I've always been fascinated by the Daevites.
The way I've always thought of it is that SCP 140 was some sort of artifact the Sarkics used to seal the Daevites away because, honestly, given the Daevites power I see no other way their slave revolt would have been successful. When new ink or blood is added to the book the seal gets weaker and the timeline of the book and by extension reality gets closer to what would actually happen had the Sarkics never sealed them away.
My theory is that the Daevites were a splinter group of the Sarkics (or vise-versa) and SCP-140 was created to preserve or resurrect the civilization.
I heard they pay tribute or worship and gaing their powers from the scarlet king.
I mean...it seems pretty plausible for their slave revolt to succeed when you remember the literal Godlike power their most diluted, harried descendants remain capable of to this day. After all, it isn't as though the power of the Sarkic 'cults' is something anyone is born with, it's a skill someone learned and taught to others. If you can teach a million slaves to read, you can teach a million slaves to raise a billion slavering horrors with a trillion teeth. The Daevites were incredibly powerful, but they were a relatively small population of God-Kings whose numbers really only grew the old fashioned way. The Grand Karcist out reproduced them, because their numbers could grow by the day.
@@iusethisnameformygoogleacc1013 and even with sarkic and their allies overwhelming number daevites gave a hell fighting for them Its pretty impressive

Florida man: "Cool!"
**Chucks book into ocean of blood**
**Heavy metal starts playing**
Once that book finds a squid, it's game over.
This was their civilization's plan. The book would attract those who would want to keep reading, which would allow more pages to be added. Eventually, enough pages would be added to make a change in time, allowing the Daevites to last longer in history, maybe into the modern era. The cost, they would be temporarily defeated or destroyed by whoever they fought against, facing embarrassment across history.
Knowledge is power, after all.
Makes me wonder that if they're written into the future, they'll be defeated. The only way they'll win is if someone keeps writing into the book.
@@miniverse2002 Exactly. Physically, they're doomed to always lose. They only get to win by continuing on through the book.
Miniverse, no one writes in the book. Fluid(blood), when put to the book, makes more pages that continue their history. As long as there is a person and a blood, they will continue their march towards victory.
@@mammon_is_god same case either way. It appears victory can only be achieved if the book keeps "writing" or adding pages. Just that their "ultimate" loss moving closer to the present (or possibly in the future) wouldn't be good for us all.
SCP-140 is also mentioned in a SCP-01 proposal called "The Database." That SCP-01 Proposal crosses realities making the SCP-Wiki ITSELF SCP-01 & authors additions to it affecting the reality of the individuals in the foundation, it is the most "Meta" proposal for a SCP-01 I can think of.

"What's an exaggeration?"
"Daeva" is a Persian term (cognate) for Indian gods (Deva). After the Indo-Persian split (or perhaps causing it) the word "Daeva" became to denote evil or unideal beings in Persian mythology while in Indian mythology it came to denote gods/demigods. The reverse happened with the terms "Asura" / "Ahura"
So basically Indians hated Persians and vice versa
@@Hans-rd9lf Not hated, more like disagreed and went their separate ways. Iran become monotheist and Indians became polytheist adopting local gods; remnants of the Indus Valley Civilization and other local cultures

So uh, Chaos Insurgency gets ahold of SCP 140 and deposits it at the base of the Pacific Ocean. Movie Plot begin.
Movie would be over in 5 minutes because Daevites are un-fucking-stoppable
What kinda creeps me out about this is that every time the past changes, that of course has some consequences for the present. My theory is that every time the past changes, the present changes, too, and we just can't see it because ofcourse in that exact moment, our entire lives change. Many people may even cease to exist or come into existance because of simply a few drops of whatever come near that book.
This makes it curious as to how they noticed changes in the book as it "should" always have been like that for us. Though then we woud get a timeloop.
The foundation has certain sites that are immune to reality warping.
That's what would happen IF their history was ever completed up to the present day. Other moments in the past don't seem to change until the history catches up, and clearly that's not obeying normal laws of causality or else the history would autocomplete as parts were added by the natural causal effects of the previous parts.
@@jaech2146 "exclusionary sites" you mean
There are impacts on the present, but it apparently doesn't change human perception of reality. There's a point made in the article not clarified here that archaeologists have discovered additional ruins/artifacts after expansion events at sites that had previously been fully excavated. There would be no "new" discoveries noted if there was true reality restructuring happening.
Man I am LOVING this SCP series! Fantastic brother. Thank you.👌👍🙏

Here's my question does any body fluid work? In video he mentions "a body fluid" and blood, but is blood only fluid that works? Because me personally I would pee on that book to make more pages way before mutilating myself.
Any liquid would work, human blood is just the most potent one .
@@ravenkk4816 then yeah if people want to make more pages they really should just drink a lot of water or their drink of choice and use pee. I mean blood may be more potent, but pee or saliva is significantly easier to produce and it's also a giant middle finger to the people who made the book this way.
You could just grab a water hose instead.
No it has to be a body fluid, water is in the body, but it mentions bodily fluids so it can't be anything just outside the human body so unfortunately a hose probably wouldn't work.
You could just get some blood bags from a blood bank. There really is no need for self mutilation.
As someone who's good in history, here's my take on the implications of the existence of the Daevite Empire:
- The Daevites would have most likely wreaked havoc across the Eurasian steppes and could have prevented or at least delay the rise of many powerful empires, nomads, and civilizations across history, including but not limited to: The Mongolian Empire, the Turkic nomads, the proto-Hungarians who migrated to Ukraine and Pannonia IRL, and the like.
- The Daevite Empire could have either obstructed the Silk Road or became one of its most prosperous users as it may have sold their anomalous goods to other civilizations such as Rome and China or probably just going full Tamerlane on the Road by demanding ridiculously high tributes and toll fees and pillaging trade centers, as well as ambushing merchants.
- Without the Silk Road, the Eurasian civilizations won't probably advance as much as they did in our timeline and our technology would probably lag a few hundred years compared to real life. Also, a likely outcome would be the Daevites possessing a huge empire, probably larger than that formed by Genghis Khan in OTL, but despite its huge economic and technological advantage, it'd still probably collapse due to a number of factors such as their unsatiable human sacrifice rituals and needs, to which the Aztecs have fallen victim to in real life (the Spanish just exponentially expedited their collapse).
- The resulting power vacuum left by its collapse could be filled by new civilizations and other empires relatively unscathed by their anomalous onslaught, and the leftover anomalous technology could spark off technological arms races between the realms which would emerge victorious in the scramble to reclaim former Daevite dominions. Assuming that the Daevite Empire was founded in early Roman times and collapsed in the 1300s to 1400s, the most probable civilizations which would profit off from the Empire's demise would include a recently revitalizing China, the southern Indian states, probably a few Arab states and north African states, and probably a mostly unscathed Scandinavia, France, Spain, and/or England.
I love how much effort you put into this and i got you only 12 likes. Jeez. This is a crime.
@@jakespacepiratee3740 Thanks, but uhh can't deny that this comment doesn't have many likes...
I'll try to continue this.
For the future of the post-Daevite world, the Empire would probably fragment into smaller warlord states or successor states like what happened to the Mongols. Their subjugated nations would try to revolt against them, and these nations' consequent access to anomalous technology could finally make the battles less one-sided.
I imagine China quickly adapting anomalous warfare and beating the Daevites at their own game of genocide and mass murder as revenge for the centuries of suffering brought by the latter upon the former, Europe declaring a renewed Crusade against the Daevites and eventually liberating the continent.
The most advanced civilizations would probably be what's left of the Islamic world in the deserts and in Zanzibar. Perhaps Islam may not have had a chance to prevail as the Daevites managed to plunder Arabia early on and move forward to quickly subjugate the Byzantine Empire, the Caucasian principalities, and others.
If it's not the Islamic world, maybe the English, Spanish, East Asians, and the Southeast Asians would probably be the most advanced civilization. That is, assuming that the Daevites were still limited in their conquests despite their technology. But, even if that is so, the Daevite Empire simply isn't sustainable and would collapse in the future.
After the reconquest of former Daevite lands, their reconquerors are probably going to be horrified to see the extent of genocide and witchcraft the former committed upon these unfortunate cultures and peoples.
Hmmm... maybe... WHAT IF THE DAEVITES DID NOT READILY COLLAPSE INSTEAD? To prolong their existence, they could simply have assimilated some of their conquered peoples and try to conquer the world. The cost of running such a huge empire requires an insane amount of manpower without proper technology....
Wait. The Daevites use anomalous technology. The anomalous is unrestrained by the laws of nature. Oh well. Maybe they have anomalous technology which allows them to overcome various logistical, communication, and military obstacles in the long run. Also they can modify time, and they can do could have the potential to subjugate the entirety of the universe to their will.
In other words, the world is screwed.
This scp series is so epic
2:18 looks like a Roman assualt on Carthage can tell by the uniforms and stuff but i dont mind cause its a badass picture
Its art/wallpaper for Rome 2: Total War
I'm more interested in the fact that this was a supposed 19th century book that was warping history. Literary communities across the ages are filled with writes who try to write out their own ultimately flawed versions of utopia... Whoever this writer was seems to have the uneasy honor of being the first writer to "get it right"
Okay here's a case where the Foundation needs to take a page from the GOC and fire up the woodchipper, and point the woodchipper into a furnace.
The article mentions a unknown number of copies of the book, so even if they did destroyed it, it would mean nothing as they would still have to seek the rest until the author (SCP-140-A) would be found and terminated.

They killed god ya know.
While they're my favorite GOI, I don't think you can get a good explaining video from them. At least, not until several others like the Sarkics and the Serpent's hand are explored.
Their contrast with the Foundation is one of the most interesting aspects of the universe to me, where their different philosophy (Either kill it, send it off-planet, or recruit it) creates an interesting aspect with the foundation. Sometimes they're dead wrong, but sometimes they're the only ones willing to get their hands dirty and *fix* something.
The Chaos Insurgency, the Serpants hand and several other, more well known foundation groups of interest will probably be expolored before it but its not a bad idea

I got to say even though it could never happen, as the amount of people involved to get it to happen is quite large. It would be so interesting to see the scp setting an foundation turned into a tv series in the vain of an anthology series, which fallows different scpes being found an dealt with, over dealing directly with the scp foundation at large. The amount of interesting stories that could be done even unique ones not existing in the setting yet, as well as interconnected storylines would be massive an interesting.

Yep sad to say
I was before now unaware of the SCP. I Love It!
SCP-035 has an interesting story you may enjoy. Honestly, there are so many... Have fun going down that rabbit hole!
Been into it for about 2 weeks. It's more addictive than Creepypasta readings.
Aramakie98-I like the idea that SCP-140 is a book. There is a scene in the “Lord Of The Rings,” where the fellowship is crawling through the “Mines of Moria,” and they passing by a number of books. My thoughts on this scene is “Guys, you’re throwing away a treasure!”
One can also imagine the stories this skip could generate. One being, There is a copy of SCP-140 in a water tight container, in the cargo hold of the Titanic, and it is slowly losing its seal. Another could be, “She hid the book from those who would covet it for several days, because no one ever checks the tank of a flush toilet.”
"If I'm gonna eat somebody, it might as well be you."
Fern gully.
I'd like to see a video on "are we cool yet" group of interest.
I love the Daevites. I wish there were longer SCP readings... But this is one I go back to!! Great lore video!! 🤍🤍🤍
So the implication is that the Daevites could potentially override our entire history? That’s actually super cool!

So they made a history-altering respawn ish mechanic.
Great.
And then came along SCP-6140, which says "Toss all of this into the trash, bigot!"
... Okay, no, it was not nearly that juvenile and was actually well written with a cleverly executed twist, but boy did it get a bit preachy at the end there.
It luckily didn't win the SCP-6000 spot, so the "No Canon" rule of SCP is in full effect.
Like, yeah, technically it's always in effect, but thousand SCPs tend to inform the common consensus of the SCP Mythos. Thus, any story that tried to explore the original conception of the Daevites would go against the common perception of the mythos.
Could you imagine taking one and just yeeting it into the ocean
I would imagine it would 'catch up reality' too much. I think the book was created by the Daevites to help them gain world supremacy, but in their plan they would ultimately secure and contain it themselves. That way it couldn't fall into the wrong hands and write the future against them, or, since the future doesn't exist yet, stop writing entirely and cause the future to be a self-destructing void.

this so far seems to be the most perplexing and fascinating scp because of how it works.
Could just anyone produce an SCP movie? I could see a whole Game of Thrones-ian series based on the amalgamated histories of The Deavites, and The Sarkic and Meccanic cults. It really lends itself to that whole "swords n sandals" epic narrative. Cabin in the Woods is very SCPish....but, I'd like to see some of the known characters or, SCPs. Would you need each writers permission?....would this be covered under fair use laws? I would go nuts for some dedicated media set in an SCP universe.
It would probably work best as a xfiles/supernatural type show
E.g. A show about a team of agents (one being secretly cain) securing containing and protecting things and objects
You could even do some fun episodes with the more fun scp's
Imagine a road trip with cain and 682 (being cuddled by scp-999 -tickle monster) from a destroyed facility to another one
As long as it's not like game of thrones that's a brilliant idea.
So long as no one takes creative license.
Cabin in the Woods. Lots of the same concepts. Mythical monsters, a secretive shadow organization working clandestine operations in service or defiance to a greater unknown threat, blood rituals, pot smoking, hot chicks, etc.
@@simonfisher7 And there could be an ark about cain and able maybe???And man, that roadtrip would be funny in a way.You could add that cain tries bond with 682, or at least tries to talk peacfully with 999!!!😍

The fear is that there may be multiple copies of the book and the book currently contained might or might not hold precedence over the others in regards to reality warping. Thats why destroying the might be bad. That and it is the foundation.

Another amazing commentary. I love to listen to you in the background while i do things.
I see great potential here. it may be worth experimenting to see what effect different liquids have on the plot of the story.
The Book was a Contingency plan~
They are obviously connected due to their shared presence in relative time, but I like to imagine the Daevites are connected to both the Scarkics and Mekanites through the lense of anomalous theology as well. The Sarkic-Mekanite holy war is probably one of the oldest and most expanded of SCP’s histories/canons, and the fact that the Sarkics owe their existence to the Daevites (via enslavement and then catalysiation via revolt) it always struck me that the Daevites don’t necessarily seem to have a dog in the god fight. Reading through a lot of Scarlet King stuff (particularly the 001 proposal and its historical addendums) I find a likely unintentional mirroring of sentiment between the SK and the Daevite Empire. Both seek and thrive amidst immense, indiscriminate bloodshed and death. Neither hold anything holy in existence, something the Sarkics and Mekanites do however. And lastly, both have a proclivity for chimeric abominations, time manipulation, and blood magic.
Following the string of coincidences, it would be a cool way to introduce a new facet to the combined Daevite-Sarkic-Mekanite canon. The fact that both the Daevite Empire and Scarlet King are tearing at the seems of reality to reappear (again, with profound violence and death being the required ingredient for both) while the Church of the Broken God and Sarkic Cults squabble would also be a fun XK Class event. Could bring a cheesey, if not conceptually interesting team-up scenario between the Church and Cults who both venerate human life for different reasons but venerate it all the same.
I have only just discovered this series but I'm already hooked and a subscriber! Loving this!
Daevites seem to bare a striking similarity to Dark Eldar from Warhammer.

One of my favourite scips. Thanks for this great video! :)
Daevites, the culture so fuckin competitive that they're willing to fuck with the fabric of time and space to win
What if the Daevites actually existed and we as a collective decided to write them out of history but the author of the SCP in canon discovered them through a ritual and the SCP was a result of the ritual and that would be why it needs liquids to work only a pseudo-ritual could expand the truth of the Daevites?
Because humans have been shown to be agreeable enough to collectively make these kind of decisions...we haven't even decided on reducing the amount of waste we throw on the air we breathe...

Dude you’ve got me hooked on the Scp site. You have given me literary crack. Thank you buddy!!!
I've just listened to your SCP 4001 video, in that there was a super library filled with books that when altered alter the lives of people who the book was about. I wonder if that Daevite book was from it, or made by the same people...
It's interesting that 4011, an apparently Foundation made SCP/site on Mars, is controlled by humanoid robots that desperately want to get their hands on 140.
Why do they want it? Humans don’t have blood.

very interesting I have been in the scp website for a while and I never heard of The Daevites thanks can't wait for more
Is Daevite civilization inherently by its very nature anomalous, or are they just deeply connected to many anomalous objects/phenomena?
So SCP-140 is a cheat code for whenever Daevites find themselves in a rough spot?
Im glad to see yet another artwork from an MTG card here
Quite fitting
1:41 Im pretty sure i have that exact notebook, just notice while i was drawing in it and watching this video
"The readers will try to bring any fluid to the book to expand it, including their own blood"
Or you know, just spit on it? Seems a bit more efficient
It would have to be legible, I assume.
I am more on the camp that the Daevites were here in this scp timeline in the beginning and was banished due to some unknown reasons. Their memory removed, history purged, and existence denied. The chronicle is their last ditch effort to rewrite themselves back into realities.
this is awesome in the most creepy way and I love it
Yet another awesome video!!
We just gonna sleep on the fact that the thumbnail/first picture is a screenshot from the Magic the Gathering card; Ritual of Rejuvenation?

This is so great your doing all the goodun's
Correct me if I am wrong, but are the Daevites in any way shape or form related to the Scarlet king. I think I saw something that related the 2, but I could be wrong.
The New Job tale claimed that the Daevas were granted power and knowledge from the Scarlet King, and that Dust and Blood was written by the Daevas, but since nothing is canon, it's up to you.
Thanks for the reply and to clear this up for me!
Early I guess but.....
