The point is that neither her Father Johnny Spencer nor her Grandmother Lady Foy ( who was besties with the Queen Mum) ever tried to stop the engagement that should never have happened...
However; Diana's 2 sisters Jane and Sarah did try to talk Diana out of it...They both knew this was never going to work Diana was not well balanced, terribly temper like her father and Brother...very manipulative and could sulk for days... They did their best, they knew these were not the traits a Bride for the heir to the throne would need..
Diana Like most Damaged People... was really good at hiding it...till they cant. Buy then, she was well and truly...Married.
Only Diana's Father could have stopped that engagement... He too knew she was not balanced enough to cope with the pressures involved. Alas, he was plotting and rubbing his hands together...thinking of the income he would be getting from visitors the world over. Money which he much needed...

I think they're referring to the fact that Diana was born into the aristocracy but she herself did not hold a title. The title of "Lady" is only honorary. Since she didn't have a title or peerage (Baron/Earl/Marquess/Duke) she was seen as commoner. Only father would be considered a nobleman because he held the title of Earl (Earl of Spencer). Though it was incredibly snubbish when you consider that she and her family were more English than anyone in the Royal family. Not to mention that the spouses of the other Royal siblings seem more "common" than Diana.

    Dear gentle CZcams viewers:
Pause the clip at 08:08, an important dress from HM The Queen's wardrobe archive is featured. This is the Norman Hartnell dress that The Queen wore to the premiere of "Lawrence of Arabia" in 1962. Subsequently, HM The Queen loaned this dress along with the her diamond fringe wedding tiara to Princess Beatrice of York for her nuptials. It was a stroke of marketing genius, for two reasons: austerity during the pandemic and the gesture cemented the love and respect for the York Princesses, in trying times. The Princess Anne wore the diamond fringe tiara at her nuptials in 1973. HRH Meaghan, The Duchess of Sussex's gown cost £110.000.⁰⁰ (to Megan Markle's credit, she bore this cost, entirely).
The upcycled gown, (for Princes Beatrice) of impeccable lineage was the perfect choice in a time of austerity.
I speak with a visceral feel that the 'something old' adage fit like a glove. Brava to HRH Princess Beatrice. HM The Queen wore a beautiful and very appropriate hat to Westminster Abbey on the Service of Thanksgiving celebrating her Silver Jubilee. It featured 25 silk bells - one for every year of her reign. If my memory serves me right, she wore if again as Queen of Canada, opening the Montréal Olympic Games in 1976.
The Royal family always uses the best designers for their wardrobes. Quality is long remembered after price is forgotten. Updates and upcycling are both welcome, and prudent.
Also, The Princess Royal has been known to upcycle, restyle and reuse clothing to stylish effect and a chorus of accolades. I have seen outerwear re-vamped from the 1970's to great effect.
    Wonderful to see.

A lot of ppl wanna put the decline of popularity on modern events such as Diana, Charles and Andrew but the reality is many royal families, especially European ones, have been dissolving for decades due to the growth and popularity of other forms of government. It's only a matter of time when one of the longest reigning royal families comes to an end and it will not be bc someone cheated on a spouse but bc that countries ppl no longer desire to have a royal family.

The odious comment about George VI's personality misses the point completely. The King was a well-loved monarch and remained a powerful symbol throughout the war. Perhaps this was due to his obvious shyness, and he was much admired because it was recognized that he performed his duties despite these difficulties. A point which it is impossible to exaggerate was that George and Queen Elizabeth stayed in London with their people, and did not escape to the safety of Canada.

Think people, before you wish something on another that would be very hard for the children. Have you got children? How would they fare to have their parents leave to carry out their work for 6 months. I’m sure the wives (or husbands) of the American military can tell you how that affects their children. I suppose it was needed when we thought we could get better from “ letting blood “ but why keep it now - respect for the Queen and monarch that came before but sovereignty is not given to the lucky few by birth or by conquest - sovereignty is Innate in every human being .
I think it is unfair now to make a king and queen- for ultimately it will slowly fail and wheeze due to evolutionary human psyche development.
Maybe use the money that supports the monarch to support the uk and her peoples ...for ultimate authority (whoever has it ) is only valid and real upon the consent of the vote of the people - that is where authorship ( authority) comes from direct ! Because there are more of us then them, so by numbers they need our consent. And the best way we have found - is the vote!
