    I cannot get over how confident and put together you are as a new mom and especially a mom of twins! I see a lot of frazzled stressed out neurotic moms so I applaud your parenting style. You seem to be a fantastic mom J & V are so lucky! Love your videos Kendra!

      Congratulations! I miss when mine were babies! I've got a 6 year old girl & an 8 yr old boy! There is nothing like when they are little, but it's great watching them grow up. My daughter wants to "read" everything. It's fascinating how fast kids learn so fast. One day they scribbled, next they are reading! :)

    Just a small tip to anyone: if your baby is sleeping in the same room as you and waking up frequently throughout the night, try moving her/him to a different room. Babies have heightened senses when they're newborns and can smell your milk. Thus, they will wake up often for feeding.

    • @kendraatkins

      Ya that's why I have to be careful when I check on them! They totally wake up sometimes.

    I love how relaxed your parenting style is! I'm very similar. I had so many eyebrows raised at me because I didn't jump the moment my baby cried. We also set nap and sleep routines early on and we have reaped the benefits of a great sleeper!!! Your a rock start! I'm so impressed with how easy you have made having twins look!! Love your videos 😊

      Bree Moen seriously so important to let self soothe! There's another comment on here that roasted Kendra for letting them cry. Letting my daughter cry was one of the best things we ever did. She's three now and sleeps in a twin bed in her own room and never wakes up.

    • @Bela-ur4pe
      @Bela-ur4pe Před 7 lety

      I have given myself a really hard time at first because I never ever let my baby boy cry and he could not self soothe for the first months. I had to rock him to sleep for hours a day. After that I was so exhausted that I decided it has to end. I introduced a strict routine, let him cry a little and now he sleeps through the night and is a good sleeper during the day. I hope that women will not be stigmatized for not jumping at each cry of their children!

    Happiest Baby on the Block helped me so much too in the the beginning. I totally agree with the swaddle thing. We moved our daughters to their rooms (3 girls - not twins or anything) within a few weeks too. We all slept so much better! The sleep topic is really tricky, but once you get it under control, life is so much better! After my babies started breaking out of swaddles and getting older, we used sleep sacks with/without arms. Also, we have a small fan in the corner of all of our rooms for white noise.

    Kendra, I love the show shark tank and you swaddled issue made me comment. there is a product seasons back called a zippety zip, I think, that is a onsie swaddled for newborn through toddler age. it has covers for their hands and feet to feel like they're in the womb. I wanna get one when I have kids. I hope this helps with that! I know swaddling is important for good sleep. love you and your family..especially when your hubby vlogs..he's hilarious. .PS he reminds me of Chris Pratt

    You will be so happy you developed this sleep schedule when they are toddlers! I see so many of my friends who rocked their kids to sleep, etc, having so many issues trying to get their toddlers to sleep in their own beds and stay in their own rooms. We were strict from the get go and it was actually my husband that came up with a sleep schedule at worked for us. Now, at three years old, she hops right in her bed, we cover her, kiss her good night and leave the room. She never gets out of bed. She never wakes up. 👍

    • @MrEuroAccent
      @MrEuroAccent Před 7 lety

      Kiki Mincks Roten There's nothing wrong with rocking a baby to sleep. I never let my daughter cry it out or forced a sleep schedule and now she sleeps through the night in her own bed at 2. Research studies have found that babies who are are met with quick and compassionate responses to their cries end up being more independent and secure later on. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3422632/ www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3145034/

      @kikimincksroten4828 Před 7 lety

      That's great that it worked for you, but some people find to let them cry for a little bit helps in the long run. By no means am I saying I let my daughter cry for hours or anything. I never let her cry longer than 10 minutes before scooping her up. Every baby is different and every mom and dad find their own schedule that works best.

    Although there is nothing wrong with feeding to sleep if it works for you. What works for one child and family wont work for another. I personally don't let my kids self sooth or cry to sleep but if it works for you. I breastfed and held my first to sleep for almost a year and he is 3 years now and sleeps on his mattress in our room. My second is 18 months and Im doing the same bed sharing, breastfeeding to sleep although I only held her while she slept until about 7 months, now I feed her to sleep and then can transfer her to my bed. Good job motherhood can be hard but very rewarding and we are all different

      @destiny13006 Před 7 lety +1

      creek1903 there are a few reasons burping is important, mainly because babies can get very gassy which makes them cry. You can avoid a lot of painful gas by getting them to burp soon after eating.

I feel bad when he cries , I wish I could be laid back like you. it is overwhelming sometimes , I can't imagine having twins. I do find that when I swaddle him he sleeps longer. Any tips on how to produce more breast milk? Thanks for sharing.

    • @intentionallymade
      @intentionallymade Před 7 lety

      Emili Salg just remember he's only four weeks out of the womb. 4 weeks to 12 weeks is a big difference in babies. As soon as he hits that age you will most likely see a difference and getting him to self soothe will be a little easier.... I remember wanting the same thing with my first son and calling my gf who had experience in this already and she reminded me of this very thing. She said try and if it doesn't work try again in a few weeks. By four months I was able to transfer him to his crib and it was so easy and a schedule was born. Hang in there and enjoy your baby boy. A schedule will come. Each baby is different and a lot of times they make their own. I would write down when he gets tired and naps then go from there. Everything is typically based around nap times :) there are so many sites that have mock schedules you can get ideas from. Wholesomebaby.com is what I used the most. Also babies can cluster feed to have gas a lot in the beginning so just take one day at a time. Getting advice and tips from others is helpful but remember each experience can be a tad different based off your baby. I think parenthood in the beginning is all about trouble shooting and learning your baby. Good luck and congrats!
