Thanks, this was the best video on this topic! My alarm would go off randomly and got worse the past few days where it would go off a few times an hour in the night (I think the temperature dropping it affected it). I've read elsewhere it might be a door/hood/trunk latch, but this is the ONLY video that showed how to do it, and how to just disable the alarm if you don't want to bother with it... and that's what I did! My car is a 2007 Acura CSX, so if anyone wants it- they can have it! The dealership wanted $150+tax just for the privelege to look at, no quote on the actual fix. I pulled out the cable under the hood and cancelled the appointment. Thanks for your help!

Hi, I have 2012 Acura MDX Oil consumption issue, it is a known issue to the point Acura issued a pseudo recall a few years back and sent letters out regarding piston rings issues re Oil Consumption. Mine burns through 1 Liter of Oil in about 2-3000 Km. Acura dealership and head office have been giving me very poor customer service as they claim I pass the Oil consumption test even though their own Mechanics did not carry out the test honestly (they lied about how much oil was showing on dipstick at each interval even though I would check previous to them checking and they didn't know I was doing this) when I confronted the Manager about it, he told me to call head office which I did, and they sent me an email approving the piston rings repair, only to have the Manager call head office after the approval and yell at them for approving it, and then tell them he wouldn't do it. After 3 months of no returned calls from dealership (Camco Acura in Ottawa CANADA) and multiple emails to head office along with recorded calls to them, I got no where even with the email from head office Acura Canada telling me the repair would be done. They just kept telling me my car passed the test. I asked for another test where I could be present when they read the dipstick, and the manager just simply never returned over 5 detailed messages I left. At the time this all began I only had 95,000 KM on the engine so it was still under warranty. It has been nothing short of a nightmare dealing with Acura, and its obvious the $3000-5000 cost of the repair is the reason they lied to me. Now I am left with an MDX that is burning Oil more and more as time passes and any Mechanic I ask (RB can pipe in on this) tells me that is not good for the future of my Engine-exhaust and WILL cause issues in the future on top of just the extra cost of having to add Oil more and more often to top it up.

This recently started happening to my 2018 RDX. Out of the blue, no rhyme or reason. I turned off the lock when walk away features and slapped in my Bluedriver scan tool. It generated 3 minor communication trouble codes. Rear latch, memory seating and power windows. I went ahead and cleared the codes leaving it to sit over night unlocked. The day prior before running scan tool it wouldn’t honk or light up upon key fob locking but would light up if I were unlocking. The next day I clicked lock and proceeded to hold down the auto-start. The lights came on when I selected lock! It now is working like normal and has been over a week since issue happened. Knock on wood. All my doors hood rear latch were locking and working properly. Might help some others out there who face this issue. Good luck everyone.

@@RBTheMechanic Thanks for your response. After spending many hours with the car. I found the culprit to the problem of my tailgate open warning light staying on when tailgate is securely closed. The latch is fine. The problem is in the rear fuse/Auxiliary box on the left side if looking at the back side of the tailgate. You will see some regular mini fuses and below it you will see two slot connections. I noticed mine was wet like water has leaked into it. Very important, when I unplug the top slot socket, the turning signal,SH-AWD,center console instrument lights, Shift lights, unlock and lock button, rear latch, dashboard warnings, all key fob functions, and possibly others will not work. So, When I vacuum out all the water and dried it out, I looked at the bottom of the socket plug and saw there have been some short-circuiting residue. There was a pin broken from the slot that was shorting out other pins and I'm thinking that's my signal to the tailgate open warning light and it was flickering due to the water. So my car alarm was coming on and off because of that whole moisture
problem and the broken pin. I don't know what that broken pin connects to but when I plugged the socket back in the slot, everything worked perfectly. No intermittent alarm waking up the neighbors.
Anyway, already wrote a book. Thanks again to even care to respond to my question. I hope this helps others as I saw online MDX threads that had the same problem and they didn't know what to do. Bro.... I Subscribed!
