Volunteer activities at Dujiangyan can include preparing Panda food, cleaning Panda poo-poo from enclosure and helping out where needed. That's if a volunteer arrives at 8:30a. Do as we do and arrive after 10:00p for minimal labor and the all important hand feeding an endangered Giant Panda. Our panda in the video is celebrity "Bao Bao" who was born in America at National Zoo, Washington DC and just returned to China in February!
Who doesn't love Pandas? And the base also acts as a "nursing home" for senior Pandas!
pandas are amazing. I absolutely adore them. my favourite animal. it's my biggest dream to volunteer and see them. how many panda centres have you been to? your video very informative and like how you show pandas all the way through.
Thanks so much for watching Vanessa Rose. I don't know who doesn't love watching Pandas; they are so darn cute! We have visited the main one in Chengdu, I "think" three times and the one at Dujiangyan, once on this last trip. Thanks also for your nice compliment. We were not allowed to actually touch the panda but you may be interested to know that their fur is rough and not silky like it looks. Best regards, Sheila
What an incredible experience, thank you so much for not only capturing this but sharing it too
Thank you so much, Mark, for your time to view and comment. It is very appreciated! Tell me. Who doesn't love pandas? And the chance to get closer to them was worth every penny (or yuan 🤣). Best to you and I hope you have a healthy, Happy New Year. Sheila 😍
Thanks for the special video! I've never seen them so close!
Thanks, James. It was special to volunteer just to get a little closer to pandas. Watch for my other panda video (upcoming) at the main Chengdu Panda Institute. There's no such thing as too many pandas in my opinion. Thanks for watching and best regards, Sheila
Pandas are great animals! Thanks for sharing with us :)
There are the cutest of the cute. Thank you so much for watching. Have you ever had a chance to see a Panda in a zoo? I know China loans them out to different countries for a certain amount of years and then they are returned to China. Best regards, Sheila
Sheila Simkin Sadly I havn´t seen Giant Pandas in a zoo, only red pandas. But hey! A good reason to travel :)
Seeing Red Pandas is exciting! I don't think I've ever seen one in a zoo and I also don't think our Chicago zoos have any Giant Pandas. It was only in Chengdu that I finally saw them. And you are correct. It is a very good reason to travel...not that I need any reason. 😍 Love to travel!
Wow, I loved that video Shelia. Thank you.
Thanks so much David for "loving" the video and taking time to watch. We consider ourselves very lucky to have had many opportunities to see so many pandas in China. I don't think anyone goest to Chengdu without seeing them which is as it should be. Thanks again and best regards, Sheila
I am not an animal lover, but as far as the pandas go, I do relate to the sleeping and eating bit! Not a bad life at all!
Thank you for the video!
They are just so darn cute and cuddly looking. Notice I said, "cuddly looking." They told us that Pandas are very strong and can rip someone's head off just like that. Our guide also said their fur is prickly, not soft like it looks.
Awesome!
It's difficult to get any cuter than a panda in my opinion. They are the ultimate cuddly looking animals and I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching and taking time to add a comment. Best regards Sheila
Pandas have to be multilingual to understand volunteers from all countries
How funny! Thanks for your view and comment. Best to you, Sheila 😍
pandas' poop smells goods, unlike those of other animals.
I never really stuck my nose close enough to tell the difference but since being in the cage didn't make me nauseous, I guess you are right. Thanks for watching and Best, Sheila
Sheila Simkin I guess because they are vegetarian, less stinky!
Nice video! Looks incredible ! So actually in this day u don’t get to hold or hug panda? Only feed them when they are inside the cage?
It's so unfortunate. Necessary, but unfortunate that no one is allowed to touch or hold the pandas anymore. Thanks for taking time to watch and best to you, Sheila
我喜欢你的video LIKE!
非常感谢你
Thank you very much! At least I hope Google translated this properly. 😍 And thanks for watching. Best regards, Sheila
how and where can you sign up for this program, I was there in Dujian for a few days and didnt know about it? is there a website? thanks
Hi Choi, my travel agent took care of it but perhaps there is a website. Have you tried googling? Good look on your next visit. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year. Sheila
the panda is so cute, hahaha, the breeder has to do a lot of work every day。我不知道熊猫会不会吃肉。它有那么锋利的牙齿。
I think everyone enjoys, Pandas. I think they are vegetarians? Thanks for watching and best regards, Sheila
Sheila Simkin
panda eats everything just like human, and they are very powerful in wild world like lions
Have you planned to visit JiuZhai Valley in north of Sichuan?
If you are referring to Jiuzhaigou, yes we have and I've inserted a link to this video -- czcams.com/video/d8oP1Xaqfao/video.html Thanks so much for watching and taking time to ask a question. Aren't the pandas terrific? I never get tired of panda watching! Best regards,Sheila
fluffy pandas
Pandas are the absolutely cutest animals. Thanks for taking time to watch the video and comment. Hope you have a great holiday and Happy New Year. Sheila 😍
Were they upset that you arrived so much later? I am planning on going there in 2 weeks.
Not at all Keith. All they care about is that you paid! I don’t think the paid personnel there like having the volunteers - no one was friendly, but a lot of extra money is accumulated here. Thanks for taking time to watch and comment. Hope you have a great experience. Those pandas are just so darn cute! Best to you, Sheila 😍
@@SheilaSimkin Personnel there have to watch out for the volunteers and concern for their safety! They definitely prefer to take care of the pandas to volunteers!
@@beatricewan9958 I completely agree with you. I think everyone loves Pandas, and thanks so much Beatrice for your time to view and comment. Regards, Sheila 😍
Those 'volunteers' were less than competent to do any of the chores.
None of us were but allowing volunteers is easy, extra cash for the Chinese Government and gives us an up, close encounter with the panda instead of just watching from outside the habitats. I thought it thrilled to actually pass food to Bao Bao (born at Washington National Zoo) who had recently returned to China. Thanks for taking time to watch and comment. Regards, Sheila
Sheila are you single?
Hi James. If you have a moment to watch the video again, the big guy feeding the panda after me is my husband, Marine Steve. Thanks for watching and very best regards, Sheila
