I used an old vintage Kyosho - Electric USA-1 rear axle 23 turn 540 motor for my Red Cat - Everest 10 crawler I had laying around. The USA-1 used the exact same tire size as a Tamiya - Clodbuster & certainly can turn my 4.7" tall crawler tires extremely easy. The 23 turn 540 motor was designed to turn 6.5" x 5" monster truck tires & it works so good for extremely slow crawling & when I need more wheel speed it is right there to get over obstacles.
Sounds like a pretty sick build. I always dreamed as a kid of having one of the usa ones. Unfortunately I never had adult money back then! One of these days!
Sorry I missed your comment somehow? It cuts battery life down to 1/3 to 1/2 if you use them the same. The difference in performance is ridiculous. If you want to actually crawl everything I don't know that this would be the right mod for you based on battery life. Of coarse you could geat a bigger battery (5000) or so and never miss the run time.
It is an R/C 4wd 20 turn that is a 540 can size. Perfect fit, has the same size shaft for the pinion gear also. Part # Z-E0065. It is listed for $9.99 on the rc 4wd website at the moment. I am sure that's plus tax and shipping but I gave $20 for it at my local hobby store.
I try not to bind it up and it has held up surprisingly. I let my 2 year old drive it and he managed to get it mangled up under a chair on concrete and it broke a front knuckle. It was bound up so bad it stopped turning the tires, so I wouldn't say they are invincible, but has been great otherwise.

Nice man! I threw a Axial 27T motor in mine definitely makes it a lot more fun to drive!
It's a whole different unit!
That good huh... ? Lol = )

But how does it do slow with the less torque motor
Does okay, just have to be careful with the throttle. The drag brake doesn't work as good imo
What motor is it

After some time has passed how has the faster motor held up? Any broken parts due to it?
