    Finally an Essop video. Btw Can you do a video about the Toe drag and/or Top speed and the exercises and techniques to train each of them respectively.

    Loving the content and I'm smashing through most of your vids as I've only just discovered you. If possible could you do a video on programme periodisation for general athletes, I'd like to see your take on how you'd break down a microcycle and balance strength/ power sessions with agility speed work without frying the CNS. Cheers

    holy shit one of the most complete video on sprinting ive ever watched but so poorly produced, but in a cute kinda way.
    guys knows his shit, subscribed. the only part i question is that if u have a wind with you, you get more vertical force? dont the wind blow horizontally? shouldnt it be more horizontal force?

    Dear essop
    Could you please make a video about speedladders? I don't no if it helps with sprinting but it makes your feet move faster and more agile. But you always say the force you produce and the time you take to produce that force are the most important factors (what makes sense if you think about it). Maybe that agility can help?
    You always make very fun and educational videos. I love that type of videos. I have been subscribed to you since you had 500 subs. Keep it going!
    Sorry for my bad english

      Dear essop
      I also have another question for you:
      If cardio helps you recover faster, you can workout more often, Wich results in more improvement over a longer time.
      But does cardio also accelerate the supercompensation proces or will you eventually burn out because the nervous system can't keep up with the training.
      Sorry for my bad english

    You said the lever should be shorter by flexibility in the quads so just focus on frontside mechanics and not trying to actively tuck the hamstring to but. Flexibility in thr quads naturally allow it to tuck perfectly

  • @ruanoosthuizen6084
    @ruanoosthuizen6084 Před 5 lety

    Sprinting is all about vertical forces. The only horizontal force you uave to deal with is air resistance. Which is very low, ESPECIALLY compared to the vertical force called gravity. Vertical force application (RFD and peak) is what matters most. Not horizontal.

    Hey legend, i have been struggling with chronic tibial shin stressfor some time now, im currently working on strength and biomachaic imbalances. Whilst spending time off the track, would you suggest deep water running to imitate low weight baring and low impact running to keep aerobically fit?
    If not, what else would you suggest?

    I have a question, in one of your past videos you talked about weight to strength ratio, in which you used Alyson Felix as an example, where by you stated she could dead-lift 300lbs while only weighing 123 lbs not putting on muscle, in which her ratio was 1: 2.4; if a sprinter lifts weight and increases their weight to strength ratio in which they can 2 or 3 times more than their own body weight but still put on great amounts of muscle while maintaining a higher weight to strength ratio, will they perform better and get faster?

  • @theblasianvibration2705

    Hello Essop I’m a sprinter from the United States. My track season this year was cut short due to a hamstring strain during a 100 meter dash around the 70m mark at top speed. I have noticed that I have an anterior pelvic tilt. Could this be a cause for the injury as I have heard that this could be a cause for my tight hamstrings?
    My track teams one size fits all weights regimen that I was following consisted of mostly squats and quad dominant exercises. Could this again be a cause for my anterior pelvic tilt due to muscular imbalance between my hamstrings and quads? And if it is a cause for my imbalance and injury how should I restore balance to my lower body?
    Your videos have been very helpful as they preach the accurate way to improve as a sprinter! Thx!

    • @gold1736
      @gold1736 Před 4 lety

      Hamstring injuries are also caused by weak glutes. You having an anterior pelvic tilt is proof of glute weakness, search up athlean x "Hamstring injury, your ass is to blame" because when the hammies are overly dominant for weak glutes they get overworked and evetually injured.

      @@feveredmushroomHD Okay, hamstring injuries just like most injuries are caused from overcompensation of another muscle not doing it's role, so in this case for the hamstrings it's more than likely the glutes slacking on hip extension due to either poor activation or weak glute strength. When the glutes are weak the hamstrings overcompensate thus making it easy to get injured. Watch this video, and ask me if you want additional insight. czcams.com/video/tdFtlHyUSXo/video.html&t

    It's been way too long, I was not ready for the spectrum beat. So a question to all this, how about John Ross' 40 yard record in the NFL combine? Granted, it's a very short distance, but one would expect the optimal form to be similar czcams.com/video/04qabU6DsZI/video.html

      Checking his form, he seems to be fulfilling the requirements. He has a great lean and full extension. The difference is that he doesn't have to transition to top speed because he is not reaching top speed over a 40 year dash so no need for MAGA! :-)
