I had the honor to play against him as a youth player. He played for Elinkwijk in that time together with Vanenburg. I had no doubt that once he would be world league and one of the best players of all time.
Right foot, Left foot, Headers, Speed, Skill, Short range, Long range, finesse, power, tap ins, bicycle kicks, dribbling, passing/assists...Could do it all. Sad to see his career cut short, Van Basten was kicked and fouled constantly in an era of football when players weren’t protected as they are now. Those of us who were lucky to see him play for AC Milan and earlier for Ajax will know. I wish the quality of the videos were better for everyone to see, but thank you for uploading this compilation. People from the Netherlands will probably remember that till the mid 80s we only had Dutch football on TV but when Gullit, Rijkaard and Van Basten played for AC Milan, we got an entire program dedicated to them and the Italian league. There was no internet so you didn't know anything until they showed the highlights and believe me, they hardly ever disappointed.

R9 is good in dribling,skills,balance,control ball,sprint. But Van basten is more to Vollley,heading,shot power. for me both of them is great of course their gameplay is not the same because football is follow the manager tactician.

When I was a kid and used to play ball with my friends, I always wanted to be a striker inspired by two players. Marco Van Basten and Jürgen Klinsmann. Both made me see football as art and not a simply sport. No player today plays with such class! Good ol times.
How scary Holland would've been in the early 90's with bergkamp on 10 and a healthy van basten as the dream finisher. Never seen a striker like him. He had incredible balance. He could carry the ball and go past anyone. He could head the ball better than most. He could hit the ball from 30 yards out from both right and left foot. In the box he could be a poacher. He also delivered everything with great style. He also played in the dirties league at the time (Serie A ) where there was no protection for players. I would always have him in a worlds best XI. Truly a magnificent player.

As a child this man was my absolute idol! You forget things thou as you get older, so I watch back now and then, it always amazes me just how powerful his shooting was, I mean he was LASER accurate, but the power he strikes 98% of his shots with is astounding! Like how can he hit the ball so effortless yet so hard? Even his headers, he absolutely launches them. He has something I can't quite explain, it's like his vision is robotic, like it tells him exactly when and where to strike a football to create the absolute maximum force. And another remarkable thing with him, which I've never seen since, he plays against world class world renowned players, but he is super confident and composed. It's kinda like as thou he's playing football on the school yard, and he's miles better and older than all the other kids. His level is insane, he doesn't even doubt he's going to score, he just makes the perfect touch, dribble, feint, pause whatever til he strikes the ball flawlessly! I read somewhere Cruyffs team talk once concisted something like, "Just get the ball to Marco, that's it!" You will never see a player as good in front of goal as this ever again

When I was a kid and used to play ball with my friends, I always wanted to be a striker inspired by two players. Marco Van Basten and Jürgen Klinsmann. Both made me see football as art and not a simply sport. No player today plays with such class! Good ol times.

He also played in the dirties league at the time (Serie A ) where there was no protection for players. I would always have him in a worlds best XI. Truly a magnificent player.

You forget things thou as you get older, so I watch back now and then, it always amazes me just how powerful his shooting was, I mean he was LASER accurate, but the power he strikes 98% of his shots with is astounding! Like how can he hit the ball so effortless yet so hard?

He has something I can't quite explain, it's like his vision is robotic, like it tells him exactly when and where to strike a football to create the absolute maximum force. And another remarkable thing with him, which I've never seen since, he plays against world class world renowned players, but he is super confident and composed.
It's kinda like as thou he's playing football on the school yard, and he's miles better and older than all the other kids. His level is insane, he doesn't even doubt he's going to score, he just makes the perfect touch, dribble, feint, pause whatever til he strikes the ball flawlessly!
