Today I work on an actual dirty, crusty, 1:18 Scale Hot Merc Woody Wagon. This thing lived in a box in someone's garage that had water damage. The whole thing reeked like cat pee, all the crust on that thing is the real deal, look at the interior its so gross.

The teal is awsome. FYI BareMetal hotwheels sprayed that liquid chrome pin threw his air brush with pretty sharp results. There is a lot of chrome on the wagon. It might send it over the top.
I've seen him do that, but it never truly looks the same. I'll come up with something
Ive worked a body shop most my adult life. You're blending is on point. I have a tip for you....if you wanna make your paint jobs look way deeper, put maybe a quarter drop of your color in with your clear. You dont wanna see it in the clear when you mix it. Just a little color mixed in the clear. Once you spray it and it dries. Man it looks so deep and rich
This paint is AWESOME! I'm very late coming to this painting. I'm in my 50s and do plastic model's. I wish the paint wasn't expensive but I'll try to get a lot sale on these. The candy colors are really crazy beautiful! You do extremely beautiful work. I hate being broke and poor but I'll keep going.
David Johnson hope you get those colors!
I personally would watch an hour and a half of you working on these bigger vehicles. 😃
Oh and the paint looks great!
Very cool as usual, can't wait to see the finished product! Say hi to Jimmy for me.
Me and my dad bought over a 100 of these cars when you could get them for 20.00. Some are loose and some still in there boxes. I love how you do your restoration on keeping these cars in great shape. Thank you.
Tealicious indeed! The spraybooth master.
Totally agree with that
I’ve been waiting for this!! Can’t wait for part 2!
I love the 1:18 scale models, and this casting looks awesome. Beautiful choice for the color I think it will match well with the panels. A diecast Resurrection surfboard would be the cherry on top of the cake.
Your paint skills are off the chart!!! Loving the Merc.
can't wait to see it when you finish!
Project is moving right along.
P.S.
Jimmy would like the following items.
Some trees for his yard, a dog and cat,
Some lawn chairs and bbq, and a swimming pool, maybe a few old rusty cars on blocks for decoration.
Thank you!!!
Great job blending up to the over spray at your engine compartment. I have used a silver as a base from house of color and it damn near dries before it hits the car. I'm going to have to look at Createx paints and soon ! 🍻
The dark teal coming out awesome!! Will definitely tune in for part 2
Whoa! Very cool and can't wait to see the rest of this build. My uncle has a 1951 Studebaker Bullet Nose Commander that is almost this exact same color so I am biased on the choice. Supercharged 429 shoved into the Stude.
Great video as always. Cant waite for part 2. Your funny commentary you add to your videos makes your video's even better.
So glad you went with that color. It's going to looks killer with the light trim. I'd leave the interior light as well.
Very cool looking. I like the colour that you have selected. The interior deserves more attention. A nice flocking for the carpets at least. Same for the engine, a couple of wires would look great.
Your videos are some of my most favorite I've ever seen. Love your sense of humor and personality. You make this stuff look really fun plus I've learned a lot about modding Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars.
Thanks Zidders!
Wpw off to a great start loving these bigger car restores and customs. cant wait to see part 2.
Insane paint work. Thanks for sharing.
I would have gone with the light blue in the center of the page, but after seeing the teal, it's outstanding!
Nice idea with the superglue on those steel wire brushes because I find them talking to my skin all over the place
Beautiful paint can't wait to see the finished product, you made me grab out a Datsun 510 I needed to finish also from taking different cars of this scale apart from different brands there could be a screw under the front suspension that hold the motor in
That is going to turn out fantastic! I can't wait to see the next one!!!
friendly reminder. The firewall on engine side of interior was painted original red @ 2:34 . You may want to mask and hit with at least the primer and teal before you get too far down the road. looking forward to pt2.
Looks great! I can’t wait to see part two!
Now Folk's that's a tutorial. From Shabby to Shinny and Pimped to boot. Awesome job, Loved every minute and looking forward to the next installment.
Great work, very entertaining, makes me want to try restoring a diecast car.
Amazing work bro. Thumbs up from Brazil, I'll surely be back tomorrow to see this beauty.
I enjoy restoring model cars. It is a lot of fun
this thing will be awesome! Great tip for the wire wheels BTW! So helpful, mine always go bald. the wires fly everywhere, and the get stuck in skin really easily
Looks great so far, nice restoration going on!...Bill
Your humour is just so like me, love it 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Awesome video as you always do, well done from UK 🇬🇧
Thanks brother, I want subs that are insane like me hehehe
Diecast Resurrection I definitely am, I use so many double entendres in my videos and now you have absolutely inspired me to go completely gaga and my next restoration project, I’m gonna take a Kirby Vacuum Cleaner, sand blast all the metal and go ape shit and spray paint it custom style! 🤣🤣🤣😘😘😘😘😘
Can't wait to see the finished product
The teal is absolutely perfect. Dave
Master blending right there Boys and girls! 😍
You have the eye and the vision before it’s done abilities 👍🏻🏆👍🏻
Oooh 😮... what a big Woody you have there, we love a nice polished woody moment DCR!!! 😘
SO nice! Jimmy's gonna need a pair of KISS boots to reach the pedals, though.
cool that paint is off to good start!!! boo that i gotta wait for part 2!!
Dude that's bad ass paint job. I love the color can't wait to see it finished.
I have this model in my collection, dark green with the wood paneling, looks way better than the pinkish red , yeah it does have a single surf board in the back, nothing to elaborate just a flat piece of plastic shaped like a surf board same color as the interior, I'm sure a crafty feller as your self can come up with something way cooler. Paint looks great 👌, waiting for part 2.
I have two Hotwheels 1/18 scale diecast cars. One is a '69 Dodge Charger, the other is a hot rodded '67 GTO. They are both very nice cars and have held up well over time.
Really awesome job looks amazing
Its looking good bub! I really like the teal choice, that lime green would have been cool too, but I like where you're going with this!
Tip on taking old screws out that look like they are rusted. Screwdriver and hammer tap the screw driver in the screw with the hammer and hit and twist so it won’t strip
Tealalicuos....👍👍👍great choice with the wood....can't wait for vid 2!!!!
Nice .. but you forgot to do the dashboard.lol. cant wait to see it with the chrome on it.
Beautiful work sir!
Thankyou Mr Diecast Resurrection😊😊 shes Beautifuuulllll, Bring on part 2 yeahhhhhh.
I used to paint aircraft for a living. Aircraft paint stripper. I actually feel nostalgic about that stuff watching this.
Awesome video! Like that 1:18 hot wheels
Nailed it as usual. Hated that car until you painted it
Looking good, love the color👍
That was in pretty good shape. Nice work.
Looks good, I’ll be waiting for part 2
Been waiting for this one since you teased it a few weeks back, can't wait for part 2.
That's an amazing color. Very nice choice
Dude I’m hella excited about you doing these big scale cars. Adds a little extra spice to your channel 🔥🌶👍🏻
This is amazing 😍
I would love to send a 1/18
97 Trans Am and have it look like my car
i have an idea for painting:
you coul put on the primer first (white base)
then i imagine taking a paper towel and wrinkle that up. then take the wrinkled paper and dip it into a black and just dot it on all over the car gently so you have black wicked lines all around.
add a pearl effect colour to that (like a darker green as primary and then a red as pearl)
i think that would look so awesome, kinda like a snake. makes me want to grab some of those big models myself :D
That model is so big, you might as well climb in and drive it around. 😆 I think it technically counts as 3/4 of an actual car restoration. I got a couple of all weather radials I'll sell you for cheap. 😆😆😆 Beautiful job as always, clicked as soon as I seen it come up.
can't wait to see the end result!
I have that Merc & it's Surfboard on my shelf. Nice film! B.P.
Sweeet as hell bro 👍👍👍👍
Cant wait to watch part 2, i have been waiting patiently for this woody project
Funky
I hope this reaches you in time I'm pretty sure that the screws that are attaching the front suspension also hold the Motor Inn
Lovely colour 👍
Gorgeous color choice
Alan Jackson said it best; Crazy 'bout a Mercury !
Check out the Alsa chrome paint. It looks like real chrome and you can brush it on or spray it.
That color looks awesome can’t wait to see the next vid
Dude, after that corvette red paint job, your booth looks like a crime scene. haha
Great stuff as always!
that teal caught my eye right off the bat on that catalog goin please pick it lol good work
Its going to be a bit darker in the pic, but then the light hits it it'll be more dramatic!
@@DiecastResurrection cant wait to see it tmmrw gonna be awesome love the flake look already good call
I'm a scale radio control car, crawler, airplane, boat, helicopter, and even submarine builder...And what you got there my man is some Tami-yami-yay Putty. That's that magic, I love that stuff. Tamiya had been around in the scale model and radio control business for ages now, them crazy Japanese make some world famous models, been around longer than you and I both. But that putty is great 👍 Hell, it fills, it smooths, it sands, it sticks, it is that Tamiya Putty magic. Kind of like that CA glue dab with baking soda sprinkled on top. You know, for that instant hard as a rock bonding magic. Don't knock it till you try it. Dab of super duper glue, then sprinkle on a pinch of that baking soda like you 're salting that jerky. OH YEAH BABY!!!
Paints looking tight bruh!!!!!
Beautiful so far
Awesome video man!
OH yeah, that's going to look P I M P! can't wait to see the finished product. Hell yeah man.
Blub Blub Klib Klib Sick Dude!!!
fantastic rebuild .................................................... as usual looks great
10:28 😄 That’s a keeper, yes.
Great color.. I think the 1:18 scale is really cool . gotta find me some. Carl M PA
Can’t wait for the reveal.
Amazing job bro 👍👍
Very nice job today!
What a fantastic color!
Love the color!
awesomeness, I think staining the wood parts so they are darker would look brilliant.....you could try building up a dark wash over several layers. Also removing the chrome from the plastic and respraying would really be the bees knees. Just my thoughts :)
Pretty cool the corrosion spots are like Bondo on a real car ....a small sand blaster would be useful on the big stuff
Many parts 1 masterpiece 🤝🏆
Try Bondo spot putty, it works great on diecast. I don't like putties made for plastic, they don't bond to the metal as well and the Bondo is much stronger. I've used it a lot in the old Hubleys I've restored.
Diecast who’s this awesome man doing awesome things? But boy seeing that strip is satisfying idk if it’s bad or not 😐
That color is sweet for that car, i had a 66 Pontiac lemans very close to that called marina blue i think. Was crazy about its looks, sad to let it go
that paint stripper is wicked
thank a lot for your video it helps a great deal.
Cant wait till you finish it off .
"Full 'a pubes" ... Dude, this is why I watch this channel. Not afraid to make a joke like that nowadays. Total respect and admiration of you!
Wow Great Work 👍 🇺🇸 I'm glad to see that you are not one of those guys that would go to a Dollar General Store or Dollar Tree and get this dude another one exactly like it and then say here you go sir where's my money.
