Hard to believe that you've never heard of ERTL....they've only been around for about 80 years or so...
As a model builder, I mostly know Ertl from when it owned the AMT/MPC brand. A good old Dyersville company.
I only know ertl when I found a farm set from them and later bought a green Pontiac police car of it.
I've only been doing this since Oct though :D
@@DiecastResurrection ,Brother man, you are a phenomenal artist. I love these videos. Dude, I'm a wounded warrior that follows all your stuff. You inspired me to start dabbling in hot wheels and stuff. Thank you for the connection.
Who didn't have Ertl stuff?! "The Fall Guy", "M.A.S.H" "The A Team"....all the cars from the shows we grew up with were made by Ertl.
I'm glad you DIDN'T go the bandit route. Way overdone these days.
It is a 73 but I agree with you
Imthought the bandit was an 77
To every one ells that already said that the Burt Renoylds Bandit is a 76/77 i am to young to agree or argue so i will not but what i do agree to FordMan 2018 is that im also glad he didnt go the bandit way sure the Bandit Trans Am is a cool car in its way but not every damm Trans Am needs to be a bandit just because 👍
Forget the Bandit. You can make the Eric Estrada Trans Am from Chips.
Good one. Gold color Nice.
Tku
Ponch’s TA was a ‘71. Respect the Ponch.
@TADionysus only difference is hood and slightly different nose
have you thought about turning a new 1:18 into a barn find? (patina'd and rusted out)
So glad you're painting it traditional. When i think of a 73 Fire-chicken, its white with the blue bird. Pretty excited to see this build. Cat pee....glad there isnt smellovision yet!
A white 455SD is way more cool than the Bandit bird.
Yes!
Was hoping for the snorkel style hood that goes with those.
It's not even the same year of the bandit car
@@sethmccormick6003 That's obvious.
White with blue stripe, please. I love the Bandit cars but this was never meant to have that color scheme.
Dude. As a Pontiac guy, I can say that this is damn near my favorite resto youve done. Im still deciding on your apocalyptic resto mods or this. Beautiful work.
You handled the pitting on the body to perfection can't wait to see the finished trans am
You're totally right, man. Bandit Trans Ams started somewhere around 1977. An SD-455 Trans Am would be way cooler (and more appropriate) for this.
Can’t wait for part 2!
That’s what I mainly collect 1/18 American Muscle. These cars now sell for about $90.00. Originally these were made by ERTL but are now owned and manufactured by Auto World.....the new ones coming out are super detailed. Wired and plumbed engines
Can't wait to see the finished product. Looking good so far.
I think the white with the blue bird is a better paint combo than black and gold anyway good choice imo
Ertl is a company out of Dyersville Iowa. They've been around for decades. And are probably best known for their diecast farm implements. Vintage Ertl tractors are highly collectable. Back in the 60's the company I now work for molded the rubber tires for their scale tractors and what-not. At the time we were the "largest" tire manufacturer in the world. :)
Ertl makes great 1/67 farm trucks not as detailed as green light but u can make really fun builds out of them. U can mostly find them at tractor supply. I loved playing with them as a kid🚜
i have seen several of model car and toy restorations on this web site, i must say you are about one of the best. very meticulous about details and your craftsmanship is second to none.
You should get sccotchbrite wheels for the dremel. They wear out quick, but absolutly worth it with the nice surface you get.
He has 'em... He used one in a video. I can't remember which video though
Anticipation on the white paint job with blue decals!
Keep the 1/18 restos coming!
Could have made it into a Rockford Files tribute car, but T/A's are bad ass no matter what!!!
sean robison that would be cool! Loved the Rockford files as a kid. James Garner was the boss!
Coming out good. The White will be right for this year bird. Bandit started in 77. Thanks for not ruining the Reputation.
Why is it so satisfying to watch the paint peel off? Probably because it’s the gateway moment to awesome possibilities!
Хочю сказать огромное спасибо за ваши ролики.
Хатя я и в англискам язызе и не силен на смотрю с большим удовольствием.
Еще раз спасибо за вашу работу.
Лайк за каждый ролик.
Вы ТОП 1.
От души.
Thanks buddy!
Look on Amazon or eBay for 1/18 scale RC rims/tyres. Should be fairly easy to make a axle to work for them.
blub it in! blub, blub, blub, blub, blub LMFAO-The commentary is great! Step Brothers' references...
The will ferrel reference with the activities comment had me smiling! And that's why I love your channel!
Love this kind of stuff! I just wish that i had a steadier had... but CP makes things a lot harder sometimes... :/
You would be amazed at the amount of diecast and 10 toys Ertl made. It brings your supply of to do vehicles very high. Ertl has been around since 1945.
Hey man great work with these 1:18 scales, the details are phenomenal! I’m surprised though you didn’t remove the doors. Passenger side door shut looked unpainted at the end.
He painted it white! That's the color I suggested!
I commented about the color on the Corvette part 2 video.
Same! I said white with blue decals! So stoked! Great minds think alike 😂
Dang that’s a full on 70s shaggy bush! 😳 #729
I'm glad you're not doing a Bandit with that. Not only is it the wrong car for it, but it's kind of cliche. You have a chance to subvert expectations and bring to life something new or at least something we don't have thousands of. Knowing you, it'll be cooler anyway, haha
Nice that you went with white. To me white is the iconic color of the early T/A's. Hope that you go with the blue bird with the black center to it. I love that graphic.
Very nice restoration. All that dirt... boah... Hope you will do a Trans Am in the colors of the early 1970th.
Dam that 1973 Trans Am looked like it hit puberty hard in the interior and Diecast when in cleaning and shaving lol
"so much more room for activities!" LOL - nice pull! Love your vids, as always!!
Great that you talk through the videos. 🇬🇧
Can't wait to see the finished car!
Yes perfect choice to paint it white with blue - the best looking color combination on those old Trans Ams.
Glass bead blasting cabinet would save you fair bit of time on these 1:18 scale cars for sure
The interior looks like every car i ever owned.
Getting ready to do a restoration on a real 1973 455cid bird in red I have owned for 27 years. Loved driving it till engine went away. It has been off road for 19 years
Ive been watching you and few other die cast restore channels for a while now, and have always been curious...Have you ever thought of using a super fine grit in a sandblaster application to remove paint? I feel that would work really well and may even help blend some small pitting in the body. Just a thought lol great video as always!
Good on you for not doing a bandit.
Ertl was a massive player back in the day. The Dukes of Hazzard and The A-Team diecast from the 80s were all Ertl.
Thanks for not doing a bandit replica ! This is my favourite car from the three 1/18th's you had and will look fantastic with a cool paint job. Thanks !
The cannonball run trans am would be cool! But white with blue stripes is sweet too.
OK done watching part 1, ready for part 2!
Great job, I enjoy watching you work!!
The more you work on these I can see the draw. WAY more detail on these by far. You found a little gold mine...(covered in fuzz and cat piss) but a gold mine none the less. Keep 'em coming.
Glad youre doing a anniversary style paint and decals bandit is soo done to death
Love watching the 1:18 scale Restorations. You do a great job.
Nice that someone tried to flock the seats before you got it.
You do very nice work and your videos are very enjoyable to watch 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
this would look sweet in orange with white stripes, candy apple red with a sweet looking flame design or green with white stripes!!!!!
Rockford files for sure!
Love Rockford! Technically, that wasn't a "Trans Am". It was a Firebird Formula ('74-'78 models) re-designed to look like the less expensive Firebird Esprit. The '74 front end was different, and had no rear spoiler.
"So much more room for activities!" I see what you did there😂
This is gonna look awesome with the blue bird decals on it, super keen for part 2!
I subscribed to your channel for the Redline Hot Wheels stuff, but I like how you are tackling the 1/18 cars too. I also collect 1/18th scale cars and have a few custom projects on the back burner. If you are interested in getting more into 1/18 scale customizing, I would suggest checking out an awesome Facebook group named "1/18th Scale Diecast Junkies". Very talented artists there, as well as those who are more collectors than customizers. Very cool and supportive bunch of guys there!
You had me at 'more room for activities'
White is definitely a great color for this one.
Yeah, no reason to do a bandit when Greenlight makes a really nice one for $70. I’m gonna start building some model kits again because of you and baremetalHW. The last one I built was the OG Cylon raider from Battlestar Galactica in 1978. This was cool and you’re still the best painter of toy cars on CZcams.
Dam!!! You do some good work. I wish i could send you my 1942 Chevy coupe to work on. But it's a real car. Lol .i really enjoy your channel you are the best. keep up the good work, and be kool.
That is one cool looking TA! Im sure it'll turn out awesome as usual!
A white SD455 with the blue stripe would be really nice! suits this car way better than a bandit tribute. its the wrong model for a bandit anyways
I'm searching for 1/18 honeycomb wheels with Firestones for a project....now i have a direction!...thanks!!
kool , thanx
Robert
Good to see this channel is Trans positive.
ERTL is a huge name in die-cast toys. They’re biggest market is tractors and construction equipment, I think.
Greetings from the UK. Have only just found your channel. There are so many “model restoration” experts on you tube it’s hard to find the good ones. They should have a “trust pilot” type score where it’s easier to find the good ones like you.
I love the 1:18th restorations you have done.
Not surprised the pitting in the Metal caused by old cats wee (I don’t mean the cat was old, but it will be now). Urine is acidic so it’s like those models have had acid on them for 20years...
Lovin' this one! Had the same year car in Hugger Orange with white interior and that cool machine turned dash in the late 80s.😎
Looking forward to that Jeep build you mentioned. If you dont have wheels and accesories in your stash, check the 1/18 rc market.
Room for more activities! Love it! This one is going to be sweet!
If you have built the re-issued International Transtar 4300 Eagle in 1/25 scale;the kit was an AMT kit in the ERTL series. The ERTL division,of the the Learning Curve brands LLC;which owns Match Box,and Round 2 LLC,went bank rupt in the late 2000's early 2010's.Every once in a while,Round 2 LLC will clean up the vintage molds, and reproduce and re-issue plastic model kits;that haven't been seen in decades.
In fact, there have been several ERTL kits that have been re-issued within the last 3 years because Round 2 LLC bought, and aquired;the ERTL brand in 2015.The molds and dimensions are not as precise;as the kits coming out these days;but that's what makes building them so fun!.Plus if they were to up date the molds;using today's technology, the kits would cost twice as much as the re-issued; vintage mold kits.I like the big rig kits that AMT and MPC have been coming out with in the last 10 years;but they would be expensive using today's molding technology.
So instead of paying $44.00 for a 1/25 scale big rig kit from AMT,AMT/ERTL,or MPC,you would be paying between $60.00 and $80.00 for the same kit;molded with the precise tooling technology,we have today.ERTL was once an independent company brand;before filing for chapter 9 and chapter 11 bank ruptcy, back in 2011.ERTL is now a sub division/subsidiary of Round 2 LLC.
Can’t wait to see what she looks like!
Super excited to see Part 2!
I really like the 1:18 scale cars you've done,
it was hilarious as soon as you said " cat pee" you noticed the hole in your glove.
Ahh yes, the benefits of shooting my audio live instead of doing voice overs like some of the other guys heheh
That is one of the reasons I like DR over the other guys. The commentary is great!
I'm really feeling this one. Can't wait for part #2.
Great video, love watching the 1:18s being done...... Well done..,✌️
Great video, you gave some great info on bondo, and liquid masking. Thank you
That body needed much work! But well worth the effort man... Glad you went with white, I have the same car with the blue stripe, but I wonder what a deep red stripe would look like?
Super Duty 455 trans arms were only offered in 1973 1974. Almost got one new. Insurance was 2,400.00 per year. Car new was 4,200.00 loaded.
You forget they are metal until you hear the clank.
So the jeep sounds like a good candidate for a custom build
It's looking good. Say HI to Jimmy for me
Great work looking forward to pt 2 Brian Thailand
Love the bubly
Just like a real one
Love it as always man! Cant wait for the final product!
You need yerself one of those small sandblast cabinets....I used to restore a lot of ERTL tractors and that was invaluable.....by the way glass, not sand
In the future I plan to get something set up like that. It takes me forever to strip the bigger cars chemically.
Nice job buddy looks great so far thanks for sharing bud 👍👍
I've not seen many 1:18's and this one is a good one! Glad to see it get new life.
Man I love these!
Man... That cat pee just goes down to the metal... I'm convinced that's what flows in the Xenomorphs veins. Cat pee.
Nice alien reference😂
White with a blue birdie on it will be real nice, had the opportunity bk in the day to buy a 79 camero with a similar body and color deco.
dam now they some blubs for jimmy
That car started off as a refugee from a cat litter box! 🙀💩Was very hairy inside! Austin cleaned it up nice. White is an awesome choice!!! Shows the details very nicely!👍🏻👍🏻
I know you said you didn't like the Bandit tribute scheme but like you this is my favorite body style trans am & I would've loved to see it in the bandit black with gold accents.
@@ae86hachi I'm aware of that but in my opinion this body style is much better & I'd love to see what the bandit car would've looked like if it was made just a couple years earlier.
That's looking SUPER EFFEN MINTY!!! Cant wait to see part 2
Chouette vidéo 👍
So glad your back really enjoy your videos
The paint remover looks like spicy garlic sauce from BWW. Now I want wings.
