You might know all these, but you might not! Enjoy and be sure to share your tips and tricks in the comments!
50/50 chance you don't know these tips
Nice recommendations
Those accessories are cool and all but is there an accessory for the switch to easily slip it in your pocket
Or to fit it
On the last spawn wave RGT said he didn’t know “black ghetto” guys play dragon ball z . Dude is a closet racist
Another tip for the micro SD cards - don't waste money on faster cards. The Switch doesn't support those high-end read/write speeds. Those speeds are meant for supporting 4K devices. For example, the $250-$300 SanDisk Extreme Pro 1 TB will function the same as a $150 SanDisk Ultra 1 TB in a Switch.
my man, thank you sir!
Thank you cause I just bought my switch last week
Nintendo Switch has an official 516 GB one. That’s the highest officially from Nintendo. So that’ll work. Make sure it’s licensed through Nintendo though.
Thanks bro, I had no idea
@@localandonlinepreciousmeta3575 no, bad
Paying for the print on the side, just get same brand, non nintendo
I recommend changing to Dark theme, easier on the eyes and saves a bit of battery.
I almost forget that it even has a light theme because I changed it to dark when I first got my original Switch in 2017 and never looked back.
@@HarmonicWave how do you change it?
@@rhogan4246 go to settings, themes and then you can change your theme from black to white, respectfully
Thank
I feel like dark theme could increase noticeable burn in on OLED models. My pixel4a has it where the white text for time, signal and battery has been projected onto a black background permanently.
Also a tip, buying physical copies of games save you money AND space. On the eshop games go for the original release price while in stores or online you can find physical copies of games for half of the original price. The only disadvantages is having to wait to get the game until you reach the store or the it gets shipped from online (which is only 1-5 days usually) and switching out the games from the port everytime you wanna play anything else. Personally, I regret buying games from the eshop so i learned my lesson.
The opposite is obviously also true. There are constantly sales going on in the eShop and especially indie games and older games (unless they're first-party) tend to get discounted way more on there than physically. In fact, for older games the physical price often actually goes UP in price after a while due to limited availability.
So if you don't care about owning games either physically or digitally, always check both media.
Id rather own the physical game , they look cool , if you get a nice case !
@@Louie86838 yep and if you ever sell your Switch you don't have to give up your nintendo account with all the games on it
You have made some solid points however I believe it comes down to preference. When you buy a digital copy, it is tied to your account, you can’t break or lose that digital copy, as you would a physical. Even if you lose everything in a fire, all you gotta do is load your account on your new switch and redownload all your games. I don’t mind paying a premium for that.
Also when it comes to space you are only saving digital storage when you buy digital games but when you buy physical games now you need a place to store that game case and as your library increases you will lose physical space in your home. I rather buy a 100 dollar 512GB microSD and not have to carry all that junk around.
So like I said, preference.
Physical copies can also be traded in. You're stuck with the digital copy forever and won't be able to recoup the cost if you disliked the game.
i actually found holding the switch as intended no accessories or nothing just the normal joycons it was actually really comfotable, even though i have slightly large hands it still felt nice to hold.
You must uave tiny baby hands.
@@EarthsGeomancer my hands are normal i guess,
I just got the OLED yesterday, I was surprised I was able to pick up it on Amazon for retail price..
I bought one from a scalper on ebay back in October cause I'm impatient
They're everywhere now
@@-Down-D-Stairs- lol I couldn’t do it. I refuse to pay scalpers price.
@@Tambrose0405 fr all over
Prices are going back up, got mine last week on Walmart website then a few hours later the price went up by 100 bucks
Buying a 1tb sd card during black friday was one of the best things i've done. Never have to worry about running out of space.
Got one for $109 from amazon on sale a couple days ago, so clutch
Facts. I got a red mario one 😂
Which 1TB do you recommend or is it all the same
The MTU tweak suggestion is like saying Size 10 shoes are better than size 9. It all depends on the size your feet.
And in this case it depends on your internet connection. Sometimes changing the MTU to higher might even hamper the download speeds. For me for example changing MTU to 1500 actually doubles my download times.
The internet is filled with guides on how to check the optimal MTU for the connection you are using.
Thank you for the information. I want the fastest speed possible
Didn't know about the MTU setting. I'll definitely have to change that. Thanks for the tip!
The MTU size "hack" is a good one, as long as you know exactly the MTU size, which your network is operating on. To get it not that technical: If you're having a carrier which provides you Internet via IPv6: Do not change the MTU to a size, which IPv6 cannot handle anymore (1500 as Framesize can be to large). In bad cases, your provider is dropping your packets leaving in connection loss. So, only modify the MTU size, as long as you know, what you're doing there.
I've had my Switch since 2017 or 2018 and this is the first time I've heard about an MTU value. Thanks!
I highly recommend the satisfye grip and hori split pads. I can’t play switch without em now. I never even thought of the airplane mode too, but I only play in handheld so that should help a bit.
The split pad is nice, but I prefer the NYXI game pad. It’s fully wireless and with the grip, it can function as a separate controller
Dang it, I wish I knew about that before i got my pro controller
I can’t find NYXI,
I see Nexigo and nyxia.
Any help?
@@pbosche BinBok controllers are practically the same as the NYXI controllers.
For the SD cards, I’d recommend waiting for them to go on sale. I got one for 256 GB at Best Buy on Black Friday for $14 one year! I try to get them every year now.
You can get 2-3 hours more on your Switch in table top by using the Pro controller or another controller that is not connected to the Switch. It will start using the joycons as batteries.
Great tip thanks!
That's actually super cool and intuitive that nintendo added that function to the switch.
Just a solid, informative and well spoken video. Instant subscribe!
I use my switch like 98%+ of the time in hand held mode. Yes! Some kind of grip is a very big plus and aids in comfort. I use a mumba case that also fits in my case that I keep my switch in so I don’t need to keep taking it off unless I dock it. Yes! Some kind of micro sd card is a must. I’d also recommend a 256gb minimum and yes the name brand sandisk red or green cards are very cheap (even better prices on sale) and work just fine speed wise and comparable to the game cart speeds. You may not think you need one or will fill it up but you eventually will. Best to get a card for digital games and leave the internal memory to just the game saves as that is the only place it will put save data.
Edit: oh ya and the trick to turn off wi-fi (airplane mode) while in hand held mode to save battery is one I’ve used too and does work. As does lowering the screen brightness too as that is a major battery killer. Manually adjust it as needed in hand held mode. Don’t leave it in auto brightness adjusting.
2nd that on the Mumba case especially the new dockable one so I don’t have to remove it every time I want to play in docked mode. Love the feel/grip of it and it protects the Switch well.
Thank you for this! Just got mine and was suuuuuper confused!
Thank you so much. I knew I was forgetting something. The only thing I forgot was the MTU setting on my kids device. And I purchased a ton of games digitally recently and they were taking so much longer than my device. You are the man
Thank you for this!! I was super confused but this helped a ton!
I've had my switch since day one and I still got some info out of this!
If you just want ethernet on your existing dock, you can buy a USB Ethernet adapter instead of buying a whole new dock. That's what I did when I first got my Switch, and it works pretty great. That said, it might be beneficial to have an extra dock incase you have multiple rooms to play in, or want one you can take to a friend's house.
Good tips and made me feel better about the fact I waited for the OLED model. Also picked up the pro controller but wasn’t sure at the time of purchase. It is the go to controller. Rock solid tips dude.
Nyxl. Controller is pro pad with joy cons functions
I need to get the pro controller, I got the white OLED, but alo wanted RED joycons so I got those 1st. Realized after that I should have gotten pro controller...oh well.
I got a 8 bitdo usb receiver and use my ps4 controller
I miss magazines like Gamepro and tips N tricks. They were dope
I actually just bought my Switch Oled last week and this really helped. Thanks Sean!
I have had the fixture s1 about 1yr now and absolutely love this. If u have a pro controller and like to play in hand-held mode 100% a must have.
Will it fit the OLED model?
@@vanessamercedes7675 yeah as far as I know pretty much exactly same dimensions just little bit bigger on actual display size
Thanks for all the content man. Keep up the good work and Happy New Years!!!!
This video was really help ful since I got my Nintendo switch on Christmas
Thanks for the tip on MTU! And I may have to look into the Fixture device as well!
Hadn’t seen the mtu hint anywhere before, thanks rgt
Great content, just got my hands on a Switch OLED, joined the Nintendo family!
You sir got yourself a new sub, the trick with faster downloads is exactly what I needed!
I have had a Switch since launch and this is literally the first I have ever heard of changing MTU settings for faster download speeds and, no offense, I can't believe I'm typing this comment on an RGT85 video. Thanks, sir!
Didn't know about the MTU value. Thanks dude!
Cool video RGT 85.
Defo 5 great Switch Tips n Tricks man 👍.
Thanks for the useful tips RGT!
Great video learnt a lot .. thanks 👍🏼
Love your channel man - great info
I got the Hori pad for my Switch but prefer the Satisfye Grip as it's more comfortable.
Very informative thanks man
Also , Its important to mention that The Fixture S1 isn't compatible with the Oled yet
Happy new year RGT!
I always enjoy these types of videos.
I just got my Nintendo switch last week so good lookin out on the tips much appreciated. I'll be sure to subscribe so I can stay updated on what's new and for more tips. Have a great day. Peace
Those Hori split pads save battery power as well. They only work on the console so they aren’t charging while in use.
Great video, couple solid tips.
Happy 2022 y'all!!! Thanks for the tips especially the internet one as man the download speeds on eshop suck ;)
If battery life becomes an issue I'd recommend getting an inexpensive power bank to charge the Switch when you can't plug it in. You can get some pretty decent ones for $20-$40 and they can charge cell phones too.
I'm getting mine next week ,
And I'm toooooo excited for it 😁
Thanks for the tips!!! 👊🏾👊🏾👊🏾
I came here just so could get some information and to see if it's worth buy and seeing this has confirmed it, very useful
Great info!! Thank you very Much. Getting an OLED for Christmas. Very Cool 😎
That was a good video!
Thanks for the information😉
It feels good being back on Nintendo after retiring the GameCube.
Thank you sir. For your information just bought a oled switch.
I think putting your switch in Dark mode makes it look better. The all white background is bright and doesn’t look as visually pleasing as the dark mode IMO
Another awesome video thanks
Dude your a legit beast. Thank you
I just bought Nintendo switch a month ago and this video of yours really helped me a lot. Thank you so much sir😇
I just recently got my first LG oled TV and it has completely changed breath of the wild and all the rest of the games, but I didn’t think such a washed out game would be completely transformed. My other advice would be to spend $5 for the ethernet adapter like i did, instead of a new dock. My other advice would be to use your best gaming Bluetooth headphones for the best enhanced audio experience. My other advice would be to get the 1tb microsd card. 245gb or whatever gamestop carries at the largest isnt enough and is now in my cellphone
Hi, I'm recently getting a new 4k tv from a 1080p tv. It's a qled so not as good as an Oled but still pretty similar. What do you mean by it 'transformed' the games? Thanks
I just got the LGC1 best oled ever
I’ve got the Skull&Co grip and carry case set, awesome!
Very informative!!!
I'm very new to the switch as I ain't played Nintendo since the Gameboy and colour. great and very helpful video cheers keep up the good work.
RGT 'forgot' to mention that if you have an older Switch and have no intention of buying the new Switch dock, you can buy an inexpensive USB-Ethernet adaptor to use use with your existing 'old' dock that allows you connect your ethernet internet cable, thus bypassing the wi-fi, and getting better internet connectivity.....
Happy New Year Shawn, and all the RGT followers! 🙂
I feel like ur comment should be pinned by RGT so everybody that watches this video get aware of that cuz is a waaay cheaper option
I love the binbok joycons and the PDP fight pad pro GameCube controllers
Great vid from last year ❤
My wife got me mine in December, just ordered a ergo grip. After like 5 mins of playing now my hands feel like they are going to sleep. Looking forward to that helping
Great video RGT
I just got my switch OLED today with my skull and Co grip and it feels so good in hand I like the split pad pro I just feel like me personally it makes the system super wide and I feel like the old it is already a little bit bigger than the regular switch and I've used the dobie grip with my regular switch to me the perfect grip for handheld mode is the skull & Co I've used it for my regular switch and I've used the one for the OLED and they both feel great in hand
thumb grips can help a lot when playing handheld and have to use the thumbsticks a lot
Thanks for the video! My OLED model comes in today. New owner here. I have never owned a switch before. Definitely looking at all these options. Very informative. There are still some noobs like me out there. Hahaha
I’m one of those noobs 😂 picked up my switch a week ago.
Have a lot of catching up to do
I got my first switch (OLED model) in October. You will love it!!
Thanks I owned a Nintendo switch and this helped me
Thanks man
Wired is for the latency because wirelss or wired speeds haven't been a problem for the average person. it's the lag that could appear with wireless for some that could cause problems.
Binbok joycons > hori split pad. Binbok also has a "pro controller" that fits in the fixture S1 for $19! With turbo!. Fixture S1 is working on OLED model still...
Thank you. I'm going to buy binbok when my joycons don't work anymore.
HAPPY NEWYEARS RGT!!!!!
you too
Newbie here. Just found your channel. Thanks for the tips!
I just got the OLED version yesterday and one of the first things I did was to test internet speeds both on wireless and wired.
I saw some videos that talk about how Nintendo has screwed up the UPLOAD speed on the OLED, but download is excellent and fast then non OLED models.
Well, sure 'nuff!
The download is very close to the max, but upload was bouncing between 7 and 8.7 Mbps, just like in the videos.
While the non OLED models have uploads almost the same as downloads (40Mbps, 50Mps, 30Mbps).
Of course, with a slow upload speed, when playing online, that's going to cause lag (mostly for others in the game).
I sure hope that Nintendo addresses and fixes this with an update.
Changing MTU to 1500 doesn't make any diff on that upload speed. Sadly.
excellent video. I bought your book by the way, I liked it
I thought you were going to mention that you can use a USB to network port adapter on the original dock to give your self a LAN connection.
How do you feel about adding a Marseille graphics enhancer to the swith OLED. Should i purchase? Thank you so much.
Thanks bro.
I'm getting the OLED tomorrow RGT 🤟🏻🤟🏻
5:14 I recommend a Class 10 128 GB SD card ....minimum . I use a 256 GB card and it's almost full.
512gb minimum
@@mikeuk666 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ no
@@mikeuk666 you buy a 512 IF you have the money. If you're an adult, no problem, but if you're a kid and you're funds are limited, I say $35 for a 128GB card is reasonable. 512 is overkill.
@@heavyhittersirl especially since kids won't be buying 20 games a week off the eShop, so a smaller SD card will do them just fine
Brand new switch OLED owner. Wish I had known about fixture before ordering a satisfye grip, but I don't play anything too intensive in handheld mode. So it should be fine for now at least.
You missed a very important fact about the fixture s1 mount. It doesn't work with the OLED switch. Definitely agree it's one my favorite accessory's for the switch but they need to make a OLED version.
Damn that’s the one that peaked my interest
just ordered a Nintendo Switch Lite. Thanks for the airplane mode tip
This is been really helpful. I’m in a lot of this stuff I kind of knew because I did watch a lot of videos shortly after I got my switch and before I got my switch OLED I recently got stung with a fake Sandisk SD card which was very sluggish and I kept on getting corrupt data. Whenever I was downloaded a game or installing a cartridge onto my switch. I’ve got it for cheap on eBay so that was already a red flag and it looked so convincing. It looked like the real deal and they got tied off seeing the craft and Messages and I bought other official ones off of Amazon and I’ve had no issues ever since and they’re pretty fast too, so I don’t mind buying the official Nintendo branded SD cards because they are fast enough anyway great video, even though I know this is literally a year old and I’ve had my switch OLED edition since October and I’m very much enjoying my switch which has been the most fun. I’ve had in a long time in games.
I went and got the gulikit 10k battery pack and split pad pro (looking at moba pad and binbok) the moba comes in white (great look with the white oled) and binbok cuz I like RGB both offer wireless comm and rumble (unlike hori) maybe help picking it out with thoughts
Recently picked up the switch OLED and wanted to try out nexigo grip on. I like the design of it and I'm hoping it's decent overall.
The MTU 1400 to 1500 was the best out of all of these videos I’ve seen
Just bought the oled, first Nintendo system!
I use mine hand held mode I'm loving it I have split pad pro
Man, I saw the Hori Split Pad at Mega Media for cheap...I wish I would of picked it up! But my trick is to *KEEP BUYING GAMES* . This past week, I bought:
- Darksiders Genesis
- Darksiders 3
- Destroy All Humans
- Kingdoms of Amular
- Maneater
- MX vs. ATV: All Out
- Ori and the Will of the Wisps
- WRC 9
An eclectic mix of Racing, Hack 'n Slash, Platforming, and Open World.
you’re gonna love ori
I can attest to the fixture S1 it’s dope af
The split pad is the way to go for me its perfect for my gameplay
quick archive games you already finished playing to delete game data but not the saved data to free up some memory space in your switch....but be cautious because you will need to redownload the game data if you wish to play again the archive game
My favourite feature of the OLED switch is the enhanced green vividness on Greys that they refuse to fix
thanks shawn
Sick video!
Fixture S1 is a great option 👍
Big one, when you insert a game cart for the first time make sure to collect the "My Nintendo Rewards" for the game. Each gold coin is 1 cent off an e-shop game, I have over 1500 in my account right now.
How do you do that?
Thanks for the tip. Just figured it out and went through the games I have. Since I just got the Switch, and most of my games are older, I couldn't get the points
