The one thing I never see in these guides is what to do with the SD a card in my old Switch, I just don’t want to mess anything up or lose info 😭
Just enter it because the sd card just gives it more space yk? So just enter it and your fine
@@octololz2953 Oh yeah, I got it figured out. Just switching SD cards meant I had to redownload everything, but at least I try not to buy digital unless I have to, so or wasn't too bad!
Me too. Literally the only reason I've been checking videos, and no one talks about it.
@@theostrugaming It was nerve-wracking for sure! I was worried I'd lose important data if I messed something up, and every video I watched would only talk about doing it with a PC. Luckily I did find that you can just switch the cards freely but you'll likely have to reformat it to your Switch, and then redownload your games. It's not too bad if you play mostly physical, but I wouldn't suggest that way if you're digital only or just have a ton of digital games.

Just an fyi if you play Animal Crossing New Horizons. If you want to transfer your island over you will have to get the Island Transfer tool on both consoles.
Once you do that, just follow the on screen instructions. If you don't do this you will loose your island. Unless you are completely OK with starting over from scratch.
I don’t mind starting a new island on my new Console but will my old island still be on my old console?

Hey, thanks very much for the video. I got an OLED model now , and I found the error that the switch comes up with when you click “yes” to using both systems for some reason, while trying to maintain the same account on both devices. What is the solution for this?
Do I have to transfer the data to the new Switch (while erasing it from the older one), and then log-in again, so that the new Switch is primary, and the old Switch is "non-primarily" linked to the same account? Please let me know, thanks.
What about the sad card. I have a 400 so card on my old switch will that get messed up if I take it out and put it in the new one?

Question my friend is letting me borrow their switch until I get my own (it came yesterday!). I don't want all the playing I've done to be erased so would I still be able to transfer my account from their switch to my Switch like this? what if you copy the sd card to a pc or mac then insert the card in the new switch formate it so that the new switch could read the card and paste the copied data back on to the card to avoid download everything again?

Does this data transfer process cause your Animal crossing new horizons data to be deleted from your source switch? Since I heard the transfer process for ACNH is separate to the other stuff
from your old switch you can use the island transfer tool from the eshop so your island moves over
Didn’t work for me but that’s good enough. I tried to do it through users but it just tells me “this account is already being used on another console” 😍👍🏽.

You don't have to dock the Switches, just plug the USB power cable directly into the console. That way you can use the Switch screens, and not the TV.

You didn't mention something really important. The user you want to move needs an Nintendo Account. Or can you transfer user data without Nintendo Account?

I am keeping both Switches. Can I keep all my games installed on both so i don't have to redownload all 600 GB on my backup switch? I want my new Olewd to be main but my old swoitch to be the 2nd switch but I want all games on both
Still figuring it out myself, but I'm pretty sure you have to put the sd card into your computer and copy files to your computer. You need a blank sd card for your new switch, put in new switch first because they will force you to reformat it, then in computer and copy back the files.
If the source switch doesn't detect the target switch, connect it to your phone hotspot. If you dont have a phone, use your PC or Laptop. It works even if your phone plan doesnt include a hotspot (for android at least). I hope this helps!

not sure if anyone has this problem, but when I went to transfer my data as i did from first release switch to animal crossing switch, things didnt go the same, I keep getting a request on the TARGET oled to log into my nintendo account, and my SOURCE switch is currently logged into my nintendo account to transfer the user data, then an error saying i am logged into a different switch and unable to transfer. none of the options in this video showed up to easily transfer my user data, it went from "user transfer> target or source> log into nintento account" each time... I have resorted to transferring my save one game at a time.

I have trauma from when I got a new 3ds (downgraded to 2ds)… sold my 3ds first to get it thinking I could just swap the sd card and keep all my data… had all the Pokémon I had collected for the past 6 years including shiny’s and event exclusives on my only non-physical Pokémon game and lost them all (it still hurts) never had the same drive to really get into Pokémon games since

So what happens when this doesn’t work? I followed this and selected that I wasn’t going to be using my old one so it seemingly deleted everything from the old device, but when I open my games after redownloading them or inserting a game card, there’s no save data. I have hundreds of hours in these games, and it’s now seemingly gone from both devices…
