away. They didn't want to disrespect him trying to do his style so they changed the whole style in general.
I really miss American Dragon and Kim Possible. They were two of my favorite shows growing up and I always wondered what happend to them. I've always liked the animation in the first season the most of American Dagon. Mostly because Jakes dragon form just looked better and cooler in my opinion. I'd wish they'd show it again. It was a really big part of my childhood and made me wish I was a dragon and that dragons were reall. Actualy I wish that because dragons are really cool.

A 65 episode, single season is the most unremarkable thing ever since a _lot_ of shows were made for daily broadcast for a 13 week season meaning a single season would be 65 instead of 13. In fact, 40 is a usual number to shoot for just to get qualified for syndication looping.
Also, why no mention of the follow up _Sabrina’s Secret Life_ which was an extra 26 episodes?
Tim Allen did voice Buzz in the pilot when it was initially released in movie form. Warburton redubbed it when it was cut up into a multi-parter for the show.
I even remember eating those Gargoyle-shaped Spaghetti-Os as a kid.

Shows that got cancelled for "weird" reasons:
What I expected: "a swarm of angry bees started following the production company halting all attempts at filming another season. The series as presumed cursed, and all attempts to revive the show were met by more bees".
What I got: "of the 10, 7 didn't have a lot of viewership (a totally normal reason to cancel something)."
American Jake Long was soooo awesome!!! And makes me upset that they never the story ):. Plus being asian american, it was awesome to see something like that on tv as a kid.

Girl Meets World was cancelled because of how they treated Shawn and Angela’s relationship. They got just as much development as Cory and Opangta, considering the last three seasons. Many viewers wanted them together in the end and it was jarring to force Shawn into a relationship with the Girls best friends mom.
Sadly Dave the barbarian was actually cancelled.
What about the original Ducktales? All other Disney Afternoon cartoons?
My best guess is they ended production on those shows when they did all they can and moved on to the next cartoon being debut. Plus, some of them had a high episode count (the original DuckTales had 100 episodes over four seasons).

Lizzie McGuire was a real loss, it was about to go primetime, and could have had a very long run of many years.
One of the few kid's shows with a majority adult audience, it was hysterically funny at times(such as the PMS episode, the mother's obsession with toilet paper, the little brother's evil girlfriend, etc.), with a solid cast and great writing.
When Aerosmith is on a kid's show, that says something.

Actually iirc Dave the Barbarian was never officially cancelled. What happened was that Toon Disney was going through a bit of turmoil with the animation studios and the corporate office having disputes over money and trademark rights. It wasn't exactly a strike, but it caused many studios to briefly stop working and making projects went on hiatus and some like Dave the Barbarian were lost in the chaos.
The main reason that shows aimed at young viewers get cancelled is that the audience starts to grow up and develop a personality of their own. Attracting new viewers in the same age range is more important than maintaining the usually much smaller audience of older fans.
Disney should bring back Tron Uprising and Motorcity. Those underrated shows where cancelled for very bizarre and unclear reasons.

Literally everything he said about Kim possible was incorrect at least for me being a kid in the early 2000s. No one had a backpack of it nobody played that song. It was almost never talked about besides maybe a few times. Also a proper ending isn’t weird it is good and natural.
The most surprising thing I learned was the whole 2-season limit. Did NOT know that was a thing. I saw some Jake Long now and then, and while I noted something was off about the animation, it was never enough for me to not recognize it. Maybe I'd have to watch it more consistently, but that sounds like a copout. The fact that the animation changed is more of a budget and change-of-hands problem that would lead to cancellation, not that it confused the kids too much. I also did not know that KP was the first animated show for the team. Super cool!

I actually really preferred American Dragon Jake Long's animation in Season 2. It felt like Jake did a good bit of growing up in Season 1 to Season 2, and the animation felt more like how Jake was seeing the world. Idk it felt like because Jake was getting older, the more bubbly aspects of the animation wouldn't compliment the darker tones in Season 2
