I just completed my 10 pc install. Packing for shipping=AA++++!! A pickup load of "garbage cardboard" = A+! Instruction manual=does NOT exist in cartons. Thank God for CZcams and a few install videos on new age website were helpful.
I have not searched all comments below, but I did discover one thing that made it fairly EZ to install overhead cabinets mostly by myself. Turn ONE cabinet on its side! It is the exact 24 inches you need to support the small overhead cabinet you are currently installing. I would suggest a very thin towel or cardboard to prevent scratches in either cabinet...particularly the one you are work off of! This was a TREMENDOUS help to installing 3 of the 4 overhead cabinets! i know this will be a big help to everyone especially the do it yourselfers! Glad I could help!!
You said mostly by yourself… does that mean it can’t be done by 1 person? I’m female :)
Sooo glad I found your channel. you made it so simple. I bought these 2 years ago, the closest to installing them, is getting them assembled with all the hardware, now all is needed to do is to install them. I called handymen, & they wanted outrageous prices. Now that I seen this video, when I move into my forever home, I will install the cabinets, tabletop, wall slats, lights, myself and a friend while we watch this video. I have the 16pc, corner cabinet / corner work top as well. Appreciate you!
Glad to help! It's pretty easy and if you take your time and read the directions it goes pretty quick!
Boy did I watch many garage presentations these past couple days. Great video.
Just got mine and started to assemble them. Love the power bar charging station idea. Thank you for your video.
Love your garage! It looks great. I'm remodeling my entire garage and thinking about getting cabinets like these. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the advice on the locker door.
Thank you for posting this.
Very articulate and all of the points covered. Also appreciate the things you didn’t like.
Just a thought for the rolling cabinet angle issue:
Tile the floor under the cabinet and level the floor just in that area alone. Use a heavy duty metal piece around the perimeter of the tile to protect it.
Thanks for the feedback! That a good idea, I'll have to give some thought to it
Really detailed and informative video; the best one I've seen on these cabinets. Fantastic job!
Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed!
Amazing review my friend! I’m buying this set because of you! 🤠
Excellent! Glad I could help. You will love being in your garage once you get this setup done!
Great video man. I just ordered this same 12 piece set.
Great review and great info!
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing this excellent video! My Costco New Age 12 Piece System arrives next week. This helps so much!
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
Same experience with working with customer support. They stand by their stuff.
Thanks for the video.
This was beyond helpful, thanks Travis!
Glad you enjoyed!
GREAT VIDEO!
Thanks! I appreciate the support!
well done and much appreciated
Thanks for watching!
Great video. Thank you for your detailed review.
Pop quiz: how many times you say: “tons & tons”😜
Thank! Probably to many haha!
Thank you, very good tips helped me with a perfect install, much appreciated
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Beautiful
Thank you for this video :)
This was tonnes and tonnes fun to watch. It was tonnes and tonnes helpful. Thanks a tonne. I installed mine yesterday, best way is to level the large cabinet and bolt to the wall, install the fixed tool chest in the middle put on the work table and use the table to hold up the wall cabinets with the styrofoam pieces that come in the cupboards, need 22” of styrofoam, is was a breeze to install these by myself that way. The longest part of the job was cutting up all that shipping material to fit in the recycle bin. I completely filled them up already with tools, gonna order more soon, looks like you got nothing to put in them nice cabinets
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
$10 to the first person who counts the number of times he said cabinets in this video.
Great video! Just after the 17 min mark when you were showing off your power tool cabinet under the work table you mentioned there was a small space to run power cables through. Is that true of the tall locker cabinets as well? Curious to know if the cabinets are covering up outlets if I could run an extension cord from the outlet on the wall and feed it into the cabinets.
Thanks! Yep there are holes to pass power cords through the tall upright cabinets as well as the lower cabinets. My outlet is located right behind the lower cabinets, there is space behind them if you don't recess them in. The upright cabinets there is no room behind but there is plenty of room underneath. All my power cords are run underneath that cabinets near the back so you cannot see them.
Hi, what peg board height you were able to put in between work bench and upper cabinets
Really, really, really, really - alot of good storage. Really!!!
Thanks for the video. I was hoping they came preassembled (mostly). My last set did not. I’m planning to mount mine at least 6 inches off the floor and disregard the casters. Makes cleaning underneath easier in my garage.
Awesome! I just put out a video the other day answering that question amount others. The directions all show using the feet for all the cabinets. I believe the wall mounting is more so to hold them in place while having the weight resting on the feet of the cabinets. It may be worth dropping NewAge customer care a line and asking about mounting without feet to make sure the cabinets could take the weight.
@@travisadventureprojects4578 Thanks. I’ll check it out and contact them. I’m they’re not designed to be hung (like others that have a horizontal mounting bracket) but my garage is heated with floor drains so I like to hose it down during the cold MN winters. Makes it easier to have them off the ground. I may see if I can rig something.
@@flixsymmetry Awesome! The base around the feet has extra reinforcement whereas the back is just the sheet metal with holes in it. It would make for a really cool setup if you could have them floating! You will have to let me know what you eneded up doing!
@@travisadventureprojects4578 I will!
@@travisadventureprojects4578 Well, I finally pulled the trigger. Cabinets arrive on the 4th. I have a long driveway and they’re dropping them off at the curb so my first chore will be getting it all up to my garage.
Great work showing the installation. I am getting my set from Costco this week. My foundation lip looks like yours except for, it sticks out 5 inches from the wall. Should I lift the lockers and install them on top of the foundation lip? That way everything will be flush to the wall or should I keep them on the ground and use 2 x 4s in the back to be able to attach them to the wall stud?
Nice cabinets - thanks for the extensive review. I'm thinking about getting the red units for my shop when it is complete. Seems like you could've compensated for the deep end of your garage with some 2x4s or something and leveled up the unit that way, no? You only appear to be a few inches off, if that? Just a thought.
That is what I did do adding 2x4 blocking to help lift the low end of the garage.
Great review! Can you roll the 8 foot table out to work on if you wanted or is it mounted to the big lockers?
It is hard mounted to the upright lockers. That's an interesting idea! I bet you could figure something out if you looked into it.
Great video!!
Can you please tell me the demensions of the wooden top?
Thanks so much.
Great video!! I got some bold series multi lockers but want them off the floor and wall mounted. On the manual it doesn’t mention anything about wall mount. Do you think I can just screw 4 lag screws to stud and be okay?
You'd probably have to contact NewAge customer service. They were good to deal with and could probably give you a good answer.
We have the Pro Series in our RV garage. Great product! Just bought some Bold Series lockers for our car garage but are having a hard time installing the shelves. Any advice?
I found sometimes I had to push on the outside of the cabinet to get the slots to line up with the shelves.
Great video, quick question. My garage has a small bump out on the floor so there is no way to attach them flush to the wall, if I don’t attach them is that going to be a problem?
Thanks! They say you don't need to attach them to the wall, you just may have to place an extra hand on the cabinet as you open a door. I have an additional upright cabinet in my garage that isn't attached to the wall yet and it is by no means unstable.
What you could do is measure how much the bump out sticks out, then get a board to attach to the studs of your wall that would stick out just as much or further than the bump out. The cabinets have a fairly wide set of attachment holes in each cabinet. So if you had a wide board and leveled it on your wall attaching to the studs, you would have a secure spot to attach the upright and overhead cabinets to. I don't have the under counter cabinets attached to the wall as the tabletop helps keep them in place.
I did see another youtuber who had a similar thing. He removed the back legs and set the back of the cabinets on ledge, attaching them to the wall. The front legs he just extended them and blocked them up with some 2x4.
Seriously considering the bold series. How have they held up over the past 3 months? Any issues with the 24 gauge steel, do the doors still feel pretty solid or flimsy? Thanks
They have held up great! I haven't had any problems with them over the past 3 months. I have another video coming out here in the next few days which is a bit of a 3 month review and answering some questions I've gotten about them. So stay tuned for that!
Thanks for the review! We just installed the same set yesterday. Would you mind sharing the brand of pegboard you used (or where you purchased it)? Thanks!
Absolutely! I picked this pegboard up at Canadian Tire, its made by Mastercraft (their store brand). I've just posted a link in the video description to a similar set on Amazon. We needed 2 sets to cover the full 8ft.
@@travisadventureprojects4578 Awesome. Thanks!
Can you share what kind of lights you have in your garage? Where did you get them?
Great looking set up. Side note what did you paint your garage floor with and concrete side walls?
Thanks! The concrete side wall is currently just bare concrete. The floor was painted with a latex paint by our builder because some kids decided to have a camp fire on the garage pad during construction. I wouldn't recommend the paint because it's peeling in a lot of places.
Awesome video! We are getting ready to install our cabinets and I got a lot of great tips/information from your video. I do have a question: In our garage we have baseboard all the way around so the cabinets are not able to be flush against the wall, which means bolting the cabinets to the wall will be a challenge. We thought of ripping out the baseboard, but that seems a bit extreme. Do you have any suggestions on the best way to bolt the cabinets to wall with the baseboard in the way? Thanks so much!
Thank you! If it were me I would screw a couple boards that are thicker than the baseboard across the walls into the studs. This way you could butt the cabinets up to these boards and used them to screw to. There is quite a large area of bolt holes in the cabinets so it shouldn't take to much messing around to get the boards at the proper height.
@@travisadventureprojects4578 Thanks so much for getting back to me and for the great suggestion! We will definitely give it a try. Keep the great videos coming!! Thanks.
Awesome thanks for the support! Let me know how it turns out?!?!
Great video. Can I assume the lights all daisy chain and only require one plug? How high should I place an outlet? About 6ft so it's hidden? Thanks !
Ya they all hook together so you only need one plug. I ran the cord down behind the cabinets to a lower plug in. As for the height of the plug it could vary depending on the slope of where you place your cabinets.
I noticed that your locker on the left is against the adjacent wall. It looks like the left door of that locker is limited on opening fully by the wall. Would you recommend an offset from the wall to allow that door to fully open? If so, how much offset would you suggest? P.S. I liked your video!
Thanks! Glad you liked it! You can open the left door to 90 degrees with the wall. An extra 3 or 4 inches would probably give you enough to open the door fully.
Great video! What type of peg board did you use for the backsplash?
Thanks! If you take a look in the description there is a link to the pegboard on Amazon.
Hi Travis, did the concrete footing pose any problems getting the cabinets flush with the wall? Or the footing is already flush with drywall…
With this install the drywall was flush for me, but I also did a video installing one of these cabinets with a footing that sticks out. Check it out! czcams.com/video/sut3p4htpdk/video.html
Thx for the video. Is it possible to float all of the cabinets by bolting everything to the wall and not using the feet?
I don't think so unfortunately. There are tons of mounting holes but all the reinforcement is built in down around the feet. The cabinets would probably hang fine but I can't imagine you'd be able to really load them up with stuff.
Thanks for the awesome video. Where did you get those peg boards? They seem to fit very nicely. Doesnt look like its from New age
You're right! I purchased mine from Canadian Tire, but there is a link in the description to an identical set on Amazon.
Just got a 10 piece for $500 on marketplace. Got a deal
I have a question about your pegboard, did you go with those tempered wood pegboards readily available at hardwood stores, they are about 1/4” thick? I haven’t gotten around to assemble my cabinets, I would like to order my pegboard set, saw one I liked it’s a bit thicker than those thinner usual pegboards, does the pegboard have to sit flush with top cabinets and the counter top? Would there be a problem with two pegboards that measures 24x48?
Hey there! I did a whole video dedicated to the pegboard I installed. Here is the link hopefully it answers all your questions! czcams.com/video/FaA3pXBz80s/video.html
Nice video, where did you get those overhead garage lights from? I like how low profile they are
I got these lights at Canadian Tire, it's similar to Harbour freight in the USA. They sell similar versions on Amazon but I'd beware. They aren't certified by any agency, which is required for install in North America, so if you had a fire for whatever reason you might run into insurance problems.
Great setup! I am thinking about getting this system but i have a problem with concrete slab sticks out 5 inches from the wall. The concrete slab around my garage is about 2ft high from the floor and 5 inches thick, sticking out. These cabinets will not sit flush against the wall. Is there a solution for this type of situation?
Sure, just screw a 4x4 and a 2x4 to the wall where the cabinets mount at the top giving you 5” of clearance. I needed 2 inches so I used a 2x4 and 1x4 for little more than 2 inches of clearance. I added the same at the top of the cinder block so I could hang the cabinets to the wall with 6 inches of clearance rather than having them on the floor. Hope this helps.
Does this have to be against a completely flat wall? My wall has areas that are flat for 90 inches... Then bumps out from the wall about 4-6 inches. How would you manage the change ( the lip where the wall changes depth).
I'm actually going to be putting another video for that reason, so stay tuned! You would most likely have to add some blocking on the wall where the bolt holes are that is thicker or as thick as the bump out You are talking about. Then the cabinets could be screwed to that.
I would like to have my under table space straight down the middle like you used to have it. Maybe there’s some sort of support I can put down the center while still maintaining leg room.
It was really only the front where the 2 pieces joined that was a little floppy. I'm sure you could rig up some sort of metal plate that re-enforces the seam.
Are the drawers slow-close? If not, do you know if the Pro series cabinets have them?
They are not slow close unfortunately. I'm not to sure about the pro series.
How has the quality held up since you installed these? Would you still recommend? Or should I look at something else for my garage/personal fab shop
Honestly, I still like them a lot! I'm never too hard on my stuff, so I haven't had any problems yet. The steel is a little on the thinner side, so the threat of denting is there.
Is there room behind the lockers, base cabinets, and wall cabinets to run extension cords or wiring if the cabinets are secured to the wall?
Any of the cabinets that have been secured to the wall do not have any space behind them. The two rolling tool chests and two middle cabinets have space behind them as they aren't secured to the wall. There is plenty of room to run extension chords underneath all the cabinets as they are on feet. The upper wall cabinets there is no room behind, but you could run chords hidden on top of them. The upright cabinets don't have any room behind either but plenty of room underneath.
@@travisadventureprojects4578 Thanks for the reply.
@@travisadventureprojects4578 How did you feed power to the led valance lights? You mentioned there are grommet holes in some of the cabinets, is that what you did?
@@MikeWhiteman I had a plug in behind one of the rolling cabinets. I ran the cord up the gap that was created by my pegboard pushing the table top out. That little gap had come in handy for power. Without that gap it could be a little tricky. You could set them up, run the power, then tuck the wire down one of the upright cabinets. You would probably have to slide the table top forward to get the power cord by, then just squish the cord in there when you push the table top back. I posted a link in the video description to an in depth video I did on the pegboard I installed. I went into a little more detail about running power for my stereo in that one. I did the same thing for the overhead lights, just on the other end, if you want to check it out.
Were all 4 of your upper wall cabinets able to bolt onto 2 studs each? I am trying to mount 3 upper wall cabinets and my 16" spaced studs leave me with 1 cabinet with 2 bolts, instead of 4
My studs were coved with plywood and wallboard making a stud finder impossible. I was able to measure from a know stud to mark them. For the most part I hit the studs, but a couple spots missed only bolting to the plywood. All my cabinets have been very sturdy, so I don't think it would be the end of the world with only 2.
How did you run the wires and plug in for the lights I see no outlet or anything
I ran the wire down the corner of the pegboard and through the little hole between the counter top and the wall that installing the pegboard made. From there, there is space behind the rolling cabinets and floor cabinets to run behind. I have a plug located behind there. Withought the small gap made by installing the pegboard there really is no space to run the wire.
Hey man! Where did you purchase the magnetic linkable lights? Maybe I am missing them but I do not see them on newages site.
Mine came with my kit, but I have seen similar ones for sale on Amazon. I'll post a link in the video description so you can check them out!
@@travisadventureprojects4578 that would be great, thank you!
How long did it take you from start to finish? Also, how many people did you need to do it?
Working at a pretty laid back pace it took about 4-5 hours. I did most of it by myself but had the help of my wife to balance and hold things in place while bolting together. You could probably manage by yourself but it might be a little tricky.
I will need to hang my cabinets because of a concrete "baseboard". Travis, can you tell me the bolt pattern/size of the leveler feet? Getting info out of NewAge has been a real struggle. I'm supposed to get my cabinets next week after ordering them over 2 months ago. I would really appreciate it if you could tell the size of the leveler feet bolts. THANK YOU for the vid!!
I'd love to help, but I don't have any left over bolts from the feet and I can't really get in there to take one out now. Are you planning on having the back of the cabinets sit on the concrete then use the front feet to stabilize the front?
@@travisadventureprojects4578 Thanks for the reply. I'd love to be able to rest the back on the concrete, but the top of it varies about 1/2' over the span of the cabinets so they will be above the concrete in most areas but will rest on it in some. The idea was to also bolt them into the studs and support the front with the legs and levelers. My challenge is I don't think the supplied leveler feet are long enough and I may need to buy aftermarket levelers and install them in to the feet before I mount the cabinets on the wall. I was hoping to buy the longer levelers and have them on hand when the cabinets arrive but so far, I've had no luck finding out what size bolts fit into the feet.
@@mikehughes8886 Shoot, that sounds like a tricky situation. I had to use some blocking to level up some of my cabinets. If you can, even with the variation with the concrete baseboard it might be benifital to allow some of the cabinet to sit on it where you can. I'm thinking make sure the cabinets go in level but allow the back to sit on the concrete as much as possible maybe using some thin blocking to fill in some of the low spots. Doing that, with longer adjustable front legs and mounting it to the studs you'd have all corners of the cabinets supported and I bet a very stable setup!
Hi. My work bench has a steel top and vise. It's build not bought. Why won't that set up work for you?
Can you add more shelves to the bigger cabinets?
There are extra slots to arrange all the shelves. It comes with quite a few shelves, I think we had a couple left over once we arranged everything.
Hi, I am about to purchase and found this video which is extremely helpful. I currently do not have electrical on the wall where they will go. Where is the best placement for an outlet or multiple outlets. Also, I have a cement lip at the base of my wall which is about 2 " out from the drywall. I assume that I will have to block that out in the back so I can attach the upper cabinets. Where are the upper cabinet holes so I know where to have the wood?
Thank you I appreciate it! As for outlets your best bet would probably be the open wall above the table top or behind the rolling cabinets as there is some space there. Here is a link to another video I did where I mounted a cabinet with a footing czcams.com/video/sut3p4htpdk/video.html. The problem with mounting the wood before the cabinets arrive is the first one takes a little bit of messing around to get level and until you have that one in place you won't know the level for the wood. Best bet would be to wait until they arrive, set the first one up the figure out where the wood will have to go.
@@travisadventureprojects4578 Thanks for the info. So for the lights, where did you run the wire to an outlet? I was thinking to an outlet but behind the cabinet. Is the cord long enough/
@T C I happened to have an outlet behind the rolling cabinets. The cord was plenty long to run up. With our pegboard there happened to be a gap near the corner due to the way it fit.
Can these be anchored to concrete walls?
I'm sure if you purchased some concrete fastners it could be done.
Great video! You have an awesome set up. I just ordered these cabinets and planning to do a similar set up. I wanted to ask what your countertop height is? (From floor to top of counter) and if you’d be able to attach the tool drawers to the wall as opposed to having them on the floor? Also, do you have any info on the pegboard and where to get it? Thanks!
I don't don't recall if the tool drawers have an option to be attached to the wall. The counter height is about 3ft. That would change slightly depending on how far out you have the legs adjusted. I picked up the pegboard set at Canadian Tire, it is made by Mastercraft. I've posted a link in the video description to a similar set on Amazon to what we bought. 1 Set covers 2'x4' so 2 sets are needed to fully cover the opening for this setup.
Awesome! Thank you
How did they rectify the dented cabinets? Getting mine tomorrow.
They offered to send a replacement and pick up the old one. Since the dent was in the back corner I had already smoothed it out, tac welded it and installed it. So we worked out I would get the extra cabinet but not have to send the first one back for all the trouble it had caused.
@@travisadventureprojects4578 just opened mine, at least one has a big corner Dent, but it still opens fine
@@blaskotron shoot thats no good! I'd give customer service a call. They were pretty good to deal with. Sounds like this isn't entirely uncommon. They seem to look after their customers pretty well.
How they holding up are they built good ?
They've been working great for me, but I'm never to hard on my stuff. I could see if you were dumping heavy tools onto the shelves it would be possible to dent them. Overall they hold all my tools and organize them well at a decent price so I'm happy!
@3:24 did those cabinets really come damaged like that..??
Would you suggest Bold or Pro series
I've been happy with the Bold series, they have worked really well for me. I don't have any experience with the Pro series so I can't really give a fair comparison.
@@travisadventureprojects4578 Ok thank you
@@TLYRIDER I have the Pro Series and they are really heavy duty. I also do not have experience with the Bold Series, but I’m really impressed with the Pro Series.
How deep is the work table? 18”?
Yep!
My tool cabinet came with 2 swivel casters and 2 fixed casters. I'm not sure what the point of that is because you can only roll it one way. If you need to move it any other way than that one way, you're having to drag the cabinet.
Mine were the same. I found I quickly got used to moving them around. With the fixed castors on the front it's really similar to pushing a shopping cart around.
The doors easily come off. That would have made the install a lot easier fyi
Never said anything about drawers if they slide on teflon or bearings
It was a little flimsier than I expected. I had to add a 2x2 piece of wood to the bottom on the rear side in order to stabilize it better czcams.com/users/postUgkxXTh-lz-8W6GcB219vTLp27-MxbZYObBX . It is also starting to bow a little at the outer wall ( I've had it up for about 6 months), I've already had a shelf tumble down because of the bow and the fact that the little shelf brackets are quite short. I went out to home depot and got some longer ones so that the shelves don't tumble down again. Overall, it looks very nice for the price and it holds a lot ( I use it as a pantry). I am very satisfied with my purchase. I just strongly suggest reinforcing it before putting it up.
how long did it take to set up
With setting up and filming about 6 hours, but I was moving pretty slow.
@@travisadventureprojects4578 Thanks for getting back to me looks great go a set coming
You mention Costco.. did you purchase them from Costco
Yep! They had a deal online
This was pretty cool , till I saw the royobi tools! Lol, nah kinda kidding… good set up organizing bro. [except those Ryobi tools]
Seems like a bunch of people use their tools, and don't have any issues with them(these days anyway)
I went with ridged because of a Deal on drivers a few years ago, and I want my batteries to work together. I don't think any brand is particularly shitty for a home diy person.
Have had my ryobi tools for years. No issues as of yet! (Knock on wood)
Aaaahhh
Only bad thing is the 25 gauge steel
They are a little thiner than I would like but I have yet to have any issues with denting yet.
How much does it cost from Costco?
I bought mine over a year ago. With covid and the price fluctuations I really can't give you an accurate number. Best bet is to check out the Costco website for your country. You never know they may have a sale!
How are your cabinets doing today? Give us an update?
They're holding up great! I definitely still like them a lot.
Nice video. If you ask me, you got alot of sound bouncing in your garage, might be time to whip out the drywall texture spray gun or can, and/or put some dampening boards somewhere in there :)
I was looking for installation instructions
No watch what you did.
NewAge has a channel with some great how to videos on installation!
Yea better be good customers service, you spent 2500$ for that set
Stay away from Husky Junk just returned 2 cabinets waste of time.
Drawers are too narrow...won't work for real tools.
Much rather have a custom-built wood cabinet than overpriced manufactured.
Thanks for the video, it’s extremely helpful. I do have one question regarding the roller cabinet. Does the locking wheel actually swivel? It appears that it’s fixed in one position/direction.
Hey no problem! Wanted to put together something that answered all all questions I had before purchasing. Yep the front two wheels swivel. They roll very nice, and the cabinet is very maneuverable.
@@travisadventureprojects4578on mine, the locking wheels don't swivel without extreme force. NewAge told me this was normal and was to prevent tipping
@roddg that's odd, they must have made a change. Mine swivel quite easily.
