I have always dreamt of living with a view of the mountains and now I am making my dream come true. Well, one of them, because there is always room for more dreams, right! MY STORY
Rewind, July 2018, inspired by a friend, I had the ‘crazy’ idea that I would step out of life’s conditioning to enable me to live my life to its fullest. I made the bold decision to leave my job, buy a campervan, rent out my house and go travel the world.
After living in my van for three years, travelling to Scotland, Scandanavia and Europe and living in Portugal through Covid I decided to make a new life in Portugal. I am now renovating a previously abandoned village house on the west coast of Central Portugal to live a more sustainable life.

Yes apparently so. I think I will grow flowers in it as it’s under the tree and was full of leaves 😀

Indeed I will. I will employ an architect to draw up the plans for me. The back of the house overlooks the garden so I don’t foresee there being a problem.

Annie, I can make the old Adega at the back of the house a temporary place to live with a sofa bed, camping stove etc. I still have my campervan until the end of December too when I will return to the U.K. to sell it. I will probably stay in the U.K. for January. I haven’t seen my friends and family for nearly a year 🙏💕
@@dreamlifeportugal Sounds like happy days ahead, fingers crossed everything works out for you. About to put my home on the market too as we need something with no stairs due to hubby's health problems. Exciting & frightening at the same time isn't it.

Where is the cat ?
Boa localização e boa paisagem. Casa e muros de pedra, tudo restaurado, muito bonito. O terreno não é grande, mas mais do que suficiente para as suas necessidades e vai dar bastante trabalho mante-lo limpo e produtivo. Estou de acordo consigo, aquele telheiro deve ser derrubado porque a impede usufruir da bela paisagem. Engraçado terem colocado sobre o muro aquela espécie de vaso de predra, que era e é usada para colocar os alimentos dos porcos, chamada de pia de porco. Na minha casa também tenho duas, que furei para sair a água, enchi de terra tenho flores.

If You don't organize ( and pay for) it, house renovation, garden, field, trees, harvesting, producing, water issues,... without handcrofted and permanence or saisonly help, You may be overpowered...or You will loose Yourself to the "nice view"...😎
I have builders who will do a lot of the interior work for me. But I am not afraid of hard work and am keen to learn new skills. The outside I can manage. Just one small step at a time. I’m not in a hurry 🙏💕

Lots of villages in Portugal seem abandonned. The people stay inside in the heat of the day. I actually did see a lady walking her dog. But I love this tranquil way. It's perfectly safe. Portugal is one of the safest countries in the world.

The new house looks lovely. The stone work is beautiful. Is the house live in ready? The land is beautiful. Lovely views. Not too big. It would be enough to meet your food growing needs. You have on site parking. You will probably need a gate. Hopefully things will be uncomplicated.🙂👍👍🇨🇦
The inside of the house has been completely gutted. Needs everything. However, there is one room, the old Adega that I will be able to live in whilst the work is ongoing. It’s going to be interesting that’s for sure
Is your house connected/share a wall with another persons house? If so, how does the sound travel between homes?
Yes it is connected but no-one lives there. I don’t think sound would be an issue with the thickness of these stone walls 😀

Susie, hi.your WATER?? Where is that coming from, muni? Stunning stonework. And area. How far to Drs, and shops?
Water is connected to mains but I also have a bore hole which I will use to water the land. There are some small local shops and a medical centre in Monsanto has well as a post office and official government offices. The bigger supermarkets are an hour away so I will go there once every two weeks probably 🙏💕
@@dreamlifeportugal thats a relief. I wonder which lake is used for muni to pump water from. Love those vines and to learn the variety, to care for them and plant more types. The trend is to have a 5 variety mix incl a sweet, Hanepoot. A Catawba is a del rose scented table grape . Nice to talk to the local older man who has vines, for advice. Its a science and an interest. Your hens will love keeping your vines free of snails and reward themselves with some grapes! Nice spot for hen house under fig tree. Entrance courtyard perfect for Terracotta pot decor and ofcourse easy to build covered patios with pillars, ibr sheeting, and gutters to tank your water. I'm soo envious!! 💐☺️🌻💛

Ha ha. I think the name can stay the same as there are many fruit trees and a small vinyard. Casa das Frutas Part 2. Casa das pedras (House of stones) maybe more appropriate 😂 Did you know Monsanto features in the new House of Dragons series?
Why does the grass always looks burned in Portugal? It doesn't matter which channel I watch in there from Portugal, the grass always looks burned and dried? I always wonder that every time I watch someone from Portugal just curious?
Just very dry! After rain, things become green again 😊

The summers here are very dry, no rain at all in most places for months. However, once the rain arrives in the winter everything goes green again until the summer returns normally around May time. We had some rain here last week and the grass has already started to grow again 😀
Can you get water on the field?
Yes, I have a bore hole and will make an irrigation system 😀
