    Excellent video and a good philosophy for many aspects of life. Grinded my gears when you used parsec as a unit of time, thank you :D

    Can I run 100m in 8.50s? Okay, I guess I'll run it at 9.5s because of my limited mind.
    I guess setting impossible goals is good too!
    Yeah, sure, I'll go pro in cycling! I think many almost pro people have this limiting belief that they are too 'old' to go pro, when they are winning races that will get attraction... oh gosh... That's limiting.
    Plus it's the discipline and mind too! Many people wont even stand a mental challenge of having a discipline 100% by an X amout of time. Not everyone have a bullet proof mindset. I think that's a BIG factor in this too.

    Focus on the process, forget about the time. vs. It's all about performance.
    They are two ends of a spectrum. At one end, you get carried away doing weight training that doesn't actually make you get faster. At the other, you set arbitrary goals and do arbitrary things to the extent that performance is just meaningless.

    How do you recover from severe overtraining while continuing to train? (cant really not practice without quitting the team)

    • @remcovanwoerkom9546
      @remcovanwoerkom9546 Před 7 lety +1

      overtraining usually shows itself in injuries, fix those injuries. this can be done by, for one telling your coach and probably seeing a physiotherapist. also make it very clear to your trainer that his sessions are too much since thats likely whats causing the problem.

    • @spajkeds
      @spajkeds Před 4 lety

      Proper nutrition, foam rolling and stretching after training, proper cooldowns and getting 8+ hours of sleep at night cured all my injuries. Its the simple stuff that matters.

    how big a role do calves play in sprinting?

    • @luke.d5887

      lucas mekonen essop respond to this question plz⬆⬆⬆

    • @SkankHunt-ox8ot
      @SkankHunt-ox8ot Před 7 lety +3

      lucas mekonen not a huge factor. I wouldn't do any workouts focusing on your calves directly. however elite sprinters tend to have their calves sit higher up on the leg. also big calves will just slow u down

    • @remcovanwoerkom9546
      @remcovanwoerkom9546 Před 7 lety +4

      the impact of your calves is huge on your sprint time. just dont train them like bodybuilders would, just focus on plyometrics for the calves becuase during a print the speed of the contraction of the calf is the timiting factor.

    • @josefharasek3502
      @josefharasek3502 Před 7 lety

      huge

    • @KX5Kat
      @KX5Kat Před 6 lety +2

      They obviously play a role, but don't take that to assume that bigger, more muscular, calves equals more speed.
      As Essop said, the best training for sprinting is sprinting! There's no need to do calf raises and all that jive. Just sprint. Your calves, biomechanics and body will begin to adapt to perform the task you're doing (sprinting) more efficiently (faster).

    Can I solve hamstring pain after every race I have

    • @remcovanwoerkom9546
      @remcovanwoerkom9546 Před 7 lety +1

      depends on what type of pain it is, if the pain os from an injury say a tear or if you pulled it then yes. the awnser usually lies in making the muscle longer however dont just focus on stretching, make sure you train your hamstrings in a large rom in the weights room as well. if that does not solve your problem, seek help from physiotherapist or a trainer that knows a lot about biomechanics because it might be a posture problem, or maybe a slight malfunction in your tchnique that's causing hte pain.

  • @KahleialM

    What is over training?

    • @zoidfreakvoidwalker1687
      @zoidfreakvoidwalker1687 Před 7 lety +4

      Over-training is when you train more than you are currently able to do. As well as not resting and/or eating properly relatively to the amount of training that you do, relativity to how much you can perform.
      When it comes to training, you need: 1. To train. 2. Rest/sleep. 3. Proper nutrition.
      As a rule of thumb, you will risk injury in case of too much training: Going over your limit and not resting.
      And you will experience little to no progress if rest, training and proper nutrition are neglected.
      Your muscles for example only grow during rest times.

    How comes I run 6.99 in 60m but for 100m I'm running 11.8 what's going on from 60-100 as a feel I go slow as everyone passes me

    • @redeissonz.1996
      @redeissonz.1996 Před 7 lety

      Swift B you must be lying 6.99 is incredibly fast you should run at least a low 11 with that time as you must have decent form if you ran that time

    • @goncalooliveira3487
      @goncalooliveira3487 Před 7 lety

      Swift B Go harder and try maintaining your top speed. If you run that fast in the 60s you should be able to run faster in the 100s just by going harder and not "giving up" at the end :P
