This is awesome! Shelly Anne Frazier Price was just talking about "fear". It's a huge distraction.

Essop, love your vignettes on sprinting and training. This one is particularly interesting to me. In 2012 I ran the Masters Indoor Nationals in the M60 age group, 60 and 200. It was my first track meet in 43 years. I was fine until I got down in the blocks. I was shaking like a leaf. I could barely hold my body weight up with my arms. Horrible starts. I’ve since learned to relax and let my mind go blank. Much better starts at this years Regionals. Thx again for all your work and insights.

yeah, I'm skeert!! I so much want to be able to use starting blocks - I just bought a set and haven't used them yet. No coach, no track except on weekends - So glad I found this video!! It's so much better than just showing how to set them and position yourself (I actually have used blocks before - 47 years ago!!!)

Sir, you're a genius. I'm really happy i found your channel (more than a year ago i think).
I do parkour, so i need to convert this huge amount of knowledge into my field, but i've seen amazing improvements in my running, jumping and general movement from your ideas.
    Keep it up! ;)

I always get my best 40 yard dash times starting from an upright position.

Thank you Essop! It's nice to see you again. You've been missed!
On point as always, entertaining with great content.
It's quite interesting to watch this video because I've noticed last week during my blocks session that I tend to push upward and not forward on the first step.
And as I questioned myself I raised the possibility of the fear of falling. (Which means losing control and going back into a secure position by pushing upward).
What I retain from this video is:
"Don't fight the fear of falling - embrace it. Your nervous system will send the stimuli to correct yourself." (Kinda survival).
    You're brilliant!!! Take care

Essop, I told you once and I'll tell you again , you ever need any graphic design. I'm your man. And don't worry about money, you've given me and those I share you knowledge with far more than I could repay with a couple illustrations.

That is for this video. I suffer from everythingphobia. Was the same when I was a weightlifter and now I'm a sprinter. It puts the brakes on me because I become too tense. In training I do well, but when I'm put on the spot... different matter. I really need to find some techniques to relax.

Class my couzin. U hit it right on the head or confuse the shit out of me. I'm sacking my coach.... Or kissin his ass. U don't bring clarity necessarly but a question and that's important, nothing is sacrosanct.

I find it really interesting that you are advocating for a more horizontal starting position, most coaches advocate for an acceleration angle of 45 degrees but it seems you are going for a more steep angle of attack against the ground. My question is, what is the approximate angle you think an athlete would need to aim for, so that the righting reflex can begin to take over?

Bro, do u inject urself periodically with B1-B6-B12 injections? Apparently this is common knowledge with ''elite'' athletes... i did not know about this and got house bound, almost bed bound, semi-vegetable... I cant lift a empty cup without losing my breath or having pain in my heart!!!
Apparently these B vitamins helps your nervous system to not break down because of the high training volume, also helps with energy production, metabolism and heart health...
Kids be careful, do the sport RIGHT, I wish I knew that i must inject B-vitamins to not DIE. I was working out 3- 5 hours(plyos, throws, jumps, sprints, weights) a day, 6 days/week..
And dont over train... 3- 4 workouts per week is more than enough!!!!!!!! If I ever recover I will workout 3- 4 times per week... body needs recovery! Im 29... AND EAT ENOUGH CALORIES FOR FUCKS SAKE(im sure you think you eat enough, well.... think thrice!)
