    Netflix: "Four hundred new shows this season! One of you might even get a season 2 even if the fans love it!" In other words, why bother getting interested in a new show on Netflix when it's highly likely it'll be canceled and you wasted effort getting invested in it? When will they learn, this is unsustainable? I actually had to research to see what shows they had that had at least two seasons, and of those, most were canceled after season 2. Side note: If the critics love it, the public will probably hate it. If the public love it, the critics will probably hate it.

    The main show I'll miss on the list is Lockwood & Co. GREAT series with good character development and good urban fantasy world setting. Another prime example of Netflix / other streaming services wildly cancelling series after the 1st season. Insult to Injury they end them on a cliff-hanger. Then they wonder why we don't watch their new shows. Well #1 reason for me is why get involved with a series that only has 1 season. You get invested in characters and they fall to the chopping block. Of course reality shows are the golden child for streaming as they have much less cost overall. When I was a kid in the '60s, they could get away with this kind of B.S. because you had only 3 networks. What content they did have was played again and again during re-runs. As consumers now, there's no POSSIBLE way you can watch every single show on every single service in your lifetime. Some genres I still watch in the hope they will last. Superheros, Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Horror (real not that slasher genre filler). I've sort of gotten used to the 1 season given off/on for Anime shows though. Lots of those (especially some older ones) have an extensive Manga line I can go and read to continue the story with my new anime character BFFs.

    I enjoyed Perry Mason, so that's disappointing. As a child, Perry Mason novels were the first ones that I really latched onto, and made me a mystery fan. The only thing I hated about the new series was that it cut out what made Perry Mason the pop culture icon he was, getting the real killer to reveal their self on the stand. But I gotta say, I had always wanted a more modern take on the series, using the actual original novels.

    • @taejasper1343
      @taejasper1343 Před rokem +2

      Yeah, it was a bit disappointing! But it did use the original novels from the 1930-1933 run of the series, the ones that showed his origin story, man! But loved the new series and it's darker take on the world and universe of Mason and how Matthew Rhys portrayed him and how he worked as a PI before moving on to become a lawyer! Sadly, we may never get to know if Perry and Della get together and how he'll out of jail which is where he landed up at in the Season 2 finale! Man, I hate it when there's a cliffhanger and it turns out the show's cancelled, all the freaking time, bro! That's what I hate about shows! Hopefully Warner can sell the show to Peacock for another season or some other streaming platform so it can continue! I need to know if my boy Perry gets out of jail! He can't be in jail! Come on! Since WB got the rights to the Perry Mason novels back so they could work on the show when Erle Gardner took it away from them back in the day because he hated the movies and the CBS Radio network radio series, they can shop it around somewhere else! This show needs to continue on Max or something!

    So pissed about Lockwood & Co, almost everything else can move on, but that actually had value. For folks who don't know, streaming services like Netflix only rate a series as a success if it has a certain percentage completely watched within a certain time frame. I know for new shows, this tends to be a time frame of 5-10 days. That means that if the masses don't immediately marathon a show, then it's seen as a "failure".

    I think the biggest problem networks have there are so many streaming services (even for your regulars), that nobody really gets a chance to watch them by time they are cancelling a possible good show. Back in the day before streaming (everything) if it was on the 4 majors, you would have at least here’d of the show, so it got more exposure to get viewers. Unfortunately for me I’m so loss I the shows that I watched on a regular basis. My husband and I moved out to no man’s land and when we first moved out here I was able to keep up with my shows. Once they finally brought out wireless/ or without satellite (internet) my husband turned off my satellite tv. We have too many streaming services that we are now finding shows that we didn’t know about or at the time for one or another reason didn’t watch. Example I never watched Bones, because there was too many conflicts and I didn’t think I would like it. I love that show. 😮

    National Treasure Edge of History is an excellent show and deserves more seasons. Perry Mason is really good too. Lockwood and Co is also amazing and is a victim of streaming services killing shows before they have to pay too many residuals.

      To me, Edge of History, I didn't watch it, but it looked like trash without Nic Cage in it, I mean, to do a National Treasure sequel show and have no Nic Cage in it is crazy, bro! And therefore it failed and got cancelled! Only two actors from original film series every made appearances in the show and reprised their roles! That sucks!

      @@sandrabiscarner9587 Well, yeah, if you don't have cable, then no, you don't usually just find and find a show out of the blue, it takes a lot longer than that! But, yeah, it's upsetting that once your show, even if it's a good show, it'll still get canned if it doesn't gain traction with as many people as possible! So, it makes upset whenever I see a show that looked good but I didn't get chance to even watch yet be getting cancelled and I feel bad for the people creating because they don't get to make the decisions, so they have listen to their executives say all the time! And their could be cancelled at anytime and it's not within their control and it's kind sad, too! I completely get it! The industry is very ruthless!

    I don't really mind "Physical" though. Nothing against all crew and cast, but I started watching it for Ashley Liao. And despite the season one ending implying otherwise for her character, she didn't return for season 2. So even though I'm "loyal enough" to continue watching it 'til the end, without her (or a "suitable" replacement) I don't really care.

    The problem with Fantasy Island is the lack of the supernatural element. Even in the 70's series, Roake had a enigmatic presence that kept you coming back. Even the 1998 reboot with Malcolm MacDowell leaned into the magical aspects of his natural. This version was like a soap opera in paradise 🎊!!!

    • @taejasper1343
      @taejasper1343 Před rokem

      Not really, man! They had plenty of supernatural elements and it was played pretty well, bro! They just didn't have time to use as much like the original series did! And that's the problem with most shows today vs. back in the day, is the difference in runtime! While shows nowadays have around 42-44, sometimes 45 minutes of runtime, shows back in the day on linear TV were 47-48 minutes long at times, which is insane because in syndication, they'd have to be edited to fit in more commercials! Which means reruns would have to be cut down to at 44 minutes to accommodate for the modern rerun timeslots they're given in off network syndication! So they didn't have enough time to build storylines and showcase more supernatural elements and lore, like with Elena and Javier's love storyline in the show's second season! That was the real problem! Not that it didn't have enough of it, it just didn't have enough time to show more of it!

    For Supernatural, they should’ve stuck with that back door pilot. The one with the cop lady taking care of all the misplaced youth in the show. It started with girls but they could’ve brought in some vamp kid and a werewolf kid that are always fighting but secretly besties. Target audience teens. Call it “The Winchester House for Troubled Youths” or somethin. The big stars from supernatural could’ve had guest parts every few episodes. Could’ve stuck.
