    I jumpered it and that worked. Think it will be fine. I somehow survived many decades just making sure it was closed on my own.

    Another option is to cut off connector from the sensor on the latch and just short it. 🙂

    That was a great video, especially when you said to mark where the latch was in order to put new latch at same place, thank you

    Thanks for posting...I have a 2021 F-150 that had the "hood ajar" light stuck on. Just sprayed some CRC Brake cleaner into the hood latch and that's all it took to get that light to shut off. Not saying it'll fix everyone's issue, but sometimes it's just some dirt in the switch mechanism or the latch itself that can trigger that problem.

      Your welcome, thanks for commenting. You have a good point. With it being such a small switch, it's very likely some debris could bind it up.

      It worked! You just saved me the cost of the replacement part and a couple hours of my time. Thanks for the great suggestion.

      @@mj8308 Glad to read it worked... definitely a big time saver and always the first thing to try when a latch sensor is stuck.

      Did you pull it apart or just spray it while it was all together still? Or can you? I haven't really looked at it yet it just started giving me problems

    • @ChrisG9978
      @ChrisG9978 Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@andred7415 I sprayed it without doing anything to the latch and/or sensor, just sprayed brake cleaner into the latch, fully assembled. The dealership ended up replacing my latch under warranty, which included whatever sensor to go along with the latch. The spray did help temporarily, but after opening and closing the hood a few more times the "hood ajar" light came back on even though it was closed up properly. Cleaning the latch/sensor may help, but it's probably just a temporary fix.

    Was having same problem on 2015 mustang gt. Car alarm would go off around 3 am in morning and would wake up everyone. Was thinking it was cat jumping on hood can I would see cat foot prints. But now hood ajar is going off cruising down the road. I'm trying some different sprays first to see if that fixes problem and if not I'll change latch like u did. eBay sells used ones but just don't know yet

      Glad you found your problem. Alarm going off at 3am isn't going to get you invited over to the neighbors for a free beer lol. Let me know if you find anything that works. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    I have a Honda crz and it has the same hatch back latch issue. Unfortunately it’s latch is not available or is too expensive so I have to manually fix it

    Hello, is it ok to just leave the jumper in seeing its just doing what the switch does?

    • @shanersmechaniclife3164
      @shanersmechaniclife3164  Před 5 měsíci +1

      That will turn the warning off, but then you won't know If your hoods latched properly. Could be very bad news on the highway.
