@@darklord884 At least when you see "Containment Impossible" on something, you know they have tried to contain it, albeit unsuccessfully. SCP: Unnecessary, on the other hand, is a phrase that is antithetical to the Foundation, who's whole goal is to contain everything anomalous.
On an article like 610, "containment impossible" simply means that the traditional lock-it-in-a-box containment can't occur, and they have to have extensive procedures to keep it away from people, and generally do so successfully.

Statistically, that means a good deal of people who write these articles about gods and magic and monsters and the apocalypse are naturally going to approach the task from a perspective informed by all the myths and stories that their cultures are steeped in.
And how many cultures in the last few centuries haven't shed at least a little blood on the altar of YHWH (willingly or otherwise)?

Many SCPs are like puzzles, requiring intimate knowledge of religious texts to fully appreciate. These SCP writers are insanely well-read and reference the obscurest bits of history, its seriously fun to dig into.

You could be right but I think that your theory is very unlikely(based on the information we got). One could assume that but then there are plenty other things we could assume, for which we dont have the evidence. So I would personally stick to the given information and maybe also similarities between an scp and a specific incident (but just when there's a clear connection).

If 999 were to cure his depression, he might even become benevolent.

personally, i love the subversion of the badtime story. sometimes i feel like SCP can slip in to edgy trash and cruelty for cruelty's sake in some stories.
Same; I feel it’s more narratively satisfying. If it really was something more horrifying than anyone can possibly imagine, then whatever the procedure “really” is can’t possibly live up to anyone’s expectations. Being a bedtime story shrouded by an elaborate lie that it’s actually the most evil of necessary evils not only defuses any gross, rape-y undertones it would have had, but it also makes the Foundation seem more clever than cruel- they know they can’t defeat the Scarlet King, but they do know what rules he plays by, and by using those rules to their advantage they can keep him at bay until they figure out a way to destroy the Scarlet King for good.

I mean I just imagined the new researcher swallowing the lump in his throat as he slowly approaches the area where the Mantauq procedure is being conducted, hearing screams and sounds of machinery, blood splattering and more. His hands slightly shake as he reaches for the door, finally finding the courage to step in. Then, as he does, he finds a sound system installed at the entrance that keeps playing these sounds while in a soundproofed room, a soft-spoken D-class is reading a bedtime story for a small pregnant girl.
This image of the horrific becoming kind of heartwarming through the idea of an illusion just makes me happy. Especially considering the f@cking nightmare fuel the researchers commit to contain the bloody deer god.

BROSKY DOODLE I believe there are two alternate versions of the Scarlet King that are interchangeably canon. The story book version where he’s that horrid god of the darkness below, and will one day be released from his pain by 999, who can make even the most terrible physical and psychological pain go away. And then the version depicted by SCP-001: Tufto’s Proposal.

I honestly like the idea of the Montauk procedure just being a bedtime story. With how the foundation is built on using lies and amnestics to protect people from the truth, it isn’t out of the range of possibility.
Then again, I also like the idea of it being a torture procedure... in the SCP universe, there have been many people who have suffered and died in their mission to save the world. They’re all tragic heroes, and the girl is no different.

I've always really wished I could come into contact with SCP-999 since I have to take so much medicine to control my depression and have to take sedatives to control my anxiety. The only natural form of medicine I've discovered is hugging my dogs, but I can't take them everywhere lol.
