Much respect to you. You have to be under constant stress as a neurosurgeon. How do you handle stress? Please eat healthier. While the burger looked good, that will clog your arteries. How do you relax? What are your hobbies? Are you glad you became a neurosurgeon? I enjoy your videos and your humble nature.

You don't have to do internships in anything but neurosurgery, because it is counterproductive, since you will only learn ill-fitting surgical techniques and movement in other specialties.
At least in my country; I know the US does things differently.
      Only neuroradiology internship makes sense.

Just googled quickly and you're wrong, actually.
Just google neurosurgery residency intern year.
Check the programs and tell me again there is no intern year in the US and no other surgical subspecialties.

I really resonated with what you talked about in terms of mental health. I was in hospital from 2nd January-16th March 2020 and since discharge almost all my care was cancelled. I didn't have access to my normal support networks and coping strategies and its been pretty tough. And I have a lot more support and privileges than I know a lot of other people get. "Thank you for your service" should be more commonly said to doctors and medical staff than soldiers. It is harder to save a life than take one. They do, after all, risk their life and health day in and day out, usually under conditions that should not be legal... Eg 24 hour shifts. I have nothing against the military, got family in the service. But I think the saying should apply to doctors and medical people too. They're the backbone of the UK, and incredibly humble, they deserve more.

S K This isn’t doctor-specific accommodation. This is an emergency situation so they’ve literally had to repurpose the nearby university’s student accommodation (which is of course not going to be fancy) just so the doctors don’t end up being delayed commuting to the hospital due to the reduced transport. Under normal circumstances, a doctor wouldn’t need to sleep next to the hospital for multiple days before a night shift. Sure, it would be nice for 5* hotels to be booked for the doctors, but the NHS doesn’t exactly have that much money to rent rooms for the tens of thousands of staff members across the country that would need overnight accommodation

Amazing content. I’m a third year MBBS student from India and I watch your videos to see how it is like to be a Neurosurgeon. You’re helping so many people like me and thank you so much
for that. I’ve always had this doubt, is having neck pain a big issue for a Neurosurgeon or any kind of surgeon. Do people quit surgical training because of neck pain. Should people who have propensity for neck pain or back pain never consider surgery? I’ve heard a surgeon, one of my seniors, say that you can’t do anything about the pain, you’ll have to get used to it. Your thoughts ?

They must have a tumor affecting their motor function... and hit the thumbs-down button by mistake. It’s the only logical explanation.

@@Brainbook Hey :) just about types of brain tumors , maybe more common ones? How you deal with them? Thoughts on them? Treatments such as gamma knife ect . My dad has a grade 4 glioblastoma ( not to burden you with that info of course and yes, I'm fully aware it's terminal.)
and I'd just love to know your thoughts on everything really 😅( when you have time of course) :)

If one starts medical school at 26 by which age will s/he'll be a full fledged neurosurgeon?

Depending on where u r ,in my country medical school is 6 years followed by a 6 to seven year residency program which would mean u would be a neurosurgeon at 39-40
However if you in a country like the US and you need a Bachelors of Science degree (i think ) it would be 4 years as a premed unless u already have the degree and go into medical school at 26 and spend 4 years in medical school ,then 6 to seven years in residency you would be 37 years old otherwise without your premed degree you would be in your early 40s since u would be having to do your premed
But just do your research based onthe country you in and correct me if I'm wrong have a good day
