    Hi Mateusz, @3:18 you've connected the SSD via a cable - which cable is that or do you have any recommendations?
    One highly rated SSD to USB I found was maxed around 400 MBps (read speed) but I'm not sure if that affects performance while editing off of the SSD directly.

  • @skrotfiske
    @skrotfiske Před 2 lety +5

    Does the camera actually output 10-bit over HDMI when in playback mode? I contacted Canon support and they didn't know (lmao, how can they not know?) they said they would get back to me but they never did, this makes me believe it's not actually 10-bit. It's def a faster way to get a ProRes file that looks like a 120fps file but it's not actually a 120 fps file and it seems like it might not be in 10-bit either. Fast isn't always best.

    • @VyasAnand
      @VyasAnand Před 2 lety +1

      This is a good question and I believe it would be, if it is in the menu on the Camera for that (like Sony that kets you have multiple codecs from 420 to 422). That said I would hope the camera is sending out the highest signal it can, I am going to read a bit about this, again great question.

    • @mj.cutsense
      @mj.cutsense  Před 3 lety +1

      In the case of ergonomics, I would definitely go with the c70. Prores is an important advantage but you can't use it with 6k so is not that useful anymore. With pocket 6k pro, you can't use a speed booster so you're cutting part of optics on a full-frame lens. C70 is more versatile for me with a 0.71x adapter and nd filters combo it's super convenient to work with. It depends on your budget but if you're able to afford it c70 is a better choice in my opinion.

      @@mj.cutsense thank you for your response. actually have watched some YT videos since of people editing braw natively in premiere pro which is pretty good, even up to 6k - sure must be powerful machines but I think my one should be able to handle it tbh. although in most situations i would prefer prores still, maybe there ll be a prores raw firmware update some time. with your C70 whats your editing experience been like? ever had any playback issues? on any of the codecs? yea its true you do lose the full frame/bigger field of vision with 6k pro - though there is now an optical insert adapter by LucAdapters that will give you a near full frame field of view, worth investigating I suppose.

    We suspect that the Ninja 5 plus 8k doesn't entertain the bmpcc 6k & bmpcc 6k pro being upscaled to 8k. Sadly however the Ninja V+ (8k) doesn't appear to entertain Blackmagic's BRAW format at 8k and doesn't look to be upgraded with these additional features anytime soon such as in future models such as the Ninja VI plus! Unfortunately ProRes within this configurment is only restricted to 4k 120fps!

    Not sure you’re still keeping this channel but I’ll give it a try . This is pretty slick work around but I find flaw with playing back the footage and ninja recording at the frame rate of 59.94 without option for changing to desired rate . My camera hdmi out it’s set to 2160 /24 fps but that doesn’t effect ninja . Changing to Raw out in camera doesn’t change anything , only thing changes is if I’ll go 1080 then shows on the recorder hd instead of uhd but the frame stays the same no matter what . @skrotfiske Před 2 lety +5

      no, if your camera only does 4K 60fps then all you can get is 4K 60fps. The Atomos Ninja V can't change anything about your camera. His camera (Canon C70) can already record 4K 120fps and then he plays that back in camera in slowmotion already which the Atomos Ninja V can record. It won't be full 10-bit or a true 120fps recording either, it will only look like one. It's a faster way but not a better way. Transcoding the footage properly is a lot better than doing this because you won't get a 10-bit 120fps file but a 8-bit 24fps (or 25fps) file. Anyhow, you can't get 120fps using the Ninja V if your camera can't do 120fps.

      I think you didn't understand at all. There is no single word about better quality or multiplication of framerates. C70 sends interpreted 25p signal via HDMI. Firstly, the signal is compressed to long-GOP, which means you only transcode the file to a more friendly codec. You should listen carefully and don't draw poisonous conclusions.

      Could you tell me where this is misleading? The final result of this video is having 120p file on your Atomos recorder.

      @@mj.cutsense you are not recording a 120fps stream. you are recording a 24/25/30 fps playback depending on setting. same (and probably worst as canon doesn't specify the hdmi playback settings) as transcode in post.

      @@kaotic2007 Yes, and I made sure to label it very clearly. It's the same as shooting in 120p S&Q, which the camera interprets as 25p. You cannot name it differently because it is 4 times slower than native 25p.

    Bad move on the clickbait title. Good video, however I gave your algo the thumbs down -trust is earned.

    So you double your work (and then double your time again) to record and re-record the footage? what a joke and misleading title. Thumbs down from me my dude 👎
