Tutorial for using the AGM-65E (Laser) and AGM-65F (IR) Maverick Air to Ground Missiles in the DCS: F/A-18C Hornet 0:00 - Intro 0:43 - AGM-65E Laser Maverick 3:25 - AGM-65F IR Maverick
Thanks for the tip! And equally if you tell a JTAC to fire a laser, there is no need to continue to fly towards the target as they will be lasing the target
It's certainly not easy. Yet another benefit of having a Weapon Systems Operator (WSOp) in the back seat, like in Tornado. More modern aircraft systems use Datalink where ISTAR assets can send a target point directly to the aircraft, and the pilot just needs to accept the target point and fire the weapon.
You don’t need to manually fire the laser, just press and hold weapon release and it will auto lase

It's a surprising amount of work to have to do, especially if you're in contested airspace and also have to contend with enemies shooting at you.

Been a minute since I used the Maverick much and this is a very good summary of both variants.
Thank you for the comment! Just starting out with CZcams, glad you enjoyed
quite some click arounds to get it to work. thanks for the explanation. checking for your other vids for the other weapons.
Mavericks are notoriously fiddly to get working. Glad to hear you managed to get them to work though!
great video!
great comment!
can you 'fire and forget' after you fire the MAV-F or do you have to keep tracking?
Yes, you can. And if the laser is from a JTAC then you can fire and forget the MAV-E too
Nice. Can you do a Hornet cold start?
Absolutely. With all the new systems, it'll be good to have an up to date cold start
