- We make these films just for fun, and we hope that you have enjoyed watching them however we have been asked on a couple of occasions now if we have a Patreon account. We don’t want to do that at this stage as we feel it would turn the channel into a business, and as we said at the beginning, this is all just for fun. However if you would like to support us and feel you could help contribute to the cost of making these films then you can do that via our PayPal account here. A big thank you to everyone that has already done this, its a great help.

Many a sailor has polished the keel at the Whittaker. It's mud not sand so on a rising tide no real problems. However, anyone navigating the Thames estuary has to keep their Witt's about them and eyes peeled.
Modern navigation equipment is a massive blessing.
Hi Sudo. Thats what we were thinking and certainly did us no harm. There is a time and a place but on such a benign day, on a rising tide, well that is as good a time as any.
What may appear to be boring may to others be interesting , especially for those that are landlocked.
Hi Eric. Thanks, thats what we were hoping
Definitely. Northamptonshire here. Sailing is dinghies on a ressie or a 3-4 hour drive in most directions!
Glad I've found this channel, great to see a normal family just enjoying the boat, buying one myself soon (need to get the funds together first!) anyway, glad the comments are back and keep up the great vids
Hi ya. Thanks, glad your enjoying the content, good luck in your own adventures
I sail up in the Clyde guys where you have a lot of water beneath, i must say your pilotage to sail those waters is fantastic and to see where you had just sailed at low tide it is scary!!
Hi Andy. You get used to it. The first time I was in deep water and the depth guage read --- I thought something had gone wrong and got worried
Mind if you do get a Clydeside bottom it’s rocks rather than East coast mudlarking…. 😬
We live in BC Canada, keep the boat on Vancouver Island... sometimes we just have to motor around too. It happens, but still getting out there is worth it. Good video 👍👊
Good to hear from you and good to know that its not just us
It is nice to see you using Daphi even when the forecast isn't great for sailing over a Bank Holiday weekend, you certainly made the most of it, well done.
I ventured out on the Saturday from the club and managed to photograph the various racing fleets on my way back, which made up somewhat for the lack of wind.
Monday wasn't so much fun though, we were drifting sideways with the tide, when you motored past us on the Medway!
🙃
We were very impressed that you were managing to sail at all though, well done. As long as you dont have places to get to sailing on days like that can be very rewarding
Your latest video would have been helpful for us to see before the Bank Holiday as we sailed from Shotley to Chatham for the first time on the holiday Friday. I was not looking forward to the first bit of the Medway. I was dreading Sheerness and the big ships. Your footage showed the way in and your track around the big stuff. Too late for me but really helpful in the future for others. I was keeping a lookout for Daphi as we headed upriver. Clearly you were up the Crouch at the time. Thanks for posting and happy sailing.
Hi Nigel. Good to hear from you and glad your finding the films helpful. Be sure to say hello if you come across us at any time.
Fully onboard with the lobster pots, when you're offshore and they're just a milk carton floating on the water it really sucks. When I was growing up in Robin Hoods Bay you could always see the pots because of the buoys or the flags, or both. Drives me nuts.
Hi Tom. Yup flags would help here as well as when the chop was up on the Saturday morning these were all but invisible unless you were on top of them
@@SailingwiththeFoxwellFamily We only get the lobster pots from late September here in Sweden, but they're everywhere then! And some have DARK BLUE buoys. Good luck spotting those...
Yup often ours are just old translucent water containers etc which are also awful
Always nice to see your vids! Thanks for sharing your adventures! Greetings from Holland. Have fun!
Hi Stefan. Thanks, lovely to hear from you
Love to see everything on video you are passing by on the boat. But also some siteseeing ashore.
In two weeks I will be sailing NL to Ipswich, Woodbridge and what more for two weeks. Maybe wind will be back by then :)
Hi Peter Lets hope so.
Let's face it, normal life is a grind. It's the time away, even if the weather isn't great, that makes it worth the grind. Besides, where would your subs be, if it weren't for that sweet ukulele solo at the beginning and end of every video. 😊
Hi Chuck. Nice to hear from you as ever and good to know that you agree with our thinking.
Get a cheap AIS Receiver and hook it up to a stubby VHF antenna on the transom rail and to your instruments via NMEA the big ships won't see you but you will know they are there if they have their transmitters on.
Hi Tryhard. Yup we will do that one day. With the Thames at the end of our home river it is high up on the list of things to do.
Wahey. Welcome back Foxwells!
Hi Ruaraidh. Great to hear from you as ever
Happy Mother's Day Hannah.
Hi Ed. Thank you
So pleased to see this video… you caught on camera my late father’s yellow Westerly Centaur ‘Harvest Gold’ that I sold to her new owner end of last summer ❤️
Hi Steve. Good to hear from you and glad you enjoyed the film
Father's Day Present: AIS?
Hi Romeo, now thats an idea
Enjoyed the video. I keep a boat on Chesapeake Bay, USA, so it's fun to discover different sailing venues, explore other countries and see how others use their boats. Hope you get better conditions next trip but agree with going regardless. Great to see the family enjoying being on the water.
Hi Chuck, thanks good to hear from you. With have a few viewers from the Chesapeake area, are there similarities to the two sailing areas?
Really appreciate the "real life" adventures of sailing with family and encourage you to keep making these videos. I learned much from your solo sailing videos with the smaller boat, and look forward to the new adventures.
Thanks Chuck
Handy having teenage auto-helms available, but at 1:30: "how to lose a pair of binoculars". I like the look of the daggerboard-keel at 6:30, but it must be a great weed and everything-else gatherer with that forward-projecting bulb; the end-plate/wings could do with moving aft too.
Any chance of including chartlets showing your tracks in your videos? Darned if I can match your plotter at 18:00 to Navionics.
Hi Tony. Yes it would be good if I saved the tracks for inclusion in the films. I'll try and remember next time
Lifting keels are a bit like an extremely heavy daggerboard.
Thanks for showing us your BH weekend trip Ian. Can I ask about your camera system. It's quite eerie seeing you hold the camera in your hand, but no sign of the extension that it is so abviously on??
Hi Brian. Yes its an Insta360, 360 camera. A new toy for us. When people have been kind enough to contribute to the costs of making the channel we set the money aside and then invest it back into the channel when we need a new camera etc. Bit of a weird look to the pics but it does let us film things that we would other wise miss.
