Impressive. I may have to do the same thing to a Ranger 500 crew. How many man hours did it take by task? Removal? Rebuild? Reinstall? By the way, there is a special $50 tool to remove that secondary clutch, or you can find the video on here where a guy grinds down a threaded rod to do the same thing. How much did the parts cost total?
Hey, so im trying to replace my cam chain tensioner on my 2011 rzr 800 where at on the engine is it? im having a hard time finding it. Any advice would be great. Thanks
Yes you can replace the cam by pulling the cylinder head, stator cover, stator housing, flywheel, stator, bendix, cam gear, balancer gear, and pulling out the lifters, but all that is a huge pain with the engine stuck in the bike and if your cam has gone bad then it probably means you haven't been keeping the oil clean or up to the correct level or you could have a problem with the pump; basically you probably should take the engine out & look at the crankshaft to make sure it isn't failing or you'll be doing it all over again.
If you are going to replace the cam, you will have to take off so much crap that it'll cost a fortune if you buy all the seals and gaskets separately so look for a seal & gasket kit on ebay to save money
@@adamharding7617 well on mine i but the side gears on and all the top end then put my finger over spark plug hole and turned it counter clockwise when turning it over i could feel the compression so when piston got to the top i checked the dots to make sure they lined up if they dont then you have it timed on the wrong stroke also before i tore down the bottom end i lined up the dots and then looked to see what way the lobes were pointing so when i put it back together the same way
This video shows how to do lots of things wrong. Guaranteed to have lots of problems later. You'd have saved yourself a lot of headache by just taking off the clutch to start with (you can easily make a DIY clutch puller with a 3/4" rod, a couple nuts, and a grinder) and you tried separating the crankcase before taking the other shit off which probably warped the engine block from all the prying you did. When you put it back together, you didn't bother talking about the types of gaskets, which ones need gasket sealer, which ones should be dry, and which ones are a liquid. You didn't talk about priming the oil pump (so you probably didn't do it which means that it won't be long before the engine seizes) and you didn't talk about torquing the bolts for each component or the sequence for doing that. This video is dangerous because it could cause people to screw up in a very expensive way.
Great vid, liked how you skipped ahead and showed quick progress. I have an 8oo to tear down now i know what im in for.
You showed pretty much NONE of the procedures to put this engine back together. :(
More like a picture reference only
You guys learned the hard way but hopefully someone else benefitted from it. Sucks that primary puller is like $15 but whatever spilled milk
How long did it take you to rebuild the motor after you got it out of the bike
So the timing? Do you just line up the dots? They don’t have to be 90 degrees with anything?
Did you ever find a answer to this?
Where is the oil filter located on the 2013 800 ranger motor??

Tom Hynes It took about 2 days and cost about $400.

As far as I know this is a pushrod design engine.
Doesn’t look much different from a engine from a car. I think I can tackle this myself.
Does anyone know where to get the tool for priming the oil pump?
What is the timing or you making us buy the repair manual!?
You line up the timing marks on the gears &yes buy the manual please, it'll save you a lot of regret.
Where did you get your parts?
How much tension was on those timing gear springs ?
Hi, do you know if a 1999 Polaris Magnum 500 engine can replace a bad engine in a 1997 Polaris Sportsman 500? thanks for your time
Do you think it’s possible to replace the camshaft without pulling the engine completely?
James Hill possibly, but it’s not too hard to remove the engine so it would probably save you time in the long run.

Can I ask the location of engine number and chassis number of polaris ranger rzr 800
how do you time it? tdc and line up the dots on the gears and that's all? could it be that simple
Black, what did you find out about the timing?
Yes just line up the gears, they have a tiny dot on them
@@russelllund7283 you have to time the engine on the compression stroke to time it on a 4 stroke there is 2 top dead centers
pupbiking how do you know which one your on?

Why is it squealing?
You don't show any of the procedures , look old engine now it's new WTF
