Maybe a petition could be started so Gaijin let's us deactivate the automatic radar change? Kinda similar to the square radar option, if you want you can activate it but for most people without touching it will be as automatic radar modes. I didn't notice it until I saw the video because I haven't been playing with planes with radar modes since before this actualization but it makes me mad.

Between that and more recently dumbing down how planes react to controls "to make flying more intuitive for new players," flying in this game has become very annoying

@@RayBarK1 that’s where you’re wrong, the insane energy generation of the IL-28 will easily carry me through, it is literally the XP-50 of 8.0
Even after the radar change, I think my biggest issue with the plane (and F-4J) is its extremely long range ACM/HMD mode. Sometimes I just keep lock on wrong targets. Skill issue of my part tho.
BTW this plane is so slow even compare to other F-4s, slowest F-4on the deck. Both clean or full combat load condition. (F-4E is 100kph faster afaik, even F-4C is faster)

@@DEFYN Ahh yeah, 7Fs are capable for a bit longer range and ACM/HMD with 10km is insufficient in some engagements I do agree. However, I would prefer 10 km a bit because top tier 16v16 already overloads my brain and I don't want to melt my brain by trying to lock the correct target multiple times. Still skill issue of my part lmao.
@@kiki7170I personally find 9-10km just too limiting. Imo the 19km ACM on the Mirage 2000s are the best for me.
I'd take it over 10km any day since it let's you select specific targets at long range without having to mess around with radar controls.

It’d be neat to see defyn’s controls/hotkey setup. It might sound like something as second nature as breathing or chatting up my sister but for total scrubs like myself it would definitely help get a picture of what to do with them (the controls, not my sister- again, second nature).

Between the Aim7 randomly not working and the radar modes constantly switching, I just stopped carrying radar missiles (in F-16 I just take 6 Aim9) and it so much more enjoyable to play/less frustrating.

I came back to this game like 6 months ago and had to grind with the f4j it was pure pain cuz literally every plane you come against can rinse you easily. Cant run away cant dogfiht phantom is basically a glorifies bomber with missiles now.

PD missiles should be able to track even if the lock is on the chaff but I do agree that switching lock to the mode before the lock breaks is kinda stupid
I just want it to practice having radar and radar missiles while I grind out of tier V. Sucks to hear the radar does whatever it wants, but I think it should still be useful

Can you please make a video on the 4.0 Ki-100 (tech tree one)? Still cant figure out how to fly the thing and whether I can use it as a worse turning/slightly-faster zero or play it BNZ like a J2M2 with its dick ripped off. The only videos I can find on CZcams on the plane are over 5-6 years and the single video I could find in recent years has the guy saying he doesnt really know how to fly.

On the off chance that someone knows, sometimes my F-4S will auto fire missiles within short range, less than a kilometer. Especially heat seekers. It will grab lock on its own and full-auto fire everything and I have NO clue why this happens.
My Japanese Premium F4 is doing good rocketing bases. Getting noobs Back to the hangar. Even sometimes I fire my useless radar missiles from time to time too. Stay low fly straight hit hard. Phantom phorever

F5C has been rough with uptiers during prime time recently. Playind ruing the day on EU I am almost always playing at 10.3-10.7, but evening? Constant 11.3 and it's rough.

@@PluralCHimera0 Can't deny its one hell of a teacher though. Seeing how different jet is compared to props I think its a good start to top tier missle thunder since you'll be playing with a different gameplay and develop habits for those.

I love the F4S. Yes its a brick with a really outdated airframe. What makes it special in my opinion is the armament and HMD. I think people underestimate how much of an advantage the HMD is at close to medium range, since you can use it to launch both IR and radar guided missiles.

Are those the flare ports that are just stuck open on top? Is that how they actually worked?
Yes those are flare container doors and no they didn't stay open the whole time, they should only open briefly when you launch the flare and then close.
How do you fly so smooth? My F-4 yaws bavk and forth in turns really bad and God help me if I stomp the airlerons in the middle. Do you have any suggestions how to fix that?

Did the MiG-23ML survive powercreep? It fights Aim-9Ms 9/10 games because F-15s are 12.3 for some reason.

As someone who's played the ADTW way more than I'd like to admit, the gun is the main reason I would never buy the F-4S. My main problems with the ADTW were the lack of a PD radar, and 7Es, but I wouldn't trade the gun to fix those, even with the HMD. Plus, as I am stock grinding the F-15J right now (and I'm enjoying the stock grind wtf!), I would absolutely hate being uptiered to 12.3 in a Phantom.

tough one. honestly f5c FIRST, in my opinion ofc. it's more fun to fly and helped me get better at guns. plus has a crazy damage/flight model
Fly the Phantom without the gun. In real life, the F-4’s that had no gun built in usually never carried gunpods

I wont lie, I literally play it like it's a lower BR F15,
it sometimes wins the dogfight situations, but that especially relies on how stupid My opponent is.
Sparrows are very amazing as long as You just don't use them for BVR. (BVR shots will just go up or down into the ground 50% of all launches)
do not forget how easily Sparrows keep tracking people who You're chasing because of the PD mode.
the 9Hs are decently good, just shoot them from within 2Km to ensure they don't get flared so often.
I just started getting into BVR jets and the key binds are still messing with me. It's just a whole aspect of the game that I've never even had to worry about before.
Which is why I don't understand why noobs jump from like 2.0 to a top tier premium and then complain about why the plane isn't doing all the killing for them. It's odd. Noobs never climb at 2.0, but the moment they buy a top tier jet, they just sit up at altitude being killed by radar missiles all day long. It doesn't make any sense.
Its easier to learn missile systems than it is to learn air combat 🥲

Idky but i like the f4s gun and in the vertical the f4s can deploy its massive ass flaps and either 9h snipe or trap a presurer into a 7f trap. Its very much a plane that fools people onto doubting it bc its a prem somtimes top tiers will over pressure f4s and end up losing a dogfight that was almost a garunteed win. Till they nerf the fuel consumption the ground pen for the gun or zunis i will still play it in arb and grb.
If you give a 9h a straight inertia driven path it can hit the same shots the 9l can

Hey DEFYN, best plane I currently have is the f-4c (Its pain without flares) should I be getting this plane on sale to grind out American top tier, and will this plane help me learn the ways to use radar and evade missiles or will the learning curve be too steep and I'll just get clapped? Thanks.

I bought the F4S to grind the American tree and would recommend it. Gets a bit boring from time to time as the play style to be good with the plane is one dimensional but it's a fantastic grinder. Probably averaged 1.5 kills per game and not uncommon to get 3-4 but these were typically in down tiers. You do her up tiered a good bit and generally get clapped. It's pretty good at it's tier, awesome in down tiers
Admittedly, I am ass with guns so I do rely on missiles. F5C is a much better fighter
Can you do a tutorial for the radar modes? I also want to buy the premium MiG-21 Lazur M and in test flights it seems to work(I can lock targets with both R-60MK and R-13) but Idk if with the MiG-29 will be the same.
R60 and r13 are non radar missles you can just slave them with radar a bit but they are still ir
The lazur m is not bad but r60 are flared with 1 single flare but it has an alright flight performance and if ur good with guns its decent enough so if u want to grind germany air either you take mig 21 for aircomabt only or tornado which is fast at its br and can bomb 1-2 bases and still can carry 2 aim9l's

@@Bf109F-4lover or if you want mig 29 you could also grind soviet air tech tree with mig 23 ml because you have two good radar missles and 4 r60 and the 2 r24r are basically a free kills in headons under 4 km

You and Bad Karma are just good at air. I was thinking about trying air realistic battles again for planes after 9 years and decided to look around for tips. Im a arcade player so i farm people easy there but its a different story in Realistic planes. I straight up need to understand about energy and some other stuff without getting picked off by a La, Yak, Ki, and Spitfires, since i main America flying bricks and the agile Germany...I think your the chosen one...well i was a arcade till i bought a jet and played jets only in realistic there as for planes, it’s different when i run into a Elite Commander, 1v1 Duelist or Unapproachable and a God Of War fuck that. But yeah i guess ill watch you now.
