    • @batearedfoxx
      @batearedfoxx Před 4 lety +42

@@teresa4645 well that depends. For example if the dirt is mixed with water, the oil on your hair will reject the dirty water. Basic chemistry. Now I don't know every kind of dirt people come across but if it's just basic dust, it'll come right off with warm water. Believe me. I've been doing nopoo for 3 years and my hair is the prettiest it has ever been.

@@teresa4645 ... Good question ! Body oils are not grease. Everyday heavy oils, vegtable or petrol based are but a few of the many. Nature has all kinds of oils with all kinds of properties, such as the odd sounding "drying oil". Sebum is not only an oil that lubricates but also protects the hair folicule. By combing it through and coating the shaft it then oxidises and semi soloidifies to protect the hair. (of course, i'm talking about a natural balanced healthy scalp.) This is why you'll read in history the women with the most beautiful hair comb their locks a hundred times. It's cleaning and conditioning all at once...and they didn't have shampoo back then.

@JessikaEmerald i wash it with warm water. I don't use any styling products. If I want my curls to be better I just scrunch it with water. I wash my hair like 2 times a week. I also only detangle it wet but that's just because I have curly hair. And thank you ♥️

When the water runs over it in the shower it needs to been massaged and scratched (with finger nails) to get off the dead skin cells. If not they goop together with the natural hair oil, build up, and cause an odor odor.

I only wash my hair with water now and used to have an extremely greasy scalp. I find when showering, its best to section the hair and use the shower nozzle to spray warm water directly on all the areas of the scalp and to use your hands to spread the grease to the tips of the hair. If I wake up with a greasy head and wash my hair this way, literally all of the grease goes away and it doesn't smell at all. It takes a bit longer to rinse through every section but its so worth it.

Try mustard powder for growing your hair. It’s a 100 y.o method that was used by my grandma and probably by her grandma too. Dilute a dry mustard powder with a little water to create a paste. Put it in your roots and wait. Very soon you will feel a warmth and then intense warmth:) Try to wait as long as it’s bearable. Then rinse it with cool water and apple cider vinegar diluted in water. By the way it’s a super method for greasy hair because mustard powder has been used for years to clean greasy pans and pots so it’s super powerful against grease. The only downside it’s can dry out your hair so use only on your roots. But it’s amazing for stimulating your hair to grow.

    I started it today.
    Thursday, 16 April 2020.
Hopefully, this will be the last time I use shampoo. 🤞🏼
    *Latest edit July 28*
    *About me :*
I am an asian and people says that my hair is thick. But I've seen others with *real thick* hair and my hair is far from it. Let's say it's a decent amount 😅. My hair falls down to my waist. Some parts of me thought that maybe this length would not be a good time, but we need to start somewhere, right? If I keep on waiting until I cut off my hair, I'll just keep on procastinating.
    • *Edit April 20 :*
I did my first water only wash on April 18 because I'm trying to follow my usual schedule which is a wash every 2 days. And then I'm planning to move on to wash once every 3 days after 2 week or so. The first water wash went well and somehow my scalp felt cold. I usually get very warm and sweating whenever I took a shower, but instead I felt cool and wasn't sweating at all!
I took the second water only wash today April 20 and the same thing happen. I like it so far. No sign of over grease so far 😄
    • *Edit April 30 :*
It's been two weeks already! Had my water only wash today. Two days ago I started noticing the build up in my comb. It was like a wax and its grey. I remember someone talking about that on water wash only videos. So it was expected. I also read and watched that wooden brush can help to spread the natural oil, so I ordered wooden brush yesterday. Hopefully I'll have it tomorrow. 😊
    • *Edit May 11 :*
I washed my hair with baking soda and water yesterday. It reduced a lot of the grease. But I read that using baking soda for a long period of time might harm the scalp because the difference in the pH level. So I'm planning to wash my hair with baking soda and water maybe once in 3 weeks or once in a month.
    • *Edit June 3 :*
I almost washed my hair with shampoo because of a certain condition. But thankfully I decided not to.
I finally able to wash my hair after 1 week now! I washed my hair on May 30 after washing it in June 22 and it wasn't oily at all! I just thought not to push it further and instead try to expand the days in between washes slowly. It's been 4 days already since the last wash and my hair feels great and not oily. 😊
    • *Edit July 28:*
It's been a while, huh? Maybe because I just got used to the routine by now. So far I have only wash my hair with water once a week and water plus baking soda solution twice so far. I'm planning to do it every one month. Earlier this month I was able to not wash my hair for 15 days! And it felt normal. No excess amount of oil or and discomfort. I just decided to wash it because I might eventually forget to do it lol 😅. My hair has been growing normally. I usually brush my hair with wood brush once every two days or so. And I wash my hair once a week. So far, this schedule works great for me. When I just got started, my hair would be damp even on the 3rd day. Now, my hair dries up very quick; maybe not more than 3 hours. But if it's raining, it might takes up to a day. I'm currently trying to get a natural shampoo bar for my hair. I feel like my hair is ready for it. 😊

I learned this in high school biology. My teacher got so many faces when he was like « people just shower to smell good, not because they actually need to » since that day which was my FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL in California.. in 2014, and since then I feel like I progressively cut out the use of shampoos, but then conditioner was hard to let go because it was the main product that made. My hair feel not as thick.. But it does seem more natural just using water. I completely agree with the dirty claims, my sister was going so in on how I was behaving dirty, and I’m gross, and I was just like 😭 how do you even explain something that doesn’t need to be wash. I love this video tbh I am so glad I randomly stumbled onto it lol . I never thought people would actually do this ❤️🤟🏻 I feel like you and me are so alike with hair 😭😭😭😭 wish i would have seen this earlier in life. Except for the growth my hair grows like crazy 🙃

No people do not shower just to smell good. You should shower for sanitary purposes and products such as soap help clean areas. If this wasn't the case medical professionals wouldn't even bother washing their hands which is basically the same thing as showering but for your whole body. Your skin collects alot due your oils and dried up dead cells, so your biology teacher is wrong in that sense. If it makes you feel better I had a biology teacher say a cow has four stomachs and... They do not. Biology teachers are very generic and only have bits of info, I had a science teacher incorrectly tell the class that fans do not change the temperature which was false, just food for thought.

I am 68 ( I haven't washed my hair in 4 yrs)and put nothing on my hair but the occasional Cetaphyl body wash...like once a month or if I am pretty dirty from gardening. It is not greasy as it was ail the years I washed it with shampoo. I do brush in all directions two or three times a day. It is very shiny and smooth and I have few split ends and no dandruff. My hair is fine and therefore when I did wash often it was really greasy very fast. In older days ( like MY grandmother) women kept their combings in a little china box with a hole in the middle to make a 'rat' that provided the poof for Gibson girl dos or french roles etc. My hair has always grown 'like a dogs" in that I would get a crew cut of new hair under the older hair and as the new stuff got longer, the old stuff fell out. this happens less noticeably as I have gotten older, but I never have thiner or thicker hair. I do not have curls or waves from this as many have said. It is still straight as a poker. I HAVE NOT GOTTEN COMMENTS OF IT SMELLING BAD ( AND BELIEVE ME, MY KIDS ARE BLUNT AND WOULD SAY SO) I only get comments about how shiny it is and soft. this is not for every one, but it works for me.

I used those for years and when I switched after a doctor recommendation, I noticed a big difference in both hair and nails in about a month's time. I use Pure encapsulations O.N.E. multivitamin brand, you can order on amazon. 2. Use Grow Gorgeous Hair Density Serum Intense also available on amazon. They aren't cheap but much better for you than artificial stuff and you will notice a difference. I usually start out using 20 drops a day (recommended amount on box) daily, then reduce to 10 drops a day for maintenance.

You’ve made a well-articulated presentation of your no-poo experience. You have lustrous, photogenic hair, and I suggest you worry about something else. As a black woman with Dry, kinky curls and oily dandruff, no poo has kept my scalp clear and my hair happy and manageable for almost 15 years. I use vinegar differently: I take a half-empty bottle of silicone-free conditioner and fill it with vinegar. I shake it up and this 50-50 mixture is what I massage into my scalp and comb through my hair each morning instead of shampoo. I rinse it well, then condition and go.
I’ve had issues with anxiety affecting my hair. What worked is exercise. Even just walking every day. Anxiety is a species of fear, and that’s just your fight or flight impulse Running riot. The only thing for it is physical activity. Any sort of exertion burns up that fuel.
Lastly, have you ever tried Viviscal? I’ve always wondered…

Washing it onve a week, I use it once scrubbing it in like a shampoo, then rinse it out, then put more on my hair again & leave it in whilst I shower, like a conditioner. I don't use any other hair products at all, just a cotton tea-shirt to dry it, then shake me head & let it air dry & that's it. Gives me lovely wavey curls. Sometimes if my ends get dry, I'll brush it with a boar bristle brush before I go to bed. And I use a satin pillow case to stop my hair getting roughed up & broken.

I have scalp eczema and most shampoos trigger it because of the amount of oils in it and fragrances, which is why I'm thinking of no-poo, however it still seems like a foreign idea to me and I've seen some people say it made their scalp way oilier, and I already have a very oily scalp and because of my scalp condition I have to regularly make sure there's no oil built up or dead skin built up on my scalp, so I'm not sure if this would work for me ;( I have tried washing my hair once a week, did that for 2+ months and it did help a LITTLE with oiliness but still the max amount I can handle it 2 days without washing my scalp because my scalp is naturally oily, however I did read that charcoal is great for scalp eczema AND the medical shampoo they gave me made my scalp irritated and the thing that actually helped my scabs on my scalp go away was a DIY flaxseed gel hair mask which my doctor was shocked about seeing how much my scalp had improved! So I might do it :) I also recently found out I had pcos and that explains my hairloss of 4 years and currently having bald spots at 19, which is why anything to do with my hair scares me, but I'll do more research and it's nice knowing you also have pcos~ thank you for the video!

I read this article before finding this vid - waleandme.com/water-only-hair-washing/ - might be helpful if people are thinking of only using water to wash their hair :) I found it very insightful!
I think when you've gone without shampoo long enough, you won't need to use hair oil on your hair because the natural oils will condition your hair for you. Although in the article I've linked she mentions putting hair oil on her ends only (at least I think she did...).

When I used to dye my hair crazy colours I decided to wash my hair less frequently so the dye wouldn’t wash out as fast. I managed to work it to about once a fortnight. I then went back to my “normal” colour. And continued with the process of washing my hair less frequently. Working my way to approx once a month to 6 weeks. I usually trim my hair every 3 months to get rid of the bleached left overs. I’ve noticed in that time I have far less hair loss both when brushing or washing, less split ends, less greasy (some days a bit oilier than others but it often clears after a day or so) and it’s growing much quicker. I also upped my omega 3’s and cut out seed oils which helps with psoriasis and perspiration. Sadly the shampoo I was using was still store bought.
My last hair wash was 10 weeks ago, and my hair has become even stronger still. Brushing takes less than a minute (I have waist length very thick hair) and it looks super shiny. I still have some split ends to trim out. I’d say that introducing egg yolks and increasing butter and fish has been a huge help. The psoriasis is still there as there are some plant foods I still eat that trigger it, but it is no longer problematic like it used to be.
Good luck with your hair and pcos journey. Your hair looks fab here.
