Thanks, this is exactly what I wanted to see. I do wish you could setup custom modes as i use to switch my brightness late at night in my dark room but it looks like i would have to change the brightness setting every time not just a simple click on the joystick.
it wont let me enable ulmb2, i disabled g-sync and did the instructions. when it did work it switched of when going away from the game. now its not working at all any tips to fix this ?
I played on XL2546 since two years, I really love the DyAC+ and the huge brightness of this screen even with DyAc+ on. Yesterday I received my VG27AQN and played with it all the evening on Warzone 2 with arround 200 fps. It was crazy good BUT I think ULMB 2.0 make the screen not bright enough FOR ME. Today, I tried without ULMB 2.0 and my GOD with OD on normal AND HOW MY GOD IT S BEAUTIFUL AND BRIGHT !!!! Huge games with immersive sensations ! 1440 IPS is so beautiful !!! I did not realise any blur problems without ULMB 2.0 THIS SCREEN with top end PC is SOOO GOOOD, I AM GONNA PLAY WAY TOO MUCH AND LOSE MY JOB 🤣🤣🤣😘
Thats exactly how i felt using the monitor. I rather have the ulmb2 off with od on normal. I feel a difference between the normal mode and extreme mode for over drive settings. Preferring the normal mode. Do you get that as well?

I would only enable HDR mode in windows when viewing HDR content as explained here: tftcentral.co.uk/articles/heres-why-you-should-only-enable-hdr-mode-on-your-pc-when-you-are-viewing-hdr-content but if your game supports it, you could certainly enable HDR mode and try it, see which you prefer
My understanding... is that with the firmware update... the OD EXTEME mode is actually superior... as it has almost zero ghosting at any refresh rate... and has a slightly faster response time than normal!
Maybe not visible much at higher refresh rates but there’s def overshoot, and it’s visible at lower refresh rates easily. See our written review which covers this more
@@tftcentral hardware unboxed/monitors unboxed seems to have come up with different results from their testing... that being said... the difference in response times between normal and extreme is so small... that perhaps normal is just a smarter option.
It depends on your gaming type. If you are focused on HDR gaming, or want an ultra wide field of view, or have a system that would more comfortably manage 175Hz and allow you to push image detail, then the Samsung would be better. If you are playing more competitive games, are focused on the absolute best motion clarity, can support the much higher frame rates, and want top end features like ULMB and Reflex, then the Asus will be better
i have this monitor, and found 40% brightness to be good for gaming and 16% for when doing office work.. how did you get the Knits numbers? would be interested to know how many knits i have at 40% brightness. Thank you :D
I am trying to update firmware to get ulmb2 but i get error saying it cant switch to 60hz during firmware flash. and i cant switch the hz lower than 360 anywhere. please help.
From what i''ve heard ULMB 2 is actually prety bad on this monitor. The top of the screen is clear but the bottom half or so is very blurry, people saying stick to gsync. Can anyone chime in?
I don’t agree with that really. The bottom isn’t as clear, but the overall visual experience is still excellent and impressive for a blur reduction backlight. It’s a lot better than most screens blur reduction modes tbh

Yes still a very good screen. There’s actually very few 1440p 360Hz LCD screens still even now. With added Gsync module, reflex latency analyzer and ULMB2 it’s got all the NVIDIA bells and whistles too for gamers!

As you increase the pulse width setting it will help improve the motion clarity further, but it’s at the cost of brightness. So find a level that is comfortable for your room conditions 😀
Can I use it on console too cause I am about to build a high end pc but I also play ps5 sometimes with friends and idk if the 360 hz is not causing issues with ps5 120 hz i currently use a really old 120 hz monitor so I want to get rid of it and is this one for both Also if I order from Amazon does it come with a power adapter

Yes the screen will come with the relevant power cable you need for your region. And yes I’m pretty sure you could connect speakers to the audio output and use that instead of headphones

This screen will sometime turn black for me in the middle of the game for a few seconds then come back. Also sometimes the game will just start with black screen and stay there if on foreground, but if i alt tab and put a different application on foreground I can see the game fine in the background. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
additional note, if the game is minimized and monitor turns off as per power settings, then i turn it back on and go to the game, it'll show up as black screen more often than not Fresh win11 install, 10/31 clean install nvidia drivers with default settings, except for GSYNC enabled in windowed and fullscreen modes.

@omikurita that’s because it’s strobing the backlight on and off and it impacts brightness. Only options would be to turn brightness up higher, and set ULMB pulse width at 100. Only run that mode for gaming though, not for desktop/other uses
The pulse width setting does nothing for motion clarity at 360hz. 10% looks identical to 100% because the phase timing is way too early in the refresh cycle. It cuts the tail end off of the pulse but it's irrelevant because all of the crosstalk visible is coming from the previous frame. It literally does nothing at 360hz. At 240hz it does give a small improvement at the top of the screen because the strobe phase is better tuned(you can see improvement up to 70%), but at 360hz the improvement is nil. In fact the strobe phase is so bad the bottom of the display is showing the prior frame and only the very faint image of the current frame that's being shown across the rest of the display. If the pulse width setting reduced the flash duration from the start as well as the end then it would help a lot, but the start point remains fixed regardless of what you do. Even so, no matter what pulse width setting is used, it's too early even at full length to capture the current frame at the bottom of the screen whist the top of the display is perfectly clear. They need to delay the flash so that the bottom of the screen captures at least some of the current frame and the top of the screen has some crosstalk from the next frame and make the pulse width shorten the flash from both the start and end of the flash.

Depends on the use case. For pure, top end, competitive and esports gaming the AQN is better. Better VRR performance, ULMB 2 included, better motion clarity, Reflex Latency Analyzer included. But for HDR gaming and a super smooth experience even at a lower refresh rate (less system demand), the AQDM is better
this monitor has most disabled settings ever. i had 20 monitors. and this one is complete shit to change rgb brighness need to change gaming mode. set brightness than go back to rgb every time you open game on and off. have 10 click 50 times before setting monitor back to desktop mode

Very tough call and both excellent gaming screens. Asus would give you the option to play at 1440p as well as use the scaling mode if you wanted only 1080p. Also superior picture quality thanks to IPS panel. Both are very good, personally I’d go for the more versatile Asus model I think

It’s important to understand what ULMB2 is and what it offers. It doesn’t allow any higher refresh rate than the supported 360Hz or any overclock. It’s a blur reduction mode that can help give the visual appearance equivalent to a hypothetical 1440Hz display. The actual refresh rate, and therefore your frame rate support doesn’t change though. But if you’re mainly focused on competitive gaming then the PG27AQN is probably the better suited

I believe you’d have to enable it from the menu each time

Are you running in SDR or HDR mode? You need to have HDR disabled. Also maybe try disabling adaptive sync/VRR too

It’s still useful for reducing perceived motion blur at other refresh rates even down to 120Hz. The higher the refresh rate you set the better 😀

when the monitor is in standby an orange LED flashes, I have to manually turn off the monitor, is this normal?
Yes. There might be a setting in the OSD to disable the power led altogether but I can’t remember
