  • Automotive security car alarm kept going off on this Acura RLX, (TLX MDX ILX Honda). History Data storage would state the trigger was the Ignition Switch/Push Start button. The solution ended up being the keyless control unit / module.

    Thank you so very much for this video. This was the exact problem with mine on 2017 MDX. Note do-it-yourselfers, this unit is behind the glove compartment. But, the dealer is only one that can program it.

    Thanks, for the video. My wifes 17' mdx is doing this now, randomly going off at all hours. We have that scanner at work so I'll have to borrow and see if it's the same codes. It's annoying havig to bring it to the dealer , but it is what it is.

    There is a problem with these security modules. The conformal coating on the pcb is incomplete allowing dendritic growth to short one of the IC pins to ground. Another series on CZcams shows exactly where. Clean up the short and seal the exposed area. No need to buy any parts. And, naturally, any replacement part is going to have this same flaw.
    Channel on CZcams is Regina G. Video is called Honda/Acura with intermittent dash lights

    Thanks for the info, turns out we have the same problem, and the mechanic was also looking at the start button at first, ultimately said that we have to take to the dealer because of some codes that only acura has, cant i just buy it and dwap it?

    • @dmvmechanic3741
      @dmvmechanic3741  Před 2 lety +3

      You can buy a new or a used keyless control unit and swap it out (as long as the part number is same) but it will need to be programmed to the car.
      Otherwise the vehicle will not start. Also during the programming, make sure to take all of your key fobs to the shop, so they can register them all at once. If you leave any key fobs at home while the shop programs the new keyless control unit, the keys at home will be inoperative.

    I have a problem with pilot 2019, the dashboard turns on and off and the alarm turns on by itself. Could this part be affecting it?

    I have the problem in a 2019 pilot, the alarm turns on by itself, and the dashboard and stereo keep flashing, could it be the smart power locking control module?

    • @dmvmechanic3741
      @dmvmechanic3741  Před 2 měsíci

      You need to have it tested and diagnosed in order to know for sure.
      They need to check the alarm trigger event and see which component in the car caused your alarm to engage.

    Anyone know where to find this module on a 2017 acura ilx? I removed the glove compartment and cant seem to find it.

      @dmvmechanic3741  Před 3 měsíci

      Remove the driver’s dashboard lower cover. It’s located to the right of the steering shaft/steering column. It’s the control unit with 3 connectors on it.

    Do you know if the unit is in the same location for a 2017 RDX? Also is the unit plug and play or does it require programming?

    • @dmvmechanic3741
      @dmvmechanic3741  Před rokem

      I'm not sure about the 17 RDX location. They usually put them in the same place or passenger side dashboard/kick panel.
      The keyless module will require programming

    • @dmvmechanic3741
      @dmvmechanic3741  Před 2 lety +2

      You cannot turn off the alarm without affecting other systems on the network. You can disconnect both low and high horns but this will also prevent the horns from working.

      @@dmvmechanic3741 I have one more question , if I buy this unit not from Acura the only way to program my key to it would be by taking it acura or would a auto shop be able to do it ?

    • @dmvmechanic3741
      @dmvmechanic3741  Před 2 lety +1

      Dealer would be best but also any shop who specializes in Honda/Acura products should be able to do it. They will need a PCM code directly from Acura server. The number changes every 24 hours. A fully licensed locksmith who has Honda/Acura subscription is able to program it for you.
