      This comment is the most accurate and tested I've heard in years. I personally, would rather have the car get stolen then have the alarm go off. Fear of alarm activation makes mechanics and myself afraid to attempt any dissembling at all costs.

    I have a couple of questions:
    At 5:24 you remove the black connector from the ajar switch... how does it clip in place? I've tugged the connector a bit but it wouldn't budge. Is there a detent I need to depress to free it from the switch and if so where on the connector?
    Also... You show the removed ajar switch but not HOW it was removed. Does it simply twist off of the latch unit (with the latch unit in place) or does the latch unit have to be pulled loose first to gain access to a detent tab?
    THANKS for the great info in your videos!

    Congrats on your fix, mine in 2001 S-10 4 door not so easy. I have no door ajar indication at dash, and yellow "security" flashes, then goes out as it should. But about an hour later, or very intermittently the alarm trips. I had to pull the horn fuse. It eventually drains the battery. It is so random that I have no way to pinpoint the issue. UPDATE to my post here 11. 4, 21; I had removed my mercury switched under hood light bulb when it burned out, guessing it as the culprit?! When I put a bulb back in, no longer have problem.

    How do I set the alarm on my Honda Civic 2016

  • @TexasEngineer
    @TexasEngineer Před 6 měsíci

    On my alarm turning on the interior light triggers the alarm. My 2005 Sport Trac has a dealer installed Ford alarm and a Ford keypad entry system. If you press any key on the keypad it will turn the interior light on and trigger the alarm. One key press, bam. I had the dealer reprograming the alarm with a 10 second delay before triggering the alarm. The alarm is now going off too frequently so I put it in valet mode and is turned off. The alarm would also start doing this when the battery was getting old and ready to die. I assume low battery voltage can trigger the alarm too because disconnecting the battery and reconnecting the battery triggers the alarm.

    I fixed my 2005 Ford Escape random alarm problem by using the fob to only unlock the vehicle. I stick the key in the drivers door to manually lock all the doors, and apparently this bypasses the alarm. I didnt even know it had a slot for the key. It has fixed it 99% although sometimes it may go off if i forget to do it in the proper sequence or whatever. I hope this helps someone!

      @@OzMechanics Basically I'm wondering how much one that is capable of reading the door-ajar info on a Ford would be, and whether or not there is one that would be cost-effective for just a person using it for his car and his wife's. So nothing over maybe a couple hundred. They actually scanned mine at the garage yesterday and found no alarm issues, but they did find a low voltage warning -- which I understand can also trigger this. I had a little usb cigarette charger base plugged in my "always on" lighter port -- since the car doesn't get driven nearly as often as it used to maybe it's draining enough battery in a week or so to cause that. Or these garage people might be incompetent, too, there's been a lot of turnover there since I had this problem before and they were able to determine which door. Hard to say.
