  • Any one who sails in the Uk will know that this year has been particularly wet and windy... and the 2nd weekend in August was no exception.
With over 30 knots the day before i was hoping that my first outing in the Blaze for some time would not end in tears!
We make these films just for fun, and we hope that you have enjoyed watching them however we have been asked on a couple of occasions now if we have a Patreon account. We don’t want to do that at this stage as we feel it would turn the channel into a business, and as we said at the beginning, this is all just for fun. However if you would like to support us and feel you could help contribute to the cost of making these films then you can do that via our PayPal account here. A big thank you to everyone that has already done this, its a great help.

It’s great to see some dinghy sailing back on the channel 👍🏻⛵️

My dad was a dingy sailor and you did well to hang on in those conditions, one false move and you're in the water, well done.

Nice sailing. This brings back memories of 50+ years ago racing Enterprises, Mirrors and Mini Sails on the Tweed....

Great stuff Martin. Our Sailing Club (Lee on the Solent) just held a Blaze event last weekend. Saturday was horrendously windy with a big swell. Just one race before the RO canned it. Sunday was much better and a great day was had. We also hosted the Phantoms and Solutions. Just a 10 minute sail to our race area though from the beach. It looked exciting for you, and well done on the win.

Getting your boat up on its rail, somewhere between just right and way over canvassed; thats where all sailors like to be. Endorphins. Yea, baby.

Wow, that looked amazing. You were really shifting! Sadly, I am not a sailor. I did for a short time have a little speedboat on the Blackwater many years ago. However, I have never been on a sailing vessel. That doesn't stop me enjoying your sailing, and imagining I was there. Maybe one day I will get a chance to feel the powerof the wind.
And well done you and Hannah for winning your club event.

Great sail Ian. I love thr smooth path of the water coming off the stern when you're on a plane.
Thinking back to one of your earlier comments about it bring a windy summer, we' ve had more wind here on the Chesapeake too.
Hey to the family and Cheers!

Awesome vid Ian! Nice stering! If you like this speed, I suggest you try a catamaran once. I sail a Hobie Tiger myself and yes it's big time fun! Idea 💡? Hahaha greetings from Holland!

Hi, thanks, nice to know that you liked it. I did have a Vortex for a while which is like the love child between a catamaran and a dinghy. If you search our channel I think we made a film or to about it.

What a brilliant video Ian ! Thank you so much.
I pootle about in a Hunter Pilot 27 up the east coast from you at Walton on the Naze, but sometimes yearn for the dinghy days again, although I don't think I could fold myself in two like you do to get under that Blaze boom !

Hi Andrew. Good to hear that you enjoyed it. We like it at Walton on the Naze, one of our favourite places and you have a great dinghy club on your doorstep with a great piece of water to go exploring on. Have fun

I'm a hard-core subscriber who is looking at Blazes for sale on Apollo duck :) I used to own a Mirror and a Topper in the 80's, so these newer boats look fast in comparison. I'd like to get back into sailing, but I don't know which class to go for.

the Blaze isn't that hard a boat to sail but its not for a beginner, perhaps find one to try and see how you feel about it

Great video of a great sail, Ian. Your Blaze has some similarities to my Raider 16 (Raider is two feet longer and about 40% heavier). Mine has hull wings instead of rails, to sit out. I wear knee pads too. Essential. You asked about your speed on the 0.6 Nm leg. I came up with 11.25 knots. But with determining the length with Navionics, it can be tough for a short leg. If it was really 6.4 Nm, for example, you were averaging 12 knots. So maybe hitting 14 knots max? Quick! Well done in the Nationals. You were competitive with the top 20 in the country! And then going home and winning with Hanna? That's great!
